DID culture is going back and forth between skipping a song and going back to it because two alters who are co-fronting can’t decide whether they want to listen to it or not.

Learn To Say
No, to people when you don’t feel like hanging out
No, to people who don’t deserve your time
No, to people that make you feel uncomfortable
No, to people that threaten your happiness
No, to people that don’t let you be yourself
No, to people that make you ashamed for what you like
I think next thursday is gonna be the best day of my entire life tbh
reblog for next thursday to be the best day of your life
not risking it
how do you communicate with your alters?
In our head space but we have a serif chat for important things, such as exam dates.
Boys that have been abused by women deserve love too. We see you. We support you.
I may have made the cutest pikachu ever…
This has just always been a thing I’ve known but now I wonder if it’s common knowledge bc it should be;
If you’re going to a doctor about anything, instead of just describing the symptoms, describe how it has affected your life. ‘My arm hurts when I straighten it’ will usually get you ‘wait a few days to see if it gets better’. ‘My arm hurts when I straighten it, and it has stopped me from being able to drive or use my computer at work, so I can’t function properly’ will usually get you a lot more consideration, and usually tests or a prescription.
This also applies for mental conditions, including gender dysphoria.
Make sure your physician knows the effect that your condition is having on your life, as this makes it a lot harder for them to dismiss you. This also makes it easier to hold them accountable if they ignore a dangerous condition, should you wish to pursue legal action.
what
i did not know that. useful, thanks!
Yes, this is definitely important when talking to your doctor about your mental health. If you can, make a list of the ways in which your mental health is interfering with your life, being as specific as possible, and tell or show your doctor the list. For example:
“When I feel anxious I struggle to concentrate, so I find myself missing deadlines at work. I’ve got into trouble with my supervisor on several occasions.”
“I often miss school because I worry about people judging me.”
“Often I feel so bad that I don’t get out of bed, so during those times I don’t eat very much, which has led to me losing weight.”
“I’ve stopped seeing my friends because I’m embarrassed about having a panic attack in front of them”.
When you say “I feel this way, and this is the impact it has on my life”, it’s a lot more effective than just “I feel this way”. Medical professionals do often prioritise cases based on their quality of life (so someone who can’t go to work is higher priority than someone who is still going to work like normal), so it helps them to know what you’re able to do, and what you’re not able to do.

You know what would be cool? Getting us a friendship book and letting all of us write in there. I don’t know if friendship books in other countries are the same as they are here, so no idea if you know what I’m talking about, but I think that would be great and I’m actually gonna buy one. We struggle with getting information about each part on paper because it scares us to see it written down for some reason but maybe it’s less intimidating if we do it this way. It’d be more of a game this way, you know? Everybody who wants to can write in there - whatever they want to - and in the end we’ll have a book that contains information about everyone of us and if someone in real life wants or needs to get to know us (like a therapist or something), we can show them this book. It’s kind of weird but also cool and I’ll post this in the tags in case anybody else struggles with the same thing and could make use of this idea. Here’s what they look like in case you don’t know:
It’s especially great for the little ones I think. Ours are really hesitant to give out any information, but if they could write in such a cute book? Maybe that would change things. There are tons of different friendship books with tons of different questions. We will search for one that we like (= one with useful questions), order it and see if this’ll work. I think that’s a fun way to get to know each other. And less intimidating than word documents and lists and writing full setences. Is it silly? Probably. Do we care? Nope. If DID taught us one thing, it’s that you sometimes have to be creative in order to solve problems. And being unable to keep track of all our parts is definitely one, so why not try this? I bet the little ones will love this.
a secret code between women: are you safe? in a contact of eyes. i’m here if you need me, the littlest shift of a skirt, of an inclined head, of watching the man who is asking you to smile, bitch. you aren’t alone on the walls of restrooms, i was where you are too. the quiet doling of emergency numbers, the shelters. the space between two women in a largely empty train station. the waiting game of two women strangers who walk, quietly and quickly, to their cars in abandoned parking lots, who watch to be sure the other leaves safely. text me you get home safe. the tally marks of drinks on hidden wrists, carefully disguised as other things ever since men picked up on what it meant and used it to target the “weakest link.”
my father tells me we have nothing to worry about. last night he sent me one of those email chains that say at the top “Safety Tips For The Women In Your Life!!!! Don’t Let Her Die!!”
me, and the stranger on the train. she is asleep and the man is asking me who i am going home to. i feel tears pricking the sides of my eyes. i am 13 while he towers over me. he reaches out one hand, and while i don’t know how she knows, she speaks up without opening her eyes: “If you touch my daughter, sir, I will murder you.” Whatever he grumbles is lost in history, because this moment I am so grateful for the existence of other people that I cannot breathe.
I am 19 and on my phone when i become aware of a 13 year old girl is smiling nervously at a man who’s saying disgusting things. I grab her arm. “There you are, cindy,” I say, and then look at the man like he is bile. “Do you need something from my sister?” i ask, and i walk away with her. she cries later.
this is the way of things: a silent, secret web. our promise to each other that despite our differences, when it comes to the wire, we become family, instantly. the unspoken promise. i’m here. i’m watching. i’ll witness.
Full offense, but if you state to be a system that formed without trauma youre not only being ridiculous and ignoring scientific facts, but youre also pretty much minorizing all the pain we had to go through to become so many, as apparently it is something everyone just develops if they want to and taking away safe spaces and resources meant for trauma survivors not roleplaying 13 year olds. It´s incredibly rude and hurtful and you please keep away from me.
Yes recovery is uphill. Yes it can be steep and slippery and you will probably stumble a few times, especially if you walk the unaided path. But you see those banisters? Those rails to hold onto? That help? Use it. Help is there for you. Don’t be blinded by the uphill icy path. Take the slow, aided path with something to hold onto. Therapy, medication, CBT, online self-help, etc. Taking little steps with help means you avoid most of the dangers of sipping. Always find your banister.
This is a great post and deserves to be seen
