Has globalization done more harm or good for the promotion of human rights?
There are questions which don’t have a direct answer to, but people can answer it with their own beliefs and evidences. First of all starting with the meaning of globalization. It is the process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. In other words, it is also a worldwide international movement toward development in economy, finance, trade and communications integration. But we are well aware that the promotion of human rights depends on the type of globalization the country or the ‘big hands’ choose. As we all know that everything has a good and a bad side, there is one for this too. If the economy runs bad because of poor management of globalization and fall of power in the bad hands, more people will get poverty which makes them unlikely to enjoy their economic human rights. But if the globalization runs well with the economy, this means people can enjoy their economic rights well. But with globalization comes spread in knowledge and ideas which helps in promotion of human rights. Countries also gain more respect therefore, they strive to protect and promote human rights in order to keep that respect flowing. In generalization as knowledge spreads people would have greater ideas and try to inspire and motivate others, the same step which big countries such as America would imply. The other effect of globalization is also spreading of cultures from all around the world which makes people from different cultures and rites to live in a small place to make others inspire of international co-operation which can be a lot of help to us when coming to the future where we can be in trouble. The spreading of international cultures also bring positive influence towards the rules and the rights of countries such as basic rights of education to poor children in poor countries such as Laos and mostly girls in Southern Asia. Political rights will also be mended because of change in government rules which help us bring peace to the world and end conflicts if they can understand each other. But if you see in a large scale, people are mostly been positively influential with the idea of globalization. Therefore, we can see that globalization has done more good than harm to the society on the promotion of human rights.
