So, the update today...

The missing piece of the shadow spirit is almost definitely the thing possessing Max, right? 

I mean, the thing has a huge piece missing. 

And PossesedMax has alluded to being broken or seperated from something.

Also we know Spender and Lucy are using Lucy’s light powers to keep the “freaky shadow spirit” at bay. 

And we noticed that Max is especialy sensitive to light. 

So it seems likely that the thing in Max is the missing part of FSS (Freaky Shadow Spirit)

Also consider the fact that Doorman calls the spirit talking through Max a “broken god,” you just have to translate his High Spirit to see it.

Now I’m no expert…

But I’d say that looks like a “broken god” to me.

Genuinely sad. And by genuinely sad I mean I’m actually crying right now in front of my desk while I type this.
