Piper came into school one Monday morning, not acting like herself at all. She didn’t talk to anyone else, barely even saying hello or smiling at people which was the opposite of her usual bubbly personality
"Hey honey... What's wrong?
“Hi Atlas...” she said quietly
"Whats wrong?'
“Rough weekend..Just feeling a little drained I guess..”
"Wanna skip?'
“I do..but my moms will get mad..”
.ill take the hit
She shrugged
“Can we hang out after school?”
"Of course..
She gave atlas a soft hug
They hugged back
"Ive got you."
“I love you babe”
"I love you too.. Im not sure whats goin on but youll be okay."
“My parents are mad at me”
"Why..?"
“Not now”
"Okay.."
Piper found atlas after school
"You ready to go?"
She nodded
"You okay?'
She just shrigged
"Whats up?"
“My stupid therapist told my moms shit and yeah..”
"And theyre... Mad..?'
Atlas wasnt going to press to know what they were told but wither way it didn't make sense to them that her parents would be angry
“Took my door off its fucking hinges..”
"Maybe they're just worried..?"
“It pisses me off”
"Yeah i get that.."
“And they took my phone.”
"Seriously..?"
“Yeah.”
"Thats.... Do they really think that's supposed to help??"
“Probably...bitches”
"Hey.. Theyre still your parents.."
“Yeah. But they’re bitches”
"Piper.."
"They still love you."
“I know that...it’s just hard sometimes. They love me but I feel like even they don’t really know me..”
"Yeah.. That happens..
“I’m just bright bubbly Piper..god forbid I feel something for once..”
"Talk to me babe."
“They don’t understand me”
"What do you want them to understand.
“That I’m not always happy all of the time but I’m not about to kill myself either. They act like it’s one or the other and no in between..”
Atlas nodded and held her hand
“I want them to stop treating me like im still a child”
"Have you talked to them about it? "
“I’ve tried..”
"And..?
“They don’t listen”
"I'm sorry."
