“that was gross and you should be ashamed of that joke,” she scoffed, rolling her eyes and ducking her head. “yeah, but it was your assnine idea to do it there. i was headed to a practice room, but you’re too horny to walk three feet to the right,” sunjoo insisted, groaning a little as he kissed her again. “i’ve barely debuted and you’re gonna be the end of my fucking career,” she muttered, pouting again.

“hardly. i’m pretty proud, actually. got a good reaction,” he told her, fingers sliding under her sweater and up her bare skin. she was funny when she was annoyed. the fact that she tried so hard to pretend like she didn’t like him, too, was very entertaining. it was a fun game to tease her until she dropped that pretense. “no fun. no risk. i pride myself on having many different ways to get your heart racing. two birds, one stone,” he insisted, kissing down her neck (and admittedly debating on whether or not to give her a hickey tbh-- it wasn’t like she was promoting. at most, her groupmates and sister would tease her, and that was funny). “i can’t wait for some mc to ask you what your ideal type is.... and for you to think of this moment, right now.... and get all red and flustered...” he whispered in her ear.

“yeah it is, but the ranked split just swapped over to olympus, so you could easily play without having to step foot on kc at all,” hyeja assured him.

“then maybe i’ll try it. i dunno. i’m more of a warzone guy.”

he sighed, grumbling. “it’s not your fault. i’m just annoyed,” he replied under his breath

“oh, please. i know that we’re only doing this live because you went and pulled strings so you could pretend to the world like you get any female attention. don’t spin this on me,” she retorted. 

“if i pulled the strings, i would get someone less distracting. like myungji. i bet she wouldn’t be squawking in my ear non-stop,” he answered, looking up to smile at a personal assistant giving him a call. “you should really compose yourself, though-- we’re on in five. try to keep your obnoxious-ness contained.”

“this has to be one of the stupidest things i’ve ever done,” sunjoo grumbled, pouting a little, nose to nose with jaebin in the janitors closet. she wasn’t sure when the taunting and the jabs had turned into sexual tension, but somewhere, it had, and she wasn’t too prideful to ignore that. clearly he hadn’t been either. but their rendezvous kept getting riskier and riskier, and at this moment in question, they’d needed to slide into a closet to hide after nearly being spotted by a pr rep on her way to lunch while they’d been kissing in a hallway. “this is why i don’t spend time with you, jaebin. every time you just get me in trouble. god.” @rvjaebin​

“hey, i’m not that stupid,” jaebin quipped back, hands resting on her waist. honestly, he could think of worse situations to be caught in. “hey, if i recall correctly, you were kissing me back. you weren’t trying to get away. this isn’t all my fault.” if he really took the time to analyze, he probably always liked her. and any of his teasing had never been malicious-- a little biting maybe, but never downright mean. maybe he should be more frustrated, but he was mostly just happy with himself. he was having repeated engagements with a pretty girl who made him laugh. he won. “you need to be quieter,” he told her with a smile, kissing her as the footsteps grew louder. “someone’s going to hear you....”

“we don’t. i think nathan is trying to figure it out, though. or trying to appeal to spotlight to let them give us a little more leniency. because you’re right– it isn’t necessary.”

he sighed dramatically. “i just get so frustrated. like we’re supposed to have so much control allegedly, but i still get two lines a song max. it’s not fair.”

“every game has growing pains and ideas that don’t pan out as well as others. and rampart wasn’t nearly as impactful as i think respawn though they’d be. but season 7 brought a lot of people back, and it’s still a really great game,” hyeja insisted.

“is king’s canyon still in rotation? because if it’s gone i might actually give the game another try.”

“okay, okay. i get it. no need to draw it out more– i got the message,” nathan sighed. “i don’t have nearly as much say as i’d like but…. i’ll figure out how to make sure you get more next comeback. i promise.”

“thanks. i appreciate all the work you do, you know? our group is good. i just feel left behind sometimes.”

“i’ve learned from the best. maybe all your jack-assedness rubbed off on me,” sunjoo sang, collecting her hair over one shoulder. “i guess i have you to thank for showing me what a real annoying prick looks like.”

“and by no choice of my own. maybe you’d be better off if you weren’t clinging to my arm for the past five years,” jae insisted with an eyeroll. “speaking of-- how much did you beg to get on a live with your favorite oppa, huh?”

noah almost felt bad when he listened to jaebin’s idea – he never had to worry about lines, and definitely never had to worry about if he should try to be a rapper. or maybe he was just an asshole for worrying that maybe he wasn’t the best person to be on a song next to if the younger member thought he might only be passable at rapping. still, noah nodded, “yeah sure dude,” he replied earnestly, “it doesn’t really seem like spotlight has solid ideas for what to do with his parts anyway, if you want to try them out, why shouldn’t we?”

“you get it! even if it was just for concerts or something,” jaebin said desperately, excited that someone actually agreed with his idea. “or we should just cut all those extra lines and give the non-main vocalists more stuff! why can’t spotlight see that’s how everyone would be happiest?”

“if i could give you my rap lines i would, jaebin, i would. i swear,” joonie replied with a long suffering sigh. “i honestly don’t why wee need another rapper at all. having noah is more than enough.”

“that’s what i’m saying. us having three rappers was ridiculous when daeyeon was here, and still having like four rappers is even stupider. we don’t have nearly enough members for that. or time in songs.”

“okay, i take back what i said then. i guess the new season really saved it, because i know everyone was saying it was dead in the water for season six.”

“i know, and i agree, but those aren’t my decisions. you’re talking to the wrong guy,” nathan replied, hands up in surrender. “i’m just doing what spotlight told me to do. even if i disagree on the matter.”

“whatever. it’s still stupid. we have so many members-- no one needs that much of the song. why am i even here?” jaebin retorted bitterly with a pout
