why i still ship scorose

i want to explain why - after all these years and all these cute scorbus posts on the internet - i still ship scorose. 

rose x scorpius originated from this one quote by ron weasley in the last chapter of the hp series, where he asks rose to beat scorpius in all tests and not fall in love with him, as arthur weasley wouldn’t be happy. of course a lot of the potterheads loved the idea of a competitive relationship between rose and scorpius that eventually ended up in a romantic one. so did i. what made it even better was this juliet&romeo effect to it, as their dads strongly dislike each other. back in the early 2010s tumblr was flooded by endless funny and cute headcanons and fanarts that were created by scorose shippers.

sadly, cursed child was released and rose was portrayed as this intolerant and arrogant witch and scorpius was so obsessed with the idea of dating her, that - based on this play - the ship was a terrible one while scorbus seemed to be the ideal ship.

but here is the thing. i do not consider cc as canon and since i fell in love with scorose that much, i couldn’t simply change my mind and now ship something else. also, i drew a whole graphic novel about scorose which only made me love them more.

for me this ship is so meaningful because i am free in imagining a beautiful yet interesting love-story in this wonderful harry potter universe that we all love and basing their characteristics on their parents - some of my favourite characters.

a spicy scorose fic

i'm tired she complains. after only 30 minutes of studying, she has had enough already. then come here he said and pointed to his lap. surprisingly, her discipline was not large enough to keep her on the sofa with her laptop and she stood up and walked over. she managed sitting onto his lap facing his face while he kept brainstorming on his essay. feeling a little wild, she started moving her hips against his and soon heard his breath going faster. baby he said, i like that. she took his face into her hands and kissed him. even though he tried concentrating again and again, he enjoyed the movement against his lap too much. it felt electric between them and they ended up in their bed - of course.

it was a rainy saturday. rose and scorp had just finished eating their very late brunch and headed to the bedroom for dessert. all cuddled up their breathing got less intense and they put their clothes back on and sat at their desks to do some work for uni. every now and then rose sat on scorp‘s lap, he held her tummy and explained her what he was doing. while working on her own assignment she was listening to an autumn playlist, drank coffee and wiggled her toes in her cuddly socks.

when will we move in together? ahhh imagine living together. yeah, i will take this cup for sure when i move in with rose.

phrases like that had been thrown around by scorpius a lot those past months, no matter if they were alone, with his parents or with albus. scorpius was extremely excited to announce that him and rose wanted to take the next big step. rose found it incredibly cute but was more low-key about it. better not tell people until the whole thing was real.

she sat at the desk and couldn't focus on her essays. it was tuesday and in three days scorp and her would be receiving the keys to their first apartment together. they were lucky to get a flat despite only little income, since they were both still finishing their degrees. but their love was stronger than the desire to save some money by staying at home.

He has turned into my happy space. Whenever we are together, time flies by, we are both at the peak of happiness doing nothing but enjoying each other’s presence. 10 Fanfictions that Characterised Rose Weasley Better than the Cursed Child

1. Four Times Rose Weasley Woke Up In Places Other Than Her Bed - Maybe the best Rose Weasley written out there (take notes Jack Thorne). Rose’s narration is absolutely brilliant due to her relativity and funniness. There are so many embarrassing things she does and you just cringe for her. And I am happy that the writer did not write her as a perfect human who is beautiful and poised all the time. Despite this, Rose IS a very endearing person although she pretends to be tough around Scorpius. She is definitely her own person and her love life doesn’t define her as she is focused on her career and dreams. And can we appreciate badass Rose Weasley kicking ass in the Quidditch field? Yes please!

2. This Is(n’t) Acting - This fan fiction is so beautiful (SOBS). I think one of the reasons why the relationship is so beautiful is because Rose brings the best out of Scorpius. She was extremely awkward, but had a kind and caring heart. While she was self-conscious, she also seemed to value herself and didn’t let anyone treat her like shit. One of the reasons why I loved Rose was because she was imperfect. She had heaps of embarrassing moments, can be impulsive, had a temper and made plenty of mistakes. Nonetheless, her affectionate nature and character development is enough for you to fall in love with her, very much like Scorpius did.

