it wasn’t often that yoonseok was involved in something big enough for a big premiere, but he’d been cast as a secondary role in a big drama with some huge names, which meant a real premiere, and of course his family was invited. even if they weren’t household names they would have been invited, but even more so seeing as their appearance would only bring more eyes to the show. “you look very nice,” yoonseok complimented his family, adjusting his cufflinks. “are you almost ready to go?”

“don’t you have a drama that’s about to start filming? you should be studying your own lines…” she insisted, dragging her feet before nodding, running over to get her extra script so he could give him one of them. “it’s not much. just a scene. it’s not a big eval, but….” she trailed off.

“i’m only playing a secondary role. i don’t show up until episode four, and i have my lines for that shoot memorized,” he assured his daughter, taking the script from her with a smile. “it’s still important. what’s the scene about? what’s your objective?”

“surely we’re not home alone this evening, are we?” kyungjoo commented, looking up from the couch. sure, most of their children had left the nest to go move into dorms and start the next chapter of their careers, but the nest wasn’t empty quite yet. not that she’d be complaining about a night relaxing with her partner, of course.. “where are naeun and goeun?” @rvyoonseok​ @rvjinkyung​

“i think we are,” yoonseok said after taking a moment’s pause to think. “naeun is spending the night at the spotlight trainee dorms-- she said something about an early morning evaluation, and how she didn’t to get up extra early to commute. and goeun went to a movie with riki....” he recalled. “that’s at least a few hours of solace...”

“I think I understand. It’s like… you don’t want to be ungrateful or anything. But it’s like someone took a picture of your shadow and are saying that it’s a picture of you, when it’s not really,” Daul said, then pausing. “… I don’t know if that makes sense, but I think I get it. It doesn’t feel great to not get noticed for something you’re putting a lot of effort into.”

“that’s a pretty apt description, actually. fairly insightful too,” yoonseok admitted with a nod. he had trouble putting how he felt into words, but daul had somehow perfectly stumbled into what yoonseok was feeling. kids really were wiser than many gave them credit for. “i hope your debut goes well. i’m sure dongeun may feel similarly, and i don’t want that to weigh on him either.... there’s a lot of members of your group that seem to be in similar water on that one, actually...”

“i kind of get conflicted sometimes,” yoonseok admitted. “i chose to be on jinkyung’s show, and i don’t regret it. but i’m known more from that reality show than i am for my acting. it’s a weird feeling.” he sighed. “i love my family, and i swear, i don’t mind the show. but i’ve been acting my whole life, and it’s my dream job. it just....feels weird.”

“you know, it’s nice being not-famous here yet,” zak admitted. “i know that’s gonna change when my group debuts, but i couldn’t walk anywhere in LA without getting someone pointing at me. it’s cool to be normal for a few months.”

“no one recognizes you here? i thought those kinds of shows would still get some sort of traction,” yoonseok mused. “you should enjoy it for now, though-- debuting in a higher group is going to blow  you up way more than your show did. trust me.”

[rvgoeun]

“if you’re too busy, it’s okay… i won’t be upset,” goeun insisted softly, hugging her script to her chest. “i just need to have this script memorized for my eval tomorrow and thought it would be easier if someone ran lines with me but… i can ask my sister. maybe she’s free…”

[rvyoonseok]

“sweetheart, i’m hardly too busy. and i’m definitely less busy than naeun is,” he said with a little chuckle. “bring me the script. lets see what i can do to help you out.”

“daaaaad, i need your help!” soeun whined, tugging on her dad’s arm like a petulant child (a cute one, though). “we’re working on our face acting before our debut, and i’m just so bad at it! i need you to make me better!” @soladarv​

“you know i’m an actor, right? not a .... face actor?” he answered, a little confused but laughing at his daughter’s insistence. “i know how to react to give a realistic performance, not how to convey musical concepts but....i can try to help, i suppose.”
