and i KNOW it is used in reference to AI - but i can’t help but think that’s in reference to the mind flayer too. it’s an organism (perhaps controlled by vecna, no one really told us 💀) with no human conscience, and yet it initially mocks human behaviour with will (and albeit b*lly) so well, while still slipping up at times (b*lly acting calm at dinner and will saying “you’re mom”/forgetting people and hesitating at naming mike)

I think they’re gonna use a lot of parallels and callbacks in season 5 to convince the audience that Mike is in love with Will.

‘Cause how do you convince the audience of something that is apparently brand new?? You show them what they already know.

For example: We might get a lot of Mike being overprotective when Vecna is trying to get to Will. We’ve seen this in season 2, it’s not anything new. But now we can see it in a new perspective.

We might get callbacks to things like “I’m the only one who cares about Will.” and “We’ll go crazy together” and no one can say that his feelings came out of nowhere, because all of these moments have been used before.

Because that’s the thing, it’s always been there, we’re just seeing it in a new light.
