“hey babe--” rowan said, kissing his girlfriend on the cheek as he crawled back into bed from his shower. not much had really changed for him since college, and it was evident by his beautiful girlfriend at his side and the spliff in his fingers. he shook his head playfully, making sure to get some of the water to land on her and lit the spliff, taking a deep inhale. “i have the day off today, so guess what lucky lady gets to spend the entire day with me.”

“Oh my god, I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve been able to talk!” Stassi wrapped her arms around the other pulling them in for a tight embrace, before breaking away. “I’ve been so busy. Between moving into a new place, getting settled in my married life, and then on top of that I got really sick…It’s been chaotic.” She let out a sigh. “How are you, though?”

“i still can’t believe that you got married honestly. that’s wild to me--not that it’s bad, of course.” rowan was only 21 and, though he did like his girlfriend an immense amount, had never really considered marriage, even when he had been in serious relationships in the past. “i can imagine it’d be hectic, though.” he shrugged his shoulders at her question. “eh, i’m alright. just exhausted, mainly. school’s keepin’ me plenty busy with everything goin’ on. so’s the frat.”

“someone might think you were getting attached if that was true, and wouldn’t that blow your cool kid cover? oh well if thats the case maybe i’ll just be really loud, since ya know i love to make people happy” she said with a playful roll of her eyes. “well rowan vitto, i’m a solid believe in a woman doesn’t need a man, but i guess i have a soft spot for you. and it would be cool to be something more, if you wanted of course” she nudged him gently, lips lingering after their kiss “but of course, wouldn’t want to assume anything myself”

“mm, i think you’ve known me long enough to know i’ve never been a cool kid. but the loudness is appreciated, love,” he said fondly, chuckling as she rolled her eyes. his eyes lit up involuntarily when she mentioned the possibility of them being something more and he could help but grin stupidly. “if i wanted to, huh?? yeah because i don’t think i’ve been obvious about it since this first started, right??” he leaned in to kiss her again. “so--silver james, you wanna be my girlfriend??”

“lottie, that sounds a lot like judgment and it’s too early for judgment.” rowan tsked fondly before shrugging his shoulders. “besides, i’m sure you’ve got your vices, too, right??”

“Well, maybe you should learn to get better reflexes. Or, you know, not be such a chicken shit when someone sneaks up behind you.” Penny suggested, shrugging as she leaned against the kitchen counter, fingers drumming against the marble. “As much as I would love to sit around and get high and contemplate the universe, I save that for Thursdays. That, and I’m running an errand. This girl who lives across the hall from me hooked up with a guy last night and she left her shoes here, so I offered to come get them for her.”  

“was it chad?? chad gets a lotta action these days for some reason. i dunno, though, i don’t think he’s all that attractive,” rowan rambled, shaking his head and taking a drag of the spliff. he held the smoke a moment before exhaling. “you know where the shoes are?? a lot of girls lose a lot of shit here. i’ve scored a fit bit from one of them before because they never came back for it.”

Jumping backwards when noticing she had startled someone in the kitchen and seeing what he had and what was offered to her, Cori just shook her head. “No thanks. Also sorry for startling you. I was looking for someone but it seems like they aren’t here, so… Sorry to both you this… early?”

“who were ya lookin’ for?? most of the guys are at class right now. mine don’t start for another hour,” rowan went on, nodding his head as he spoke, smoke puffing out of his mouth. “i feel like you’re judgin’ me a little bit here, huh?? just a little pick-me-up, y’know??”

chloe had managed to find her way into her brother’s frat. she had to annoy him to the extreme today. make herself feel better. she furrowed her eyebrows and coughed a little. “it’s 11am. no.” she said. she had a class in two hours away. “can i ask you something?”

“first i’m reprimanded for babying you and now i’m reprimanded for offerin’. i’ll just keep my mouth shut around ya from now on,” rowan teased, taking a puff from the spliff. his eyebrows raised at his sister, head tilting. “what’s up, chlo??”

