My latest drawing featuring Liu Kang x Sonya Blade on a double date with Jin Kazama x Christie Monteiro.

For the drawing, I based the characters largely on their appearances from the live-action movies while also mixing elements from the games.

Liu Kang is based on Robin Shou, but his shirt is the traditional Red color as opposed to the White that he wore in the 90s MK movies.

Sonya is based on Bridgette Wilson, but her shirt is the trademark Green color from the klassic MK games.

Christie is based on Kelly Overton, but she's also closer to how she often looked in the games.

Jin is based on Jon Foo, but he's wearing his hoodie from Tekken: Bloodline, albeit with the Blue color scheme from Tekken Tag Tournament.

My latest edit of Liu Kang x Sonya Blade, as they were depicted in the Mortal Kombat II movie.

I may not be a fan of the newer MK movies, but I did like Ludi Lin and Jessica McNamee as Liu Kang and Sonya (respectively).

There were some surprising amount of crumbs between the two in the films, especially in MK2, and I actually would have preferred it if the movie focused on them instead of sidelining them for Johnny Cage and Kitana.

Mortal Kombat X Tekken - AU comparisons

Liu Kang = Jin Kazama - The main heroes seeking revenge before embracing their roles as champions.

Sonya Blade = Christie Monteiro - The main love interests who find kindred spirits in the heroes.

Kung Lao = Hwoarang - The rivals/best friends to the main heroes, who have opposite personalities.

Raiden = Lei Wulong - The older mentor figures who guide the heroes into the right path.

Jax = Eddy Gordo - The loyal allies and teachers to the main females.

Johnny Cage = Paul Phoenix - The comedic fighters who compete seeking glory.

Kitana = Nina Williams - The female assassins who walk the line between good and evil.

Scorpion = Yoshimitsu - The Ninja/Samurai fighters.

Sub-Zero = King - The silent and often honorable warriors.

Kano = Bryan Fury - The cybernetically enhanced killing machines.

The poster for the upcoming Street Fighter movie, and some posters I made for my Mortal Kombat and Tekken AUs in that same style.

It would be great if all three had successful movies at this time, but unfortunately, I felt MK2 was mid (especially looking back). Plus, that film flopped, and as a result, it's unclear if SF is going to do well or not.

As for Tekken, there is a Tekken Cartoon in the works, but that's a completely different beast altogether (more akin to things like Teen Titans Go! or ThunderCats Roar), and as far as I know, there are no plans for a legit movie reboot.

I ship these two, ngl.

I know fans had issues with Jin x Christie in the live-action Tekken movie because several fans ship Jin x Xiaoyu (they had more interactions in canon whereas Jin didn't really interact with Christie in the games), and that's perfectly fine.

However, I do think these two can work in an AU.

Jin lost his mother, and Christie lost her grandfather, so there can be a bit of a bond between the two over their losses. Plus, Christie could genuinely ease Jin's pain with how optimistic she can be.

It's also worth noting there were a few pieces of fan art and fanfiction pairing Jin and Christie together some time before the movie was even in pre-production.

Plus, Christie and Xiaoyu aren't the only ones Jin has been paired with. There was also a Tekken 3 manhua that paired him with Julia, and that pairing had quite some shippers too.

But I digress...

Tekken movie - alternate what-if story

The story takes place in the future where the Mishima Zaibatsu reigns supreme. Once every while, they hold the King of Iron Fist Tournament to see who is the best fighter in the world, and even who is worthy of taking over the Zaibatsu.

Jin Kazama is a rebellious young fighter who attends the Mishima Polytechnical school. One night, Jin witnesses his mother Jun being attacked by Kazuya, but before Jin can intervene, his home blows up, which seemingly kills Jun.

In the aftermath, Jin finds Jun's invitation to a previous King of Iron Fist Tournament, and seeks revenge. Jin enters this year's tournament while being accompanied by his fellow Mishima Polytechnical students and friends - Ling Xiaoyu and Hwoarang.

Lei Wulong sort of serves as a mentor figure to Jin, Xiaoyu and Hwoarang, especially since he used to be partnered with Jun years ago. The heroes meet and befriend other fighters like Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Eddy Gordo and Julia Chang.

Most of the story would be Jin, Xiaoyu and Hwoarang making their way through the tournament by beating the likes of King, Yoshimitsu, Nina Williams and Bryan Fury.

Eventually, Jin confronts Kazuya, and learns that he's his son, and that he carries the Devil Gene. After encouragement from Lei, Xiaoyu and Hwoarang, Jin learns to accept who he is while also rising above the Mishima family curse.

Eventually, Jin defeats Kazuya, and becomes the tournament champion. In the end, Heihachi retreats and plots his revenge.

A mock poster I made for a potential theatrical animated Mortal Kombat movie from both WB Animation and New Line Cinema.

So far, there are no plans for such a project. But given WB Animation's recent announcement regarding their upcoming projects, I can see them potentially doing a MK animated movie.

They're producing Hello Kitty along with New Line, so I don't see why they can't do MK together.

If it does happen, I would love to see it done right, and actually have Liu Kang as the main character...Not Scorpion. Not Kitana. Not Bitch Boy aka Johnny Cage.

Liu fucking Kang, as John Tobias envisioned, and as he should be.

Ruthless Aggression (what-if 2000s film franchise)

Not gonna lie, it would have been cool if there was a WWE action movie between the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras.

They did make No Holds Barred in the 80s, and Ready to Rumble in 2000, but those movies kinda sucked, and they were more comedic.

For this idea, I thought of an alternate universe WWE where wrestlers battle to see who would be the dominant champion of the world. The concept is pretty much WWE meets Mortal Kombat and The Running Man.

I can see The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin as the main characters of the first movie (which would have dropped in 2002), and John Cena as the main character of the second movie (which would have been in 2005).

Other main characters in both movies would include The Undertaker as the mentor figure recruiting the heroes, plus, Kane and Stacy Keibler as the emotional core of the two films (they would have a bond that they never really had in the actual WWE programming).

Triple H would be the main villain of the first movie, and JBL would be the villain of the second one.

I don't think either movie would have been critical darlings, but they wouldn't need to be such since they would be straightforward action flicks that embrace WWE's theatrics in movie format.

I can also see Universal distributing the movies since Monday Night Raw was a flagship show of the USA Network for several years, but I digress.
