Oh my god. This book was incredible. I don't think I could've seen the ending as clearly as it was presented in the end. It's so hopeful that I could hardly recognize the book that I was going into. I loved her writing style and prose. I was sure from the beginning that this book would blow my mind. It feels right, the ending. The beginning of the book was bleak, and throughout the story, Natsuko becomes more and more lonely. The scene where she sings karaoke by herself, whilst remembering her past lover, was absolutely heartbreaking. These characters are so vulnerable that you can't help being drawn to them. The author delves into themes that aren't talked about enough and portrays them in such a raw way. Overall, it's an amazing book, and it makes me want to check out more of her work. I remember being very confused about this myself. No one had ever said it to me either. But in my mind, I thought that because I was a woman, I was meant to follow. But no– I don't have to follow if I don't want to. I can say no if I don't want to. And no one should criticize me if I don't ever try it.

I've never related to anything more in my life. I'm a woman, so that must mean I'd want a child, right? No, not at all. I think they're too much trouble.

I'm tired of my parents repeating to me that I'll change my mind eventually. It's only natural for a woman to have a child, they think.

I'm not trying to convince women to not be mothers, so why try so hard to convince me into becoming one?

Alice in Borderland is such a good series, and I want others to know about it. It focuses on a variety of themes. Throughout the series, we're introduced to characters that were/felt like outcasts. As they’re forced to participate in life-threatening games, they are also forced to face their pasts and either accept or reject it. Many are able to form bonds and change as individuals. The series is also constantly challenging the value of what a person is. Who should survive? Challenging questions like these push the audience to think deeper. But at the end of the series, there's a hopeful message that inspires the audience. And that is, you don't need a reason to keep going.

Ann and Kuina have such a beautiful bond. When they were first introduced, I didn't know they would become close. They clearly have respect for each other. I thought for sure Ann would die at the end, and I was so glad the doctors found a pulse. Their promise held so much weight that it was enough to bring her back <3

For a duo that didn't get as much screen time and were separated for a long time, they hold a special place in my heart <3

Netflix represented Kuina's character wonderfully. I loved her so much and think she's the best character! Kuina is resilient, kind, and strong. She's able to face her past and overcome it. Not many can do that. I think it's especially hard for those who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community. She can feel vulnerable, but at the same time she is a fighter.

Words can't describe how much I love Arisu and Usagi's bond. They've seen each other go through much and have pushed the other to keep going. They're both very kind people and they learn from the other. I'm glad they survived and saw each other once more. It feels right.

I think a lot about how Aguni and Takeru changed so much in the game. From the beginning, you think that they're enemies. It's the way the series sets it up. But the series hits you with a shocking revelation. Takeru had already faced a kind of "betrayal" before, and Aguni didn't want Takeru to lose himself. But Aguni didn't stop Takeru in time, and worse of all, he was cursed with the eyes of someone who had killed their friend.

Spoilers for FMA Manga!!

Greed is a character that time and times again gives into his wants. He is won over by his instincts. But greed isn't necessarily a "bad" sin. There's things wrong with wanting excess at the expense of others, but there is nothing wrong with wanting what you love and fighting for it. In the end, Greed is able to understand what is "enough" and overcomes himself.

I've always thought of Alphonso and Edward's bond as something so special. They bicker and tend to disagree on a lot of things. They're brothers, after all (I have three). But their conflicts are never enough to drive them apart. They look out for each other and want the other to be safe. They work together to help the other. They're brothers, and they don't want to lose each other.

Bearing and forgiving are not the same thing. This is one of my favorite parts of the manga. Many times we think of it as stupid to not do anything toward those that have hurt us. We think that we must take out our anger— in a more violent way than the people who wronged us. But when doing so we destroy ourselves. It becomes convenient to "them". Is it not better to endure and be able to say "You have tried to do away with me, and despite that, I'm still here"? We don't have to forgive, but we must endure.

Solitude

Fujimoto really knows how to write lonely characters. And they're both teenagers! This is such realistic writing and it's heartbreaking to read about their feelings. They only want love and care. Someone slightly taking interest in them is everything to them.
