To answer OP’s original question, the reason that canonically there is so much murder on The Purge is because the government uses that night to kill poor people, sick people, people of colour, which is normally the sort of thing that gets a country dragged before the World Court, but not if all crime is legal for the night AND it looks like it wasn’t the government doing it. Because remember, if something is legal for you on Purge Night, it’s legal for everyone else.

So it is perfectly understandable if your Purge plan is to hide inside your home and lock all your doors and windows.

Ok, super interesting and eye opening. But as a neurotypical parent of an ADHD kid: what is the *right* thing to do? How can I support my child instead of making everything worse?

I get the cautionary tale, but where's the part that goes "So here's what the adults should do instead:..."?

I try to motivate my kid towards constructive activities (reading, drawing, going out, playing with their friends...), and I don't press them when they forget to do something. But I fear this is not enough?
