i hate when apps know that i’m screenshotting something. when i screenshot something, that’s me acting outside your realm of understanding, app. i am beyond what you consider the observable universe. you’re not supposed to perceive me. we don’t know when god screenshots the earth. we don’t know when he’s like, “okay i’m just gonna take a pic in case i ever want to add dinosaurs back to something later and don’t remember how.” and if we did, we wouldn’t act all smug about it like, “hey, you wanna share that post? you could just click here to share it.” no, man. you didn’t catch me. i screenshotted this for my own reasons. what’s next? i can’t take a photo of my computer screen with my phone out of laziness without being shamed by the printer i don’t own?

I was finally able to source this photo! It’s from Le Figaro Magazine, “The Incredible Story of the Firefighter General of Paris: Our Unpublished Photos,” from November 1st, 2019. Can’t find a specific credit for the photographer, which is too bad, but I have been skeptical it was a real image; up to now I couldn’t find a primary source Googling.

How did I finally find it? By Googling in French, on French Google.

And this is why some of my carefully curated wildflower and nasturtium patch is not doing so well. The Groundhog babies have big appetites. I like seeing what they eat and what not, it helps with planning for future seasons. They do not touch peonies or catnip. I like that they eat Burdock, and I am also happy I buried the fence around my veggie garden, even though these guys even climb trees. They make me laugh, so there's that. (I know the angle is not perfect for their size, this is an experimental setup.)

Also, it is my fault for planting stuff that pretty much shoves itself into their mouth 😌

The way all the 2020s have done so far have been making me categorically against every new generation of tech that comes out is insane. Like I'm from a technological boom generation, saw the first portable phones, nokias & blackberries & flipphones etc, and the first smartphones, and the first ipods & ipads & tablets in general while still having cassettes & DVD & MP3 players around so I know how all of it work, I had computer classes in high school, I did the transition between home desktop computers to laptops and back to gaming computers. But then they started to put internet in your printer & microwave, everything has ads & AI now and every update is worst than the last. I literally loved technology and they ruined it

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
