maybe it’s the effect of having no one to look out for her all this time — her parents never give a damn about her, they sent her away to live and study abroad at such a young age and she had to survive on her own, knowing that they were never there for her. she had her hopes until she entered high school though, but they never called to ask how she’s doing, or if school was hard enough. she was so starved of affection that she had to go look for it herself, as pathetic as that may sounds like. but here, it’s easy to find love and companion. at first she believed it was impossible, believed that all this was just temporary, but now sydney knows that she has found home. “i think my heart has just stopped beating,” she says dramatically, placing a hand over her chest. “that’s the sweetest thing i’ve heard today, sabby.” coming up with nicknames for people is already like a habit to the young vampire. “i’m the one who would be lost without you, that makes more sense.” she lets out a giggle. “how does whiskey sounds to you, hm?”
The tease coaxes a soft chuckle from his lips, and Sabre can’t help but roll his eyes while slinging an arm around Sydney’s shoulders and tugging her closer to his side. As their bodies draw flush, he hip checks the woman, trying to make her smile even wider. She offers great companionship, and conversation never runs dry with Sydney, so Sabre often finds himself seeking her out; if only just to get drunk. The pair are good at that. ❝You probably would, to be honest. You seem to need me.❞ Casting a sidelong glance at the other, Sabre smirks, delivering a light squeeze to the woman’s side, before he steps away and up to the drinks cabinet. It doesn’t take him long to find the eighteen-year-old single malt, he’d concealed behind cheap bottles of vodka a few weeks ago. If he doesn’t hide things, the youngsters have a habit of helping themselves, and while he doesn’t usually mind, this one is Scottish and deserves to savoured. ❝This one do, Syd?❞

→ sabre’s response only upped jack’s confidence. when dark eyes caught, jack twisted his torso to peek at sabre from over his shoulder and, with his usual, mischievous smirk, jack wiggled his eyebrows comically. in fashion that could only hold true to the vampire himself, jack completed his little show with a short runway walk, long legs taking him across the room before settling himself as gracefully as he could at the edge of sabre’s bed. hip checked and legs crossed at the ankle, he was all the air of primp and proper, like he wasn’t about to act a saloon girl the second he left their room.
“you should come with me. when was the last time you went out and had a crazy night? i want to bring some humans home and play around a little bit. it’s not as fun when i’m alone and the only thing better than one hot person is two. we’d make good bait.”
It was nigh on impossible not to smile with Jack’s antics as the man strode across the room with all the finesse of a finely tuned model, strutting along a runway. Only Sabre’s roommate could muster such a persona—and so expertly too—within a matter of seconds. He even had the resting bitch face down to a fine art. Chuckling airily, Sabre sank back against the closed closet door, dark gaze following Jack’s every move until his pert derrière rested primly on the corner of his bed.
‘Ever the chameleon,’ thought Sabre; Jackson would fit in anywhere, at any time. ❝And what the hell would I wear when your outfit is enough to draw the eye of every person in a room?❞ he teased, lips glancing off the rim of his glass before he took a hearty swallow of whiskey.

