The entire reason the Umbrellas are ‘underestimated’ is actually cause they are OVERestimated. People think they know their next move and drive themselves crazy trying to predict it. Five just rolls out of bed ready to punch someone, entirely forgetting that he can tick time backwards, probably the smartest person alive, but he’s running on forty-five years of pure insanity and split personality and he can’t remember how to function like a regular person. Allison is like ‘this bitch’ while forgetting she can rumor anyone into anything, because she was also manipulated into using it on her loved ones and she’s afraid it’s messed up her moral compass so she tries to refrain instead of realizing it’s useful in the right situation. Diego can literally manipulate moving objects with his mind but he’s over in the corner trying to figure out life with negative three braincells. I’m not sure Klaus is really comprehending anything, just wandering along with the vibes and pure rabid brother energy. Luther is like. Permanently confused. Viktor thinks he needs to step up as the most powerful but now he’s forgetting that talking things out exists, like the rest of them.

None of them know what’s going on. People overestimate them to the point of driving themselves mad while the Umbrellas are in the background making martinis. It’s what Makes This Show. Lifelong obsession and training vs the chaotic need to bite someone reaching for the last donut. And the donut biter is winning.
