1) Anecdotal: Is there ever a calm and copecatic day for nurses and doctors in a hospital?
2) Hard: Nurses and Doctors work at their best ability not only to help treat patients as they come, but also keep the place a safe and calm atmosphere. As patients leave, more come. What does it take to keep these nurses and doctors going throughout a busy shift. How often do they see a calm shift?
3) Scene: On Thursday at 12 a.m. nurses were not to be seen behind the check in desk due to high demand needed in the back. As people began to enter and wait, screams escaped from the room behind the counter. A woman was seated on a bench with a mask and an elderly woman was led inside by a woman assisting her to walk. Leaves littered the floor and slid across the tile each time the automatic doors opened.
Greenwich Village’s Lenox Hill Hospital is an occuring series of events. With so much chaos going on, the check in desk is deserted at times. As I walked into the hospital, there was a girl in the waiting room with her face covered by a mask. Even though there was a lot going down behind the corridors, the hospital was silent and felt desolate. As I stood by the front desk waiting to be attended to, an older woman was locked in arms with a younger lady. The younger lady was assisting the older woman as she hobbled on one leg, avoiding from putting pressure on the other leg.
Once I was signed in, identity bracelet on my wrist, vitals checked, and began the walk to an assigned cubicle, a woman threw herself on the ground. I was suprised when nurses and security simply stood by the woman just watching instead of approaching her for help. I then got the hint that the woman was mentally ill and had been causing a scene prior to my arrival. After being asked several times by staff to get up, the woman continued to yell, “shut up.” The staff assured her that if she continued to act out or hurt herself with hopes of recieving a hospital room, they would have to make her leave her cubicle. As the woman began to carry on about how she hated the staff, she started to undress herself.
Even though it was nearly 1 in the morning, the ER was packed with patients. There was not an empty cubicle in sight. Doctors and nurses were pressed to help people as efficiently and quickly as possible. More security guards approached the homeless woman and tried to keep her calm. They stood around her to make sure she did not only cause harm to people around her, but also to prevent her from harming herself.
After waiting an hour and a half to be seen, a nurse began to ask me symptoms and handed me a cup with an orange lid. After going to the restroom and assesing what had to be done with the cup, I waited another 45 minutes. A young doctor introduced himself and explained what he reccomends me to do in order to help treat my kidney infection. While explaining, a nurse came to my cubicle with needles, IV fluids, and tubes to take blood. As the nurse began my treatment process, the homeless woman began to scream again. With her pants wrapped around the bottom of her leg, she waddled and escaped into the bathroom. As I watched, saline cooled my veins.
As time began to progress and after six hours in the hospital, I was finally released. I had not seen the homeless woman since she resided in the bathroom. As I walked into the waiting room to exit the main doors, I saw the woman again. She was sprawled out on the couch in the waiting room without pants. Unsure with what to do, security guards had their backs turned to the woman to block sight from anyone entering or leaving the hospital.

Women’s Pockets are Inferior- The Pudding
Questions:
1. How many people were measured to figure out the so called average hand size?
2. Are sizes of pockets different in the ranging of styles?
3. If pants are considered skinny, wouldn’t it be unreasonable/ awkward looking if pockets were as big as the average male size pockets?
Questions for the people:
1. If pants don’t have pockets at all, do women still purchase them as much as they purchase pants with pockets?
2. Do some people not understand that in the fashion sense, larger pockets would affect the apperance of the pant?
3. How many women are obligated to carry a purse because their phone/wallet don’t fit in their pocket?
4. Do people still buy things from Abercrombie?

