“solhee, sweetie, have you seen my haircuts? even before i debuted? i promise you, that wasn’t the styling department,” she laughed. solhee was cute. even if this wasn’t for a bet with rhiann she’d be looking to pursue it, to be honest. “depends on who its with, i guess. if i got into a scandal with, say... someone from your company maybe..... lot more impactful...”

“well, there hasn’t been a high profile spotlight lgbtq scandal yet,” solhee said with a tiny smile. “honestly, i would have though joori would have come out a long time ago, but i don’t think this company has ever had someone come out or be caught with a same sex partner. … does that count as a scandal?”

“in korea? that counts,” jia assured her, stifling a laugh and leaning back, arms crossed over her chest. her brain was going a million miles an minute. she was getting vibes, and if she was going to win her contest with ryan, she had to shoot her shot sometime. “it’s a real shame, i think. the only way people are going to be accustomed to queer people is if they see them. maybe i oughta get into that sort of trouble...get the ball rolling...”

Doah didn’t mind running errands for her friends, in fact, during this little mini break she wanted to spend as much time, however cold, soaking up as much sun and fresh air as she could. So when the other requested her to go pick up a book at the store for her, she didn’t mind going and grabbing it. Maybe she’d even grab a book of her own. She’s on facetime with them,  about to announce that she’s finally found the book when she sees the meme they were showing her on the screen, “I—” She starts before moving the phone out of her face so she can at least try and contain her laugh, “SO ANYWAYS, i found the book.”

mengxia bit back a smile, crossing her legs under her. “oh? did you? that all you have to say?” she laughed. “well, thank you. i’ll put that to good use,” she giggled. she did appreciate doah grabbing her a language book for her. with polaris’ comeback on the horizon, she wanted to make sure her korean was immaculate.

“you know what could be fun? scandal bingo,” solhee said sarcastically with a grin. “it’s january– why don’t we try to predict what some spotlight nonsense that will happen this year will be? because with spotlight…..something’s going to happen. it’s just a matter of when.”

“what’s even left?” mengxia pointed out with a little laugh. “there’s been a sex scandal.... bullying shit for years.... members leaving.... pregnancies. what’s even left? someone’s going to have to come out. that’s less nonsense and bad than it is good, but that’ll make waves. and it’s coming.”

“I guess that’s true. Having such big groups, you’d almost expect there to be even bigger gaps than there are. Which… there definitely still is if you’re looking at who sings or raps the most, but it feels like for the most part everyone’s had some kind of moment, you know? Like… Rosie’s never had it good when it comes to lines, but without a doubt she was the most memorable part of Butterfly choreo.”

“it’s different there too, though. like...i don’t know how much  you’ve talked to rosie, but she’s happy,” mengxia commented. “like....she’s in her comfort zone, and she’s happy just being there. and biyi too-- she seems like she’s just excited to be in a group again. new age totally has it’s faults, but it’s a lot better than i think most people realize.”

“may the best lesbian win,” jia retorted with a wry smile. “no cheating, though. i don’t know what constitutes cheating but....no cheating.”

“how long do i need to be an idol for before i can get a full sleeve tattoo,” xifeng mused aloud. “like, i don’t even know if i want one yet. but i just want to know…”

“literally look at lia, and then ask me that question again. you’re a clown,” jia laughed

“I came across a couple of photos of myself when I was cleaning earlier from when I first arrived in Seoul. I actually don’t think I’ve seen someone try so hard to look like a badass as I did then as a teenager–it’s no wonder I got turned down all those times at auditions,” Ohkyung said with a dry chuckle.

“sometimes i worry if i come off like i’m trying too hard but like..... i dunno. i think i just am like this. the confidence and the look aren’t forced,” jia retorted with a tiny smile

“okay, lets make a pact then,” jia answered seriously, wry smile on her face. “it’s time for us to turn out game on and find a girlfriend. or a boyfriend, i guess-- i don’t want to imply anything for you but....we both need to find a sidepiece before liyang and sangmin get serious. deal?”
