i’ve written about all sorts of things, but my current project i’m focusing on is a horror project about a lesbian beekeeper. i was inspired by the nature of vulture bees.

Vulture bees don’t derive their protein from pollen like typical bees. Instead, they crave the flesh of rotting corpses. Delving into the eyes first, they use their teeth to chew the dead bodies and ferment the pieces into pots to make royal jelly.
Abelha Barbosa is a lesbian beekeeper born in Brazil, where the vulture bee hypogea is from. Her father, however, always told her she wasn’t sweet enough to be his filha, so he calls her “Boy.”
