Intro post

Hey! I'm Rusty/Camo/Moss/Whatever other cool name I find because I can't choose and also don't want to.

Just a short intro post because I don't owe you strangers on the internets any info about me:

I love:

The colour red (so so much, you should see my irl outifts, I look practically aposematic).

Reading lots and lots of books! (Hit my target of 50 for 2025 which I'm so proud of).

Relatedly, the library! I love books and I love community spaces and I love free access to judgement-free information and enteratinment, what's not to love?

Crafts! You better believe that any day of the week I might be starting a whole new craft. Some favs I have done: Jewellery making, mask making (just once), working with clay, a little drawing, paper crafts and more :)

Plants/Gardening! My room is essentially a jungle and the worms are conspiring against me.

Physical/old media. I actually love it soooo much!! My tapes, my cds, my mp3 all of it, it gives me so much joy and every month I spend way too much money investing in more.

... and whatever piques my interest! I am a very uhh soluble or fluid person, I'll change with the weather and gain new interests as I go.

My profile picture was a commission by @stealingpotatoes (it is not a picrew contrary to popular belief!), her art is so so gorgeous so absolutely check that out and if you have the available money, and they are open, consider buying a comission?

Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.

At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.

Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”

Thank you so freaking much for your sex repulsed ace comic. I don't understand why being a virgin is seen as shameful or bad, I think the logic behind it is that "you were such a failure that you couldn't even get a single person to be intimate with you", but that's just stupid. It ignores all other forms of intimacy. Having sex, for me, would mean that I failed in asserting my boundaries and succumbed to my people pleaser tendencies, doing something that would wreck me in the process. Or, it would mean I was raped. I DO want to die as a virgin, thank you. I will, if all goes to plan.

I will add that, as a person with a womb, the thought of getting pregnant is horrifying. It would already freak me out, that my body would respond to sex despite me not wanting to at all, but the idea that more unwanted changes would come from that terrifies me. There's already plenty of humans on the planet. Adoption sounds lovely.

Amen, and amen. My spouse wants kids someday, but a big part of why I'm comfortable with the idea in the first place is only because I wouldn't be the one mothering. I also just can't fathom the thought. And body agency should be respected as what it is.

Regarding having sex meaning that you failed, and how that contrasts with the narrative that's most often pushed on to us, I absolutely agree too. It also has so many unfortunate implications. I can imagine how it can feel liberating for a lot of people, but I also shudder at the thought of how many people might have been pushed to force themselves into something rushedly when they weren't ready or not necessarily with the best partner for them, or... Yeah, most notably for us, sex-repulsed asexuals who go through with it anyway because the pressure is that overgrown. It's kinda messed up.
