Code: Realize: King of Cakes Van

My true and one and only king of cake, Abraham Van Helsing of course! I love how while at the same time he doesn’t look like he wants to be posing for the photo, he makes a suggestive wink of “but if you want to see more”….because, sometimes less is more. We already know that to really get to know Van, you have to look past what’s up front, just the way I like it.

Van’s cake may not be the most biggest, towering or elaborate, but it certainly has paid the most attention to detail and made a nod to the original game. Simpler but with many significant decorations. Remember the cannon Van got shot out of? Well, it’s right there, along with the blimp from the airship race. I’m curious about the tower and ladder, but I can only presume this makes reference to his military past. The most interesting thing, however, is Sissi is on the cake! This is much like an earlier image that both are featured together. Perhaps they get along much better than we realize. Van is King, and the voice behind him is my seiyuu king ^^ This completes the “Kings of Cake” series. ♥

Code: Realize: King of Cakes Fran 

Cake time with one of the meganes. Here Dr. Frankenstein takes a break from his usual alchemy to entertain us with bakery delights (and wasn’t there a saying in a certain series that alchemy was born in the kitchen?) Fran’s cake might not have as complex of a design compared to Lupin or Saint-G’s cakes, but this one has by far the most layers or even “mini cakes” topped on top of one another. I’m sure what most of his fans are looking at is, of course, him eating that strawberry rather suggestively! He’s looking so innocent yet not so much! Enjoy all you Fran lovers.

Code: Realize: King of Cakes Saint Germain 

Also known as the Patron Saint of Cakes. For…obvious…reasons. Similar in style to Lupin’s cake, Saint Germain’s cake is shaped like multiple top hats piled on top of one another from biggest to small. They all look like party hats to me, but I think we all already knew Saint-G is a mad hatter deep down…and mad hare…and the Cheshire cat. Well, at least you’re guaranteed a lovely cup of tea if you join him to eat cake, that’s for sure!

Well, I knew Lupin is a bit of an ego-maniac but that cake is basically wearing his own clothes! Hmnn…it’s certainly an odd-shaped cake, but very creative without a doubt and has Lupin’s signature cane, top hat, vest and jacket colors and even his bowtie! Honestly, how do you manipulate rolled fondant like that? Well, Lupin’s cake is no lie, that’s for sure. Have your cake and eat it too.

Code: Realize: King of Cakes Impey 

Given his culinary skills, it should be more like Cake Boss Barbicane! Part of an original series of illustrations for the Otomate app “Sephirot”, I believe it works as a type of card game. Nonetheless, I was intrigued by this set of illustrations and I am so glad they were included in the 2017 Code:Realize desktop calendar, where this was source from. As for the cake, looks like you standard one layer cake covered in heavy whipped cream and decorated with chocolate stripes, plus a blue-green rose, much in similarity to the color of the horologium as well as Cardia’s colors. Lick that cake Impey!

Code: Realize: Van - “Be Aware of Your Charm”

Second CG from the Code:Realize fan disk as revealed by Otomate, this scan was sourced from an issue of B’s-Log. According to the notes on the magazine, this comes from a scenario in which Van & Cardia are out on a date, now being able to enjoy life much more normal as Cardia is poison free. Quite a change since the original game, isn’t it? But I think that’s what’s made Van one of the most interesting characters: he’s changed so much since we first met him and his real personality has finally come out.

In the original B’s-Log article’s quote, Van tells Cardia “You should be a little more aware of your charm” (translation courtesy of @apricotsushi from Chic Pixel). Cardia feels a bit semiconscious that she’s not as elegantly dressed in comparison to the other ladies in the restaurant they’re in. I say nothing like a guy that reminds you he loves you just the way you are. Very much looking forward to the game later this month, and even more when English localization arrives next year.

Code: Realize: Music to my Ears… 

The cover of the bonus Stellaworth short story booklet should you have purchased the entire collection of Code:Realize cds from their store. As per usual tradition of Stellaworth bonuses, this a 3-pair illustration featuring Saint Germain & Lupin. While I’m not so much a fan of the Gentleman Thief, what bothers me is how uncomfortable Cardia looks. Still, it’s a beautiful illustration and I do like this white version of Cardia’s first outfit. Hopefully we’ll see her wearing in the upcoming fan disk and it’s not just a one-shot use. Enjoy!
