fact: she appreciates the company of her dogs more than she appreciates the company of anyone else which is not to say that she doesn’t appreciate anyone else, it’s just that the dogs are the ones she really enjoys hanging out with

The Hobbit gave a huff at her words, “Well at least I don’t look as if I’ve painted my hair red.” The insult was dull-witted and made no sense, and he crossed his arms over his chest. “I haven’t even done anythin’, I didn’t take from the garden if that’s why you’re in such a sour mood.”
“-- Because looking like you’ve had your hair rinsed in charlock is that much better.” She smirked to herself, quite proud of the comeback, though her face took on an innocent expression then, at his further words. “I’m not in a sour mood, why would you think that?”
"Your face looks like a cracked tomato... how did I never see that before?"
“You look like… that dog of yours.”
@runswiithdogs
”Ohhh, but he’s smart, this one. But were I bright as a tomato, I’d be worried.”
i just remembered the short while when i rped Denethor wow i kind of sort of miss him

He nodded and continued towards the smell of food. The dog wouldn’t be as big as he expected though, but at least the girl would know what it looked like if they found him.
“Don’t be sad. One way or another we will find him or he will find you. Dogs tend to be incredibly loyal afterall,” he smiled, offering a hand to help her down the most steep part of the hill and down the rolling rocks.
“Yes, well, they also tend to be rather courageous and unlikely to just run off at who knows what,” she muttered, half to him, half to herself, sighing softly but then again bringing up a soft tender smile to show that despite the slight bitterness of her remark, she has not lost gratitude.
-- Though his hand was not accepted as she decided to move down the steep side of the hill by herself. Partially because she did not want to feel as more of a bother than she already was, partially because she realised that this might only slow them down and make the way down harder for both of them. Alone, she moved swiftly, hands leaning to the ground for support anytime without the slightest bit of reluctance.

As the Hound barked towards him Merry paused, flexing his fingers a bit uneasily at the noise. Until she had sent him, Grip off into the water who was now biting at the surface as if he could actually get a hold of it. A light laugh came from him and he clapped his hands together a little awkwardly. “Grip? That’s.. a vicious name.” Merry swallowed, “Perhaps. Unless, you show him I won’t harm him.. or.. that I’m actually nice, and not going to steal from the field.” He stated non-chalantly, “So you know my name, now what’s yours ‘shroom? Hm?” The Hobbit questioned as he moved forward, now sitting in the cool grass, hands splayed out behind him and leaned onto them.
“Uncle named them,” she grinned with a lighthearted shrug before following the other’s doings and plopping down in the grass nearby, stretching her legs out, feet resting on one of the bigger rocks on the riverside. Warm from the sun, it burnt her just a little bit, in that wonderful reassuring way that only made her feel alive.
Though again, his words made her grin widen and just to tease, she stated: “Ohoho --, you not stealing from the field is not same as you being nice.” She stretched her arms, too, in a cat-like manner, humming softly and squinting in the sun for a few moments before speaking in a more placatory tone of voice. “-- It’s Eliza, just so you know.”
hoy ahoy, je suis back!
i’m leaving for a camp tomorrow morning and so there is no chance of me gaining access on the internet in the next two weeks. i know i haven’t been on much but, just know that even my lurking shall stop now for a while.

The bag, heavy with the fat, juicy mushrooms farmer Maggot was so widely famed for, was dropped to the ground in shock and then quickly picked up again when Pippin realised that it was just his niece that had caught him. Merry had warned him about her, he recalled, and they had seen her around from afar a few times - and although she looked far less intimidating than her uncle, Pippin was still not very pleased she’d caught him. He’d been so careful to pick a day when the old farmer was gone, and now this! Still, the reassuring thing about her was that she was neither in the company of big, raging dogs nor a very pointy hayfork, and that, in his opinion, ruled her out as a threat.
A slow, deliberate grin spread across Pippin’s lips as he considered his various options. Then, waving the bag merrily at her, he jumped to his feet.
“ Ye’ll have tae catch me if ye want ‘em back! ”
He was always up for a bit of a chase.
Things like these did not need to be asked for twice, when it came to this certain lass. -- And especially when mushrooms were in business, especially those coming from her uncle’s lands. The chase had begun and truth be told, she was a worthy opponent to any of the dogs (even though they always won in the end) and believed that a hobbit should not be too hard for her to take, though he had a head start. “I will, you bet I bloody well will!”¨
Racing with the dogs, to her, was nothing like chasing a hobbit struggling with a big sack of stolen mushrooms, really. And she was going to take him down. And she was going to enjoy it. It was all so boring before he turned up, after all...
Cross My Heart
brandybuckoftheshire:
Stifling a laugh when she nearly fell into the water, but as the Dog began to approach him he stood still. Swallowing thickly and he was once more saved by the little Hobbit, he then nodded. “Meriadoc, or Merry. Whichever you take kindly to, ‘shroom.” He murmured with a grin, stuffing his hands into his trouser pockets with a curious look to the hound. “Does he have a name?” Merry questioned, removing his hands and taking a few steps forward to the duo. “He won’t hurt me, will he?” Came the nervous and uneasy question then.
Eliza’s grin widened as once again she realised, he only got that much of a name from her, though in the very next moment, her attention was wholly with the dog. Her fingers were now rubbing gently at his side and really, he was half sitting, half lying at her feet. -- Though the other hobbit coming a single step closer had him sitting straight up, quiet but with a suspicious glint to his eye.
“His name is Grip,” she grinned, going on with her comforting touches as if she hadn’t noticed his change of posture. “-- And you can always hope.” At another step closer, Grip barked, resulting in her wincing ever so slightly. “You see, it’s hard to break a habit. But maybe one day he’ll allow you close enough.” Then, whispering to the dog, she shoved him back towards the water and in that moment, he was gone, splashing around, wiggling his tail.
eldestnephewfili:
“Well met, Eliza. I think we should be able to find this dog of yours then if he is as large as you say,” he smiled at the red head, “And by big, do you mean eh big?” he asked, at the ‘eh’ he lifted his hand and moved it a bit up and down infront of him to get an idea just how big this lost fellow was.
They walked on through the forest and Fili listened and smelled the air every once in a while, “I smell food nearby. Perhaps he has gone on an adventure to find it too?” he suggested. He ran a hand through his blond locks as they reached a small, but steep hill they would need to climb down from.
Eliza let out a soft huff as, even though she was being helped -- and was rather thankful about that, she felt that thinking finding Fang was so easy was a kind of a mockery of her own skills. She’s searched for him before, she knew him best... She should have just taken the other dogs with her, only she worried about them getting lost as well.
“Big about-- about like this,” she stopped to briefly turn around and leave her palm floating in the height above her hip, dropping few moments after as she started walking, a step ahead of him at the time. -- At the other’s suggestion she merely thought for a moment -- “He.. could be hungry by now,” she then admitted reluctantly, glancing at the other before she started on her way down the hill, as she didn’t really want to lose a moment.
Be brave, be wild, and be kind to yourself. Accept only good things, and more importantly, only exceptional love.
