💥𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞💥 • 📚The human heart is an amazing organ. In one day, it beats 115,000 times and pumps 2,000 gallons of blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels. As amazing as this might all sound, heart disease continues to be the number one killer of both males and females in the United States. - 🔎According to the CDC, someone dies from heart disease every 36 seconds and approximately 655,000 Americans die (1 in 4 deaths) every year from this disease. This amounts to around $219 billion in annual healthcare related expenses! - 🧠What can you do to help reduce your risk of developing heart disease? Here are several lifestyle factors, which you have direct control over and can play a huge role in the development of this disease: . 1️⃣Healthy Weight & Nutrition - A diet that meets your caloric needs (doesn’t surpass it) and includes a variety of fruits and vegetables of different colors (eat the rainbow) and lean meats is a good general guideline for most people. - 2️⃣Limit Alcohol Use - Excessive alcohol intake lead to approximately 95,000 deaths in the US. In general, females should aim to consume 1 alcoholic drink/day or less and males should strive for 2 drinks/day or less. - 3️⃣Physical Activity - Only 50% of US adults get the physical activity they need to prevent chronic disease and approximately 1 in 2 adults live with some type of chronic disease. We should all aim to get in 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise each week. This might sound like a lot, but it is only 30 minutes, 5 days per week. And, you can break the 30 minutes up into smaller bite size chunks! - ✅I know these times are stressful and many people feel too overwhelmed to think about their health. But, this can also be a great opportunity to implement new positive habits, especially when we consider that our health is the one thing that will give us more time on this planet! . #physiorehab2.0 Admin: @dr.rupamsarkar https://www.instagram.com/p/CHVdf3hAFUK/?igshid=1al69am1kkh14