3. Solitary Confinement - You must be wondering…why am I putting a smut fan fiction on this list? Other than this being one of the best Scorose smut fan fictions ever, Rose’s character was full of energy and spark. She is passionate, she is courageous and she is not afraid to get what she wants (intimate time with Scorpius). Under her feisty attitude, she has a compassionate heart and does what she thinks is right, despite the consequences. She won’t sit back and see Muggles suffering. I appreciated her sense of justice, which is a trait that she would undoubtedly have.

4. The Thing (that is by no means a relationship) - One thing I like about Rose in Graeliars’ stories is that she is very blunt and direct with people and her own internal monologues. Which provides so much comedy and makes you appreciate her character. She is incredibly authentic, vivacious, adventurous and kind-hearted. These are all the qualities Rose would undoubtedly have. I also love the relationship she has with Scorpius! It is so sweet and fluffy (with smut)

5. Adverse Side Effects - Ugh, this story gives me all the feels!! This story is from Scorpius’ point of view so you see how he falls for Rose over the course of the story. One thing that is for certain is that Rose’s loving nature, bravery and kindness is positively influencing Scorpius’ life. She definitely has Hermione’s intelligent, dedicated and sensible nature as well as Ron’s wisecracking humour and loyalty. She treats everyone around her with kindness, is dedicated and she is sassy as hell.  The dialogue between Scorpius and Rose is some of the best I’ve ever read as well (and the story is romantic as hell too)

6. One of the Boys - Yes, Rose is “not like other girls” here. While I am not fond of this trope, Rose’s character retained energy and charisma nonetheless. I really liked the male friendships she had as it provided enough banter and laughter. Despite that she was a tomboy, she had relatively good relationships with her female cousins, which I liked. She also learns to appreciate femininity in some regard and pleased herself. I am sick of fanfictions where Rose is Hermione’s clone and has none of Ron’s characteristics. In this fan fiction, she was definitely Ron’s daughter as she was funny and was not afraid to let loose.

7. Before Malfoy Had It Going -  (The author of the story deleted bot of her stories but she said she was planning on updating them. So I linked her profile @weasleykingrocks )The prequel to Malfoy’s Got It Going (so when she was a teenager). I think she is the perfect combination of Ron and Hermione. She is funny, loves Quidditch and is sarcastic whilst being a perfectionist and overachiever. One thing I appreciated is Rose’s constant need to live up to her parents. Yes, Ron and Hermione are awesome, but it would be hard for their daughter being compared to their hero status. Thus, you feel awful for her as she is drowning in negativity and self-doubt. Her relationship with Albus and Scorpius is special, as you could see her imperfections and love for others. 

8. Malfoy’s Got It Going - Rose is the perfect combination of Ron and Hermione. She is friendly and charming, but is stern and tough when life is difficult. She is funny and playful but she is emotional and hot-tempered. She is intelligent and sweet, but she can be argumentative and judgemental. One thing that the writer was able to pull off well was her charisma and why many of the people around her were drawn to her. She has a heart of gold and her relationship with Scorpius and Albus is beautifully written. Despite this, Rose is not morally perfect and is capable of doing awful things. As we see, she does certain things that are definitely problematic, which allows character development.

9. Art and Alchemy - @languidbones In most Scorose fan fictions, Rose is written as a popular, sassy and fierce Gryffindor who intensely plays Quidditch and studies all the time. Rose in this fan fiction is completely different from anything I’ve ever read. She’s a quirky Hufflepuff who has no interest in studying or Quidditch and spends all her free time painting. I’ve become so comfortable with Gryffindor Rose who is academically competitive, a Quidditch star and has a feisty personality. This Rose is absolutely adorable, creative, endearing and she will make your heart melt. 

