VIVA is a short film set in the near future when the government has introduced a scheme that encourages people over 70 years old to 'opt out'. They do this to help with a climate collapse and aging population with no social safety net.

The film follows a couple on the eve of their 'departure' as they gather those closest for one last meal. This leads to frank discussions about life, age, care, the environment and an offensive card game.

My other half has film on RTÉ player right now called VIVA.

It presupposes a world in 2035 where the climate collapse is in full swing and the Government has introduced a scheme called VIVA which, given the cost of living and lack of housing, pays for people 75+ to end their lives voluntarily to take pressure off services and reduce population and carbon footprint.

The short film centres around a film on the last night of a family before ‘departure’

We were due to shoot an ambitious short film called Changeling on 16th of March 2020. Obviously this didn’t happen because of the pandemic and cast and crew travelling from all over Ireland to take part.

I’m hoping that we can jump right into production again as soon as it is safe to do so.

It’s an Irish language folklore horror that deals with isolation, hunger and the mind. Can’t wait to make it.
