i need to perma-explode. forever.
and on the pedestal, these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias--hope you're enjoying my kickass sculpture of two vast and trunkless legs of stone and a shattered visage! I built it in this desert to prove an important point about Society
I somehow hit the jackpot and grew up being raised by a mother who was actually good and liked me (while she was poor and disabled nonetheless! Big Fascism is always saying poor and disabled single mothers who aren't evil can't exist, get #owned lol), and that actually made me extremely anti-adult from a very young age. every single friend I ever made from ages seven to nineteen would constantly tell me crazy stories about what regularly went down in the penal institutions that passed for their homes, and that was all considered normal and fine and the gold standard for what nice suburban families were meant to be, meanwhile if I said something like "my mum lets me read any book I want and all movies and tv are allowed as long as we watch them together" then I'd get un-invited from every birthday party because I was deemed a corrupting influence (which, to be fair, I was, because I would spend a lot of time convincing my friends that if their parents' rules sucked and were unfair then it was okay to lie to get around them). and whaddya know I'm twenty-four and still get on really well with my mother and talk to her as much as I can and this is the case for literally no one else I know.

they got married btw
oh you’re not kidding
I took your skull off display because my guests kept saying it looked noticeably gayer than the other skulls
Microaggressions against polyamory in interpersonal interactions are important and should be discussed, but I do wish more of the conversation focused on the ways that systemic amatonormativity impact things like family units, taxes, healthcare, inheritances, housing, childcare, etc.
I'm not dating or married or related to anyone I live with, and our household of four adults can't get any kind of financial or food or housing aid because we count as three separate households despite our semi-blended finances and living together for a decade. There are laws that have been proposed (at least, I don't know if any passed) that limit housing to nuclear families.
Amatonormativity and polyphobia are not just theoretical "people are kinda mean about this sometimes" -- they are real and materially impactful systemic issues, and they affect all of us.
just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out
EMERGENCY - ITS AUTO ENABLED!
if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...
so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts
posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig
one of my principles of social interaction is "dont be a dick to someone who's worst crime is being annoying and not understanding social cues" because i know firsthand how much that sucks. unfortunately this means that i'm not a dick to people who i just find kind of annoying when a lot of other people are and then they try to be friends with me (because im not a dick to them) (but i still dont really want to be friends)
absolutely no hate to the person who left this tag but 😭 if only . unfortunately this post was entirely about people i know in real life
respect for people who are always just trying their best
come eat a carcass with me

Rest = Lying Down, Eyes Closed Because other parts of the program from England made sense, I decided to try resting every afternoon. After some experimentation, I determined that the most restorative rest resulted from lying down in a quiet place with my eyes closed. I was surprised at the results from taking a 15-minute rest in mid-afternoon. Even that short break seemed to help, reducing my symptoms, increasing my stamina and making my life more stable. After a while I added a similar rest in late morning. Over time, I came to believe that my scheduled rest was the most important strategy I used in my recovery. Resting everyday according to a fixed schedule, not just when I felt sick or tired, was part of a shift from living in response to symptoms to living a planned life. The experience showed me that rest could be used for more than recovering from doing too much; it could be employed as a preventive measure as well. In the terms suggested by someone in our self-help program, I learned the difference between recuperative rest and pre-emptive rest. Surprisingly, taking pre-emptive rests greatly reduced the time I spent in recuperative rest, because I was experiencing much less Post-Exertional Malaise. The result was that my total rest time was reduced.
sometimes like an idiot i assume everyone has read bruce campbell on resting/pacing to handle post-exertional malaise affiliated with chronic fatigue. that is obviously not true! anyway here's the hot guide, i linked straight to the "schedule in mandatory complete 15 min rest as part of your day and hopefully you will get to do less surprise many hours of rest to recover" section but the whole thing is laid out pretty clearly
LEAVE THE LEAVES, IT DOES NOT HURT YOUR GRASS GROWTH AT ALL BTW. anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something, LEAVES HELP THE SOIL AND ARE BIODEGRADABLE. STOP THE BIG LAWN GOLF COURSE BULLSHIT.
also if you rake up your lawn the very second a single leaf falls on it I kind of never want to hear you on about how you "LOVE FALL SO MUCH" again. bitch no you don't or you would like it to LOOK like fall too. every single excuse I have heard for keeping your creepy sodded weed free/life free lawn has been stupid as all get out. -Leaves are good for soil -"weeds" are not a real thing and your yard should have diversity and natural growth in it, especially clovers!! -you want butterflies and bees to thrive don't mow your yard in the fall/winter they hibernate in the tall grass also birds need seeds from it sometimes. -it should be illegal to not have a tree in your yard, at your first chance please try to plant some trees, they have endless benefits. -stfu about 'ew but bugs!' please get off the internet and go touch grass, I am actually worried for you. -Don't over till your soil, once topsoil is gone its pretty much gone, it takes YEARS to rebuild it. THIS IS HOW THE DUSTBOWL HAPPENED AND IT CAN AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. treat the land with respect.
It not hurting grass growth is entirely dependent on species of tree and climate. Here, oaks and big leaf maples will 100% kill off patches of grass.
The solution to this, of course, is to leave the leaves, note how far out from the trunk(s) they kill grass, and declare that area a garden bed and plant it with understory plants/plants that can handle getting a bunch of leaves dumped on them. Ideally with plants native to your area and that naturally grow under that species of tree or similar. But you can also throw in some helebores and bleeding hearts to appease HOAs/neighbors with opinions.
Also, do keep an eye out for non-native weeds that like to create monocultures. Everyone should be familiar with noxious weeds and invasive species and know how to deal with them. They can and will crowd out native species and this does have negative effects.
A lot of bees and other insects do hibernate in the hollow stems of plants and birds feed on seed heads, so it's a good idea to find out what plants native to your area provide that kind of habitat and include them in your garden. Here we have a species of golden rod, pearly everlasting, triteleia etc. I wouldn't recommend demanding on lawn gasses to provide this ecosystem niche as there's a very good chance they aren't native to your area and some insects won't use them because of that.
Another note: a lot of people are worried about bugs, and I get that. But here's the thing: in a balanced ecosystem, the predators of bugs are there as well, so you'll actually see fewer of the "pest" bugs. Pesticides are usually non-selective, meaning they kill everything. "Pest" bugs reproduce and thus recover their populations much faster than predator insects, so by spraying you end up with population explosions of whatever was bothering you in the first place. What really helps is creating habitat for predator species because they then keep those populations under control. This is one of the ways organic vegetable producers do it.