10. Bouquet of Scandals - @languidbones Believe me when I tell you that this fan fiction has made me laugh, cry, gush, smile, scream and everything in between. Partly because of Rose’s fascinating and unique character. She has her undivided attention to magical creatures, her pygmy puff and classical music. She isn’t interested in studying, Quidditch, or dating, until she spends time with Scorpius. The fan fiction is utterly beautiful and captivating, with a Rose Weasley who is so loveable and you don’t question why half the boys in her school fall in love with her. It’s best if you just jump to it and read the whole thing. I hope the author writes more!

christmas presents

all nervous, scorpius held a bag in his hands. oh, is this for me? rose asked and got all excited. she knew he wasn't too fond of giving gifts, which is why it meant a lot to her, that he spent time on preparing something.

yesterday i spent like two hours on doing the card, at some point even my mom got involved and wanted to draw something on it. but still, just don't expect a lot. scorpius explained and seemed to be a little timid. whatever it is, the fact that you put effort is what means a lot to me. rose said and kissed him, she was full of appreciation already.

while reading the card, which was decorated with the drawing of a huge heart and different stickers, she started crying. she could feel the love through the handwritten words and was overflown with happiness.

they sat on a bench and discussed about something completely irrelevant for too long already. his arm was around her shoulders and their faces only a few inches apart. she felt the tension and couldn‘t even focus on the discussion. his lips were taking up too much space in her thoughts and she couldn‘t help but wonder if she should simply do it. he was quicker and they instantly started making out like crazy. she had never enjoyed a kiss before and was suprised that she managed to actually find pleasure in it. it meant he was right for her.

his usually shyness disappeared and he got very confident in exploring her body. still, he stayed very respectful and she felt safe in his arms. over and over again, one of her curls found its way into their mouths. which she found annoying but also kind of funny, whyever she had to get her mom‘s huge hair. Scorpius didn‘t seem to bother too much and simply tried to put her hair back before leaning back into a passionate kiss.

they arrived at the bar and stared at the drunk, funny looking crowd inside. on average they seemed to be about 10 years older than their group of 5 wizarding college students. rose took off her jacket and put it on a high shelf where none of these drunk people would steal it. while doing so, a red sombrero fell off the shelf onto the ground and started making guitar sounds. before she could step forward to get it, scorpius already picked it up and put it back to where it came from. even though they were dating, she was surprised about that because she had never seen him do even a small favor like that to anyone because of how lazy he was. thanks, she said and smiled at him. except for her best friend amy, none of their friends around them had any idea that she and him were a thing. of course it made the situationship a tad more mysterious, but at the same time she couldn‘t be fully herself with him when people were around. but because they were not in a real relationship yet, it did not make sense to announce it publicly. due to her oversharing personality, all her friends and even some of her family already knew about her liking and seeing him. scorpius however, hadn‘t told a single person about it.

knowing how much he struggled with opening up to people, she appreciated his honesty even more. since their first date in december, they took a lot of time to build up trust in talking to each other, getting comfortable in the presence of each other. at the beginning rose questioned the whole situation a lot. he did not reach out to her a lot and if he did, it was never to ask her out. at the same time she noticed how happy and excited he seemed whenever they spent time together. she assume him not reaching out to her a lot simply came from his insecurities and trust issues. on new years eve these assumptions were confirmed.

amy and rose arrived at the garden and joined the people standing around a campfire. scorpius and al came and together with others, they spent the evening drinking, talking and laughing. at 3:00 am they decided to go home. once rose arroved at home, she received a qui-let (abbreviation for quick letter, a new magical invention allowing teenagers to communciate more quickly with their best friends) from scorpius wishing her a good night and asking if she arrived at home. she decided to andswer him before entering the house and asked if he went to bed yet. he immerdiately replied and told her it was too early for bed and it was the first day of the new year afterall. rose knew he wanted to see her again but was too shy. so she asked him if he wanted to see her. of course he said yes and told her that he only had the courage for that because of the alcohol. they met and talked for several hours before rose go way too tired. it was after 7am in the morning.

after this incident happened, she was sure about scorps feeling for her and his shyness and overthinking was what held him back. she decided to be patient from then on, every week he opened up more and more.
