so the childhood yearning to live in a fantasy world just never goes away huh
pick your poison LMAOOO
It’s not that the walls are rotting, or that the mist has rolled in. I don’t mind the creaking pipes in the middle of the night, nor the ghosts that greet me in the doorway. Books on the shelf, filled with children’s annotations, possessive sisters from 1967. Generations of the same strange pain are on display in photo albums, records and keepsakes. I know to hold it all gently, rock it back to sleep. “Hush, I’m here, now,” I whisper to the grey air. Now that I know what Mother means, I breathe a sigh of relief and hope my breath falls gently over the line of women before me who wondered. I hope they can rest, now that we know the heirlooms were all lies. There is nothing to prove, Linda. You only ever had to love us.

Bon Voyage
Btw I’ve updated the design for this on redbubble, the art prints are the same but prints on items fit them better now:
Also I added a version that’s just the galaxy background as a pattern:

This is an excellent piece for a design study!
“Bon Voyage” is a homage to Laika, a stray dog and one of the first animals in space. Her launch was always to end in tragedy, as she was an experiment during Russia’s studies on the biological effects of spaceflight. Within hours of being launched into space, Laika died of overheating.
This piece seems to depict Laika as a falling star making its way back to Earth. She is clearly the focal point here, partly because she is a living thing. As human beings we are drawn to faces and things that resemble faces.
The fireball around Laika helps establish her as the focal point. The streak shoots down in a straight line (red) but is softened by the blurring of its colors (green). The blur gives the sense of intensity and heat as well as silence—we are so captivated by the living meteor falling to Earth. Laika herself is drawn in a way that subtly adds to being the one living thing in this piece (blue).
The colors of the fireball utilize lighting, realism, and a sense of wonder. The warm colors of yellow and red show life, as do the way the rest of the colors are used. It has the colors of fire too. Red, yellow, blue, white.
The stars and planets and cosmos of the background are far away, enhancing focus on Laika, but are complementary too by having a similar color palette. They are mostly round and soft, contrasting Laika’s straight line. Finally, Earth serves as a buffer to keep the viewer from wandering out of the piece (white line). Its atmosphere provides color composition, and its wavy clouds and oceans show it as a place containing life along with our subject—Laika is finally coming home.

The friendship I let die because I didn’t think I was good enough to participate. The enthusiastic promise that I would have your help for as long as I needed. The lapsed opportunity to reciprocate the care you never minded giving me. All that you saw and knew about me, shoved to one side because I didn’t believe you. The empty space there now, that used to be you, that used to help anchor me to myself.
I watched it all die because I couldn’t admit that you cared for me, and I know that felt like I didn’t care for you.
Too busy second guessing myself (second guessing your love) to be a good friend.