elliot’s mood was instantly lifted when he realized what the lack of finesse in the older vampire’s movements meant. even if he hadn’t noticed sabre’s tipsiness, the bottle and glasses in his grip would have given it away, as well as his obvious initial struggle with the door — and that was exactly what elliot needed on a day as dull and languid as that one; some entertainment to make the hours seem less sedate. “what do you mean ‘get drunk with me’, i’ll be the only one getting drunk,” he quipped, lips still curved in distinct amusement. “i can’t believe you got this trashed without me. is that wine? you’re so old, hyung. gimme.”
His shoulders shook with mirth-filled laughter, the youngers words utterly tickling him because they weren’t exactly far off the mark. Sabre had been officially drunk for the better part of two hours, just stumbling around the corridors of the manor in search of some companionship. And then he’d found Elliot, looking uncorrupted and innocent as ever; Sabre had to remedy that. ❝I get this trashed all the fucking time, stop acting so surprised,❞ he articulated, despite his words presenting as little more than one long run-on sentence. ❝Did you just call me old for drinking wine… and then ask for some of my wine?❞ Sabre gasped, perplexed.
elliot lifted his eyes at the sound of the door being pushed open, propping up his feet on the arm of the couch and grabbing a random book that was sitting nearby. “did someone send you to babysit?” he began, lips curving into that boyish smirk he usually wore as he pretended to flip through the pages. “as you can see i’m at my best behavior… looking pretty, reading a book, boring myself to my second death. i’ve actually been doing nothing for the past two hours so please tell me you’re here to take me somewhere.”
Sabre’s staggered trajectory into the room, was momentarily interrupted by the door, as it swung back toward him, and rattled against his chest. The impact almost sent him sprawling, along with the two wine glasses clutched in hand and bottle of fine wine he’d discovered in the pantry. Cabernet Sauvignon stains could be a real pain the ass to remove, so he was glad his forward pitch had been thwarted by a couple of reflexive back steps into the hallway. The brunet burst out laughing, far too inebriated to be consuming more alcohol, but he was immortal—drinking himself to death wasn’t an option at this point. ❝Oops!❞ he exclaimed, still grinning widely as he stumbled into the room and all but threw himself onto the couch next to Elliot. ❝Get drunk with me. Let’s live… or death, it up!❞

hansol: mmm you're smart not to trust me
hansol: but i promise and when i make a promise, i stick to it!
hansol: yejun and jaejoon? i look forward to meeting them face to face kekeke
hansol: never fallen for a vampire?
sabre: I know. I'm not 822 years old for nothing, ya know~
sabre: I'll trust you, just this once!
sabre: They'll love you! Especially Yejun =P
sabre: uh...
sabre: next!

dropping his expression and the mood he had carried from the manor to the basement, hansol stops in his venture and stares into the darkness with ears pricked in curiosity. due to his young age, nothing strikes him as odd as they stand still. hansol hears not a stir, nor does he see any shift in the distance, and the smell of rot and blood and dampness obscures the better of his senses. “last i checked, she wasn’t breathing.” he hesitated with his response, guilt befalling him at the thought of a woman stumbling through the dark secrets of the coven as she trails blood from one hall to the other. “she’s dead— and if she’s not, she will be.”
Quick to follow suit, Sabre halts in his steps as well, turning to face his companion and straining to listen in the darkness. He can’t hear any movement, just the same pitter patter that always meets his ears each time he enters the basement. It’s usually one of two things; water, or blood. Generally the latter. His teeth pinch the plush flesh of his lower lip, and Sabre flicks his gaze to the other vampires, searching Hansol’s face as he waits for him to speak. The reassurance, when it comes, doesn’t exactly sound much like one, but it will do. ❝If she’s not dead, you’re dealing with that shit,❞ he mutters gruffly, tugging at the other's sleeve to get them both moving again.
songxjaeyong:
“i hate the people in this manor…” it was said so seriously there was no possibility for it to have ever been a joke. and with very few exceptions, it was a statement of fact for the vampire. even as he turned back around and continued his journey. now, not only was in going to have to cook something to eat, he would have to dig around for the cleaning supplies first, because he wasn’t trying to have a bare assed on granite sex sandwich for his midday snack. “for the record, i ever see you screwing another vampire on the island and i’m cutting it off,” his tone was annoyed with a dash of exasperation. “just a fair warning.”
Sabre bit back a smile, relishing needling the other vampire a little. Jaeyong got wound up so easily, and his reactions to the tidbits of information on the actions of their fellow coven members served as entertainment for the brunet. ❝Sometimes, I don’t blame you one little bit,❞ he responded on a chuckle, shoulders shaking with the mirth-filled sound. There were clashes going on inside the manor, on the regular, because everyone had such a large personality, it was bound to cause friction. Sabre would never admit it aloud, but sometimes, he lived for the discord. ❝Cutting off the island, or my dick?❞ he asked casually, sauntering along behind the other vampire and ghosting his fingertips over the walls at either side.

