Hi. It's the mun's birthday! I'm all 19 'n stuff!
He was different. The same, but different. Slightly more childish. He still rambled, but it was a lot less calculated, almost like he was constantly working to keep from shoving his foot in his mouth. It was cute honestly.
She grabbed his hand again and they continued walking, Rose trying not to think of their current situation, but simply enjoy his presence. “You’re still a rubbish date.” Rose said laughing. “Always makin’ the lady pay.” She squeezed his hand and looked up at him, her eyes filled with adoration.
“You’re a very cool Time Lord, one I missed very very much.”
They reached their destination, and walked up to the little stand surrounded by picnic tables.
“Oi, no I don’t!” he insisted, rounding on her and trying to take the lead even as she was the one leading them to where they were going. “Usually I just don’t pay. I’d never recommend it. Money’s a terrible habit.”
That look she have him made him pause and swallow. He regained his pace again the next second and almost collided with her as they found a place in line. He glanced around and wrinkled his nose at the concept of waiting, but whirled to focus on her again, studying those eyes of hers. She seemed wrapped up in admiration– love. The thought made him uncomfortable, for he had hoped that she was happy, that maybe she didn’t love him anymore and could be at peace at last. He was still going to leave again. He had to.
“Oh you clever, clever Rose Tyler! What are you doing with yourself these days? Torchwood-y things? Alien invasions? I do love me an alien invasion. A nice one. With no killing people. That happened… once… I think. Hate alien invasions. They’re rubbish. Ooh do you think they sell pretzels? I know it’s chips, but pretzels and chips together. That’s an idea. Did you know there’s this thing, where it’s a chip but in the shape of a pretzel? Those are fun chips. Chetzels! Or pretzips?”
“Money’s a necessary habit when ya can’t run off in your blue box after takin’ somethin’ that isn’t yours.” Rose pointed out as they found a place in line.
Rose Tyler loved him. She would be lying if she said she didn’t. She loved him in every form, with every face, and she always would. Rose accepted that about herself. That she would always be in love with the Doctor. But she knew this wasn’t forever, but only a short lived miracle, and that fact pained her heart in so many ways. She needed to focus. He was hear temporarily and she needed to focus and the task at hand.
“ That did happen once!” Rose reminisced, laughing at the word vomit he seemed to display. “The night we met Jack. We danced…” Rose was silent for a few seconds, remembering her leather clad Doctor and that moment they had together. It was special and Rose would always cherish it.
Finally Rose looked up at him, her demeanor changed to one more serious. “I’ve been up to a lot a thing these days Doctor. A lot.” She pressed her lips together, pausing. “Actually I need your help. If I can’t come with you, then I need your help.” As Rose said this, they reached the front of the line.
“I’ll get the chips. You find us a table ‘n we’ll talk more. Yeah?”

“Oi! Nothing wrong with not having anything to do nor wanting anything to do. Not my fault you can’t appreciate the art of doing nothing. And, no, I will not go full cape Heroic. My past is too…well, honestly, fucked up for me to bring that kind of attention to myself. No. I think keeping to the shadows is good for me,” he explains.
“I suppose you’re right.” Rose said with a shrug. “It’s just not my cuppa tea. I lived a life where nothin’ ever happened, ‘n I prefer excitement. But, I guess there’s nothin’ wrong with just…livin’. When I was pregnant I was prepared to leave Torchwood ‘n settle down for the baby. ‘N I think I would ‘ave been okay. With John 'n the baby, just enjoyin’ life. But I don’t think I could ever do it alone. I might of smashed my face into a wall. So I give you props for that.” Rose quickly glazed over the part about the baby and John. Regardless of how long ago it was, it still hurt to think about. She much more preferred to mourn and reminisce when she was alone. Or at least with the Doctor. She could always be vulnerable with him. Kilgrave didn’t strike her as the type of bloke who would know what to do if she randomly bursted into tears. So for now, no tears.
“Oi. I just realized I never even asked. What’s the date?”
Kilgrave was an intelligent man. He could figure out the handwriting between the lines. She had outlived probably both the baby and the baby’s father, if he had been in the picture. She didn’t SEEM the one night stand type or summer fling so he was sure it wasn’t a case of baby daddy drama.
Either way, he was HORRID at comfort and chose to ignore her statements all together. Though he could understand her pain. “So I’m basically going to have to kick you out of my flat when you start to act a fool?” he mused. “And the date is January 22nd 2017.”
“I was 29.” Rose began to reminisce to herself. “Seems so long ago. Working at Torchwood, married, living ten minutes away from my mum 'n Pete. Seems like a different life, a different person.”
“So!” Rose clapped her hands together, breaking her chain of thought. “What’s the plan once we get to your flat then? I 'ave no idea what this universe is like or how long I’m gonna be here. We have any game plan?”
“Well I don’t really have anything plan. Like I said earlier, I’m just going to work on investments and generating money…legally,” he explains.
“I had honestly plan to go unnotice for a while after my little stunt at the bank. Other than that, there isn’t much really. Except doing the shopping. Gonna need proper food in the fridge and I have a very particular palette.”
It was then that the bell at the grill dinged, signaling that their food was ready. “Alright then. I’ll take your…shopping and pay for things. You go find us a table. Clean it. This IS still a bus stop of sorts after all. There’s disinfecting wipes where the hand carts are.”
“See, now if you had chosen to come with me, n' we’d be savin’ whole planets n' meetin’ aliens n' bein’ cultured. But that’s okay… Layin’ low and doin’ nothin’ is fun too…”
Rose rolled her eyes at him and smiled. “So high maintenance.” She teased walking over to get some disinfecting wipes.
She found a booth and began to wipe down the table and both of the seats before sitting down, waiting for Kilgrave to come with their food.
This was going to be an interesting future.

The past is what made me the man I am today.
"Rubbish. You 'ave a choice. You always 'ave a choice. You are who you choose to be. You taught me that, yeah? That you don't just let things happen. You do the right thing when everyone else just runs away. That was you, that was who you chose to be. Oh my Doctor, how far you've fallen."

Realizing it was love was the easiest thing to do. I just looked at you and the first thought on my mind was that I could stay there forever.
