i hate the way almost the entire fandom interprets butters character/personality, ESPECIALLY in reference to specially bunny. i am convinced y’all have no idea who butters is as a character and have adopted everything you know and like abt him from snippets of the same 3 scenes on tik tok edits

I think the worst part of this is that (with both Butters and Kenny) they are Cartman's best friends for a reason and NONE of that reason has anything to do with being forced to be there. It comes back to the weird obsession the fandom has in making Cartman the only shitty person in the show. By doing so they have to turn everyone else into a saint, erasing all of the nuance of their characters and watering them down to the lamest essentials.

Butters hangs out with Cartman because he likes Cartman and he likes Cartman because he agrees with most of Cartman's behaviour and wants to take part in it. They're close because they're on a similiar wavelength and so many people don't want to acknowledge that because it means they like a problomatic character and there's nobody trying to overcompensate about their interest in a certain show more than some South Park fans do lol.