- Homeless lady “fell” on the floor and her dress lifted up exposing her. The woman continued to scream and began taking off her dress.
- 4 men in black suits (security) standing by the homeless woman
- Doctor engaged in conversation with me about my symptoms, hit (gently) both sides of my back with a closed fist
- Handed a plastic cup with a orange lid. Sticker with my personal information was stuck on it
- My friend arrived and sat in the chair next to me
- The woman continued to scream then escaped into the bathroom
- A young nurse approached with an IV stand, tubes, and needles
- The nurse had a large saringe with saline
- Blood was drawn into two tubes (blood dripped cause she didn’t close the tab)
- Nurses declined my requests to drink water
- The air smelt salty
- The table next to me had coffee stains and the floor was littered with dead leaves
Radical Revision
A Day In The Life Of An Artist
Ryder Frieder
Fitch Ball is a 28 year old artist who also works as a manager at the popular West Village restaurant, Jack’s Wife Freda. It’s people like Fitch who makes the restaurant into the cozy and upbeat atmosphere it is. Almost on her third year at the restaurant, Fitch spends her off hours being a student and artist. As she and I began to talk, I was intrigued by her passion for her art work and was sparked to ask, “What’s your ideal day?”
“My ideal deal day would start by waking up at 8, boiling water for tea, and meditating for about three minutes until my tea is ready. I just got this new rich golden tea. I’d then write in my journal for 45 minutes, do yoga in the living room, and then go to the studio.” Like many artists and people living in the city, Fitch decompresses by finding her inner self while meditating, doing yoga, and self reflecting in her journal.
The creative minded artist fully lets loose in her studio in Bushwick. She focuses on the body and core. Fitch’s work ranges from videos and sounds to live performances. “I like to get weird” she says as she describes her character, Shame Daddy. In that particular performance, she wears a strap on and transforms shameful stories into celebration and sexual pleasure. By pushing herself in challenging and funny ways, Fitch focuses on reappropriation, the culture of permission, and being respectful to one another's bodies. While helping others with body exploration, Fitch also has to limit her time in the studio to prevent from overworking herself.
After Fitch spends her time in the studio, she goes home and decompresses by making some food and sitting on the couch to watch Netflix. Her new favorite food is a grilled cheese with pesto and granny smith apples. When it comes to Netflix, she has invested her interests in the new show “Sex Education”. The show goes into the new generation expectations on sex as well as informing viewers on consent and the normality of having different sexual interests than everyone else. Fitch enjoys the scenery of the show as for it is based in the United Kingdom.
As the day progresses and Fitch has done everything on her to-do list, she’d meet a friend for a drink at Sally Roots in Brooklyn. She is a sucker for a well made cocktail and anything that involves tequila.
Fitch’s ideal dinner plans would consist of Cowboy Tacos with friends. Cowboy Tacos are tacos, but made with anything in the house. When it comes to dinner, Fitch can be experimental. When friends come over, they always bring either a bottle of wine or a dish. She and her friends discuss art and politics. After dinner she’d end her night with sex or go out dancing.
Fitch and her girlfriend Ashley have been together for two years and are parents of a cat named Rudy. Rudy was originallys Ashley cat six years prior, but the two now share ownership of the cat. Fitch states, “Rudy and I have our own little routine whenever I come home”. Once Fitch opens the front door, Rudy runs into their bedroom and she follows her in there so Rudy can rub up against her. The relationship they have means a lot to Fitch as for she had to really gain Rudy’s trust. For a while Rudy was just Ashley’s cat, but now she’s their cat.
The Chinese authorities turned to a Massachusetts company and a prominent Yale researcher as they built an enormous system of surveillance and control.

Mickelson charged back to win the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the same course that will play host to the U.S. Open this year — the only major title he hasn’t won.
This is clearly foreshadowing. Can we just go ahead and say that not only is he gonna win, but he’s also going to be the oldest so called champion after
The Westminster dog show has brought hundreds of dogs into Manhattan for two days of grooming, petting, barking and judging.

How To Write Journalism
- Create a plan/ guide as to where to begin your story and where to end it. Do not rush in and just start writing.
- Don’t treat the audience like they’re stupid, but don’t try to “dress up” your words
- Simple but factual
- Introduction is the most important part. Hook the readers with a first line/intro paragraph
- After the introduction, the rest of the story is the most important. Now that readers are reading, craftfully place your facts, information, and observations
- Puns, puns, puns
