This isn’t just another shooting. 

This is now officially, with over 50 casualties, the worst mass shooting in United States history. And the fact that it took place at a gay club was not merely coincidence. This was not just another act of senseless violence in America. This was a hate crime. 

A man walked into a safe space for the LGBT community with an assault rifle and lined them up and slaughtered them. 

Don’t do what the media is inevitably going to do. Don’t erase where this happened and who this happened to.

When you make your statements for/against gun control, remember this was a hate crime. When you make your statements about the gunman’s reported religious beliefs, remember this was a hate crime. When your politicians make empty promises about changing the way things are, remember this was a hate crime. When you make your statements about the media’s coverage of this, remind everyone this was hate crime. 

Do not gloss over the identities of the victims. They were killed for them. This was a hate crime.

Sending North Carolina some sock-filled love.

While this issue obviously hits home for us in the LGBT community, that also makes it easy for people outside of the community to brush off this law’s passing as simply “unfortunate.” It’s worth pointing out that even beyond the unreasonable and unforgivable slight against human rights, this issue shows a great deal of abuse of legislative force for what can only be personal prejudices at great cost to the state of North Carolina.  There are so many layers to this issue that need to be dealt with, but it hits home in such a personal way for me that I’m venting and putting it down for today. On to the next fight, on to making things better for the LGBT community in the future.

when i moved from Texas to NJ as a kid, i waited a few weeks in school before asking the teacher when, exactly, we were supposed to honor the NJ Flag, the way we "Honor[ed] the Texas Flag" every morning at my old school. (after the pledge of allegiance.)

my "vibro-table", for shaking the bubbles out of a mold while casting. i made it myself! have to use it on the carpet or it travels away, but it does what it's supposed to. ^__^ right now i'm in the "Research and development" phase of opening an online shop. the mold above is part of something related to plastic jewelry, but that's all i'm gonna say for now!

i work at an art supply retailer now, and i made these cheapo Artist cards to stimulate the card swap we have at the store.

plates from an old history book i got at the thrift store, rubber-cemented on bristol that i cut myself. colored and “enhanced” with gel pens and white and black inks.

i wanted to demonstrate how the cards can connect local artists and that you don’t necessarily need great skill or supplies to enjoy participating in art. : )

don't forget, he also designed and insisted on the inclusion of the "Pirates of the Pancreas" attraction in the amusement park inside that hobo, and talked up how enjoyable it was. i'm just assuming at least some of the pirates were male.
