• g o o d m o r n i n g • Dry and hot sun warms my skin. I smell of sun and sand and dirt. Wildflowers, little crawling bugs in grass and tall wheat fields. You have to take the creatures in to commune with the spring and summer. Before it all dries up, let them crawl, over your fingers and up your arm. Can you sit still and let them crawl? Sterilized apartments with carpets separate us from the dirt. I’ve lost touch. I become reacquainted every year and at first every year I squirm. Dirty feet and callouses stain my sandals. Dirty fingernails and matted hair, I rinse off in the river, in the lake, in the blue air hot wind blowing as I ride my bike. Fantasies of warmer days carry me away from life on this couch. Transparent nipples feeling weather and sun kissed vagina. But the sun has risen and I watched the light change through the night. Sunday comes and with it work and life as this town wakes up. Good morning.

It’s cold today and I don’t want to go out, I don’t want to play ‘adult’ today. I want to stay in today, dress up today for you. Red contrasts against grey, clouds sleeping low and weeping slowly crying. Spirits flying, spirits dying. Angels flying, presenting as golden orbs, steely silver discs come to spy. 4pm when reality begins. Hold it in till I can cocoon again. Inside, we’re untouched, at home where we’re warm. Let it all go by today. I’ll wait for you today. Don’t make me do it today, only make me do what you want me to today. In red today. In my head today, I’ll be waiting for you.

Half of the time. Mindless running, working, spooning, spinning plates on stilted legs. Balancing spoons on my nose. Breathe hot breath up close to me, up close to my, up in the sky where daydreams go like all the pink smoke and blue water, turquoise, clear down to the bottom. You live down there, if you could and we all would. There is no sound and no clear sight, just wavy mirrors and wavy dreams.
