If only the other would cry then it might prove his own humanity—the thing he seemed to love so much. To hear him spout such backhanded remarks about her senpai was enough to make her clench her fist in distaste. Spending a few weeks in this city has taught her to be patient and she wasn’t about to let him knock down all she had worked hard to achieve.

"I do not understand where you have accumulated the foolish idea of our kinship but such a thing does not exist so long as you are an enemy to Shizuo-senpai. If you believe that seeing me brings you joy, so be it. It is not the same on my end."

Was that patience he was witnessing? Goodness gracious, someone call a doctor, Izaya might pass out!

This city was full of oddities and so far, Izaya was loving it. Even the blonde, who hated him so much.

"Ah…" Izaya pretends to wince and the fact that it’s fake is obvious to anyone who knows him. Him? Hurt by such words? Nonsense. Nevertheless, he keeps up the facade. "So harsh… Do you really hate me that much? I’m just a poor man looking to make a living, you know~."

That drawl at the end of his sentence trails off into silence and he breaks into another sly smirk.

She didn't like the sound of that. A poor man looking to make a living? The idea of having an information broker in this city sounded terrible. Still, if there was anyone who knew anything about everyone, Izaya and the mayor himself might have that solely in common. 

"You agitate Shizuo-senpai to the point of hatred and because I work with him, an enemy that is his own is mine as well." Vorona states simply and purely as she attends other costumers, not ignoring her duties simply because a flea was trying to anger her. "If you are looking for a job, perhaps you can pick up garbage. It would be suitable for someone like yourself."

 So violent… So hateful… Izaya approaches her with utmost respect and benevolence and this is how she repays him?

Vorona, dear, you’ll make a grown man cry!

Puffing an amused noise between his lips, the ravenet slipped his hands back into his jacket pockets. “I wasn’t planning on working here, so don’t you worry your pretty little head. I know what violent and uncontrollable beast lurks behind those doors.” It was obvious to him that Shizuo was a part of the staff here. He didn’t even need his knowledge of the populace or the work rosters of certain businesses around downtown to conclude that much.

Vorona was here, after all.

Izaya flapped the ends of his jacket, lightly smacking the ends of his zipper against his thighs. “You’re so quick to get rid of me! It hurts me to my very core, you know, Vorona. I thought it’d be nice to see an old friend!”

The ruckus was what caught the ravenet’s attention. What could possibly be going on? It wasn’t loud or destructive enough for it to be Shizu-chan’s work. He did recall seeing—

Ah, yes~. It’s Vorona!

"Imagine that! I knew you were here, but selling baked goods didn’t strike me as a possible line of work for someone so abusive!" Izaya sauntered on up, though kept a respectable distance. He wouldn’t dare get within arm’s length of her! He rather liked the way his face was arranged presently, thank you.

"So- are those free?"

Oh she'll show you abuse buddy. Once she was off her shift that is. Wouldn't want to scare off all the customers she worked so hard to bring here now would she? 

"It is quite therapeutic to knead the dough and slap it onto the wooden board when baking breads and pastries. I have my doubts if someone as yourself would understand--and before you even try to ask, there are no job positions available." And even if there were, Shizuo might bust a vein at the idea of working alongside the other.

"No. As you can see from the individual I was dealing with nearly moments ago, they are not free. You can, like any other patron attending this cafe, pay for them and be on your way, da? It would make both of our days go much quicker and smoother should you follow my recommendation."

She was this close to beating up some poor fool who was trying to snatch away some snacks the chef just made. (Really? They were cheap--why would he even bother?) But then--

How could she ignore it any longer? A certain flea was here, at least how her senpai called him, and being at work, there wasn't a single thing she could do in front of costumers to scare him away.

The brunette felt his eye catch on the pretty woman that happened to be holding samples of sweet stuff as well as drinks and he felt his stomach rumble softly. Ah well, it wouldn’t hurt. Making his way over, he smiled at her before looking at the selection, head tilting. “Are these free?” He asked softly, not wanting to take one and not pay her by accident. Though, if they were good, he would probably end up actually going inside.

She nods and places one of each sweet item onto a small paper plate, accompanying it with a napkin. "Yes, please do help yourself. They are baked fresh daily or to order--if you are having a party or an event outside of the cafe. We do deliveries and to-go. If you are going in, take this coupon, your entire purchase will be 10% off."

Being stared at by a woman with a tray of drinks and food was making him uncomfortable. He walks over to her being curious and cautious “What are you doing?”

"Advertising--is my actions not obvious? Please, do try some, they are quite delicious and freshly made."

[She stands outside the cafe with sweet samples of cookies and brownies along with tea and coffee samples. She's looking at you like you should try some. Come over and talk, she's nice. Maybe you could even go inside and actually buy freshly made stuff too.]

Sunday Morning | Vorona and Shizuo

Shizuo had been caught in the rain earlier, and struggled to get home in a dry condition. Without the use of an umbrella, he had suffered the consequences and dragged himself in, sopping wet, and all but threw himself into a warm shower. After he was sure he wouldn’t die of hypothermia, he’d dried himself off and changed into a t-shirt and sweatpants, a towel draped over his shoulder to keep the water dribbling from his hair off his shoulders.

A small, black cat leaps up at Shizuo’s leg, then clambers his way up to his shoulder. Hello, Monty. You’re as clingy as ever.

Wiggling his nose in front of the stray he’d gotten a few months before, Shizuo walks out from the hallway to the small living room, figuring his roommate would be seated there.

"Ah— yeah, but I’ll go make it myself, though," he replies after a bit. The weather was making him just a tad bit sleepy, draining his energy, and the warm shower he had just taken wasn’t keeping him awake much, either. "Enjoying the weather? It’s dreary."

The rain is pleasant weather when one is indoors. It means the creation of warm foods and drinks which is always comforting and easy to digest.

[She turns to him and as well as to Monty. Senpai has a cute cat? Somehow, she's not surprised. In fact, it sounds very senpai-like.] 

If you are to rest on the sofa, you should have the towel underneath your head so you do not get colds tomorrow morning. I cannot cook but there are some leftovers from the cafe. The manager said I could take some for us.

[With that, she gets off her chair and into the hallway where the rooms were, only to return with pillows and blankets--for him and Monty at least.]

Disgusting. These anonymous messengers were truly scum. 

"I can see that you messengers do not know when to cease your useless attempts. Show your face mудак and you’ll lose more than just your virginity.”
