On Surreal Sunday we get down with the disco spooders. Australian photographer and biologist Jurgen Otto, aka Peacockspiderman (previously featured here), created this awesome compilation of 51 twinkle-toed peacock jumping spiders dancing to “Stayin’ Alive” by the The Bee Gees. No one has dance moves as catchy as these colorful arachnids.
“I filmed these and few additional ones that I didn’t find space for in this clip over the last few years. Thanks to Universal Music for allowing me to use the Bee Gees track. I often thought it is the perfect tune for letting peacock spiders dance to, and I am glad I finally got around to combining the two.”

This is really incredible. The top mushroom is a Fomitopsis pinicola, red-belted polypore. Directly underneath it is a year old reishi, and underneath that fresh ones. This picture is a great showcase of the subtle differences between the species and how similar their appearance and habitat can be.

Being a veterinarian is hard and often very serious work, so it’s awesome to see veterinary offices showing their playful side with these delightfully silly and sometimes painfully punny signs.