“what do you want me to bang next time? maybe have a string quartet follow me around so it doesn’t scare you?” astrid asked shaking her head “no i’m good”.

“y’know, that would be helpful. plus, it’d be nice to listen to that during all of the newspaper meetings. drown out the voice of that heinous editor,” rowan teased, grinning over at her.

alex furrowed his eyebrows and checked the time on his phone as he shook his head. he took the thing from his friend’s mouth and just took a deep drag from it himself. “i’m late. i’m also gonna be late to my album meeting. fun stuff.”

“hey--” rowan pouted as it was taken from him mid-hit. “i woulda shared had you just waited a second, ya dick,” he said grumpily, though he would get over it in a moment or two. “that’s exciting shit, though, at least. i dunno how the meetings are, but i assume fun.”

Taking a slow drop from the spliff, Lyla inhaled and exhaled before passing it back to him. “To be sure the parents know by now that if their son is rushing Rho, he’s a pothead. I mean, they have to check greekrank.com– doesn’t everyone these days?” she question, pulling herself up to sit on the kitchen counter. “As for Greek council, I have no advice except don’t get caught. That would definitely suck.”

“what the fuck is greekrank?? i thought everyone just kinda went for it. that’s what i did. that’s a pretty fair assumption, though. i think our house has a lingerin’ smell of pot here.” he chuckled to himself quietly, taking another hit of the spliff as it was passed back to him. “yeah, i’m pretty sure i would be kicked outta the house if they didn’t shut us down. definitely off of social chair at least.”

“To be fair they do only get about in the dark so I can see where it originates, but what I don’t understand is why encourage the lie.” Alissa brought both hands to just over her head before sighing dramatically. “Is it humanity or society? There lies the question. Either way, blind as a bat does have a nice ring to it.”

“i don’t even think some people realize it’s a lie. like i said, it took me forever to even figure out that it was opposite that. it’s probably just somethin’ that was said even before we knew much about bats and their anatomy and shit.” rowan’s shoulders shrugged softly. “yeah, it’s a pretty aesthetic phrase, actually, but still--mad about how dumb i feel now lookin’ back on all the times i legitimately thought it was true.”

“well thats a plus for you, when i leave in the night right? don’t want to wake you up - you loom og so cute when you sleep” she hummed, eye closing as he kissed her forehead such a soft gesture cause a jolt in her heart” she shrugged because she was so confused by what they were. “so is that all you want to be known as? the guy sleeping with his daughter?” she asked raising a brow his way “and for the record i look nice in everything”.

“who says i want you to leave in the middle of the night, though??” rowan teased (or was he??), hands falling onto her hips to hold her close. “maybe i wanna hear ya so i can cuddle you tighter so you can’t leave.” he laughed softly, happily. he was always happy around her. but her questions began to make him nervous and he pressed his lips in a line, looking down at the ground. “i mean...no, of course not. but we haven’t really talked about us being anythin’ more. and i don’t wanna assume anythin’.” he chuckled, nodding in agreement at her next statement. “you’ve definitely got me there, silv.” he leaned in to press a gentle kiss to her lips.

“wow and here i expected a better more warmer welcome, i’m talking hot fudge sundae warm” she said shaking her head, maybe she was wearing his hoodie as a complete outfit today and normally she would never decline a hit but she was seeing her dad later and well. “seeing dad later, you should come. he always tells me i never bring boys home”.

“maybe if you didn’t move around as silently as a cat then i wouldn’t be jumpy,” he pointed out, chuckling and moving to give the girl a kiss on her forehead. “you look nice in my clothes.” his eyebrows raised when she mentioned her father, making a face. “i dunno if that’s the best idea, love. your dad and i didn’t exactly get along when i was just alex’s friend and now i’m...” he started to say dating, but immediately changed it--he wasn’t entirely sure what to call them, if he were being honest. “--i’ve been sleeping with his daughter.” he placed the spliff back to his lips.