it’s hard to believe how life has turned out for sydney now. well, she certainly has no ambition or dream growing up — what’s the purpose of having those when she already got everything? she doesn’t know what to do, nor she has any idea what she wants to be. apparently being a vampire is something she never expects to happen, but here she is nonetheless. you need to be more careful. she’s heard that phrase a lot back then, hates it even, because as much as she knows she’s troublesome, she doesn’t need the same kind of reminder every single time. maybe it’s time she keeps that in mind, given that sabre probably wouldn’t be there for her all the time. “god, you literally sound like my dad right now.” she scrunches her nose playfully at him. “but you’re nicer, of course. are you sure you’re not gonna regret this? you might get tired from kicking too many asses.” sydney teases the older vampire, putting on a childish grin. “i mean if you can handle that much, sure, why not? be my personal bodyguard then.” after all she loves the idea of someone willing to protect her like this, despite how much of a mess she would get into. “i’d fancy a drink or two for making it out alive so yes, please. that’d be nice.”
The insult—because that sure as shit is no compliment—draws a low growl from his throat. Sans any sign of real threat, but audible all the same. It’s not a first for Sabre, being compared to a coven members father, but it just never sits well with him. Probably because it serves as a constant reminder that it was something he’d never be, and maybe he doesn’t entirely loathe the idea of having a little mini Sabre around. Shaking his head, and ridding his mind of such thoughts, the brunet reaches to curl his fingers loosely around the woman’s wrist, tugging lightly to get her moving and strolling along at his back on their way to his favourite den. Choosing to ignore the father remark, Sabre relaxes his hold before eventually letting go, dark obsidian eyes flicking to meet with Sydney’s as a smirk graces his lips, revealing the barest hint of fangs. ❝I have many regrets in this life, my friend, but looking after you won’t be one of them. Letting you perish at the hands of another, however, would be. I don’t think I’d live with myself. I’d drive a stake through my heart to escape my misery.❞ A breathy, dramatic sigh leaves his lips, and Sabre clutches at his chest, right over his cold, dead heart as he utters, ❝I’d be lost without you!❞ Grinning suddenly, an airy chuckle rents the air and Sabre bumps his shoulder into the others. ❝You worry too much. You’ll be fine. I’ll look after you, and I don’t mind doing it. Now, what’s your poison, little one?❞
he’s out to get me 🔥
sydkngz:
for someone who’s not afraid of anything, sydney might have to rethink her life decisions from now on. this deadly encounter has made her realize that she couldn’t just mess with anyone these days, especially if they are vampires too — but then sydney is not one to avoid trouble, because even if she does, trouble would still find her eventually. she’s somehow glad sabre is not mad at her for being that stupid, so she looks at him and smiles. “i think i just kinda forget that a vampire could be that dangerous,” she admits. of course she would. it hasn’t been long since she turned into one, and trying to adjust to this new life isn’t easy, but thankfully she has some friends she could depend on. “but what if i never learn cues and keep on getting people want to strangle me? would you still want to kick their asses for me even if it takes forever?”
It’s nigh on impossible for Sabre not to roll his eyes at the naivety of the younger vampire. They were sharing accommodation with highly skilled killers, and yet still, Sydney somehow forgot just how dangerous her housemates were. Sabre has a feeling it’s a job for life, looking out for the woman, but one he’s more than willing to undertake. ❝Syd, you need to be more careful, some of these people are incredibly dangerous, even to you. They won’t hesitate to attack if you annoy them enough. Trust me on that. But I’ve got your back. Even if I’m defending you on the daily. I’m like your very own personal bodyguard.❞ A smile lifts his lips, and Sabre pats the other's arm consolingly. ❝Now, how about something to drink?❞
szihao:
“i’ll remember that.” he nodded, watching with a curiosity as the elder vampire disposed of his cigar, his honey gaze following the trail of light it had temporarily drawn on it’s way from the roof to the ground floor where neither zihao nor sabre would be able to see it anymore. had he not been so content on his side, zihao might have snapped up and complained about how wasteful that was, but why ruin a good moment just to pick a fight? some of the other tenants were short-fused enough as it was, adding sabre to the list was never something zihao thought necessary. “i think you would be surprised by how good i am at making people feel safe around me.” he laughed, his comment no news to anybody that knew him well enough — zihao was popular with the mortals and the members of the coven. “but if that’s the case, befriending them would be so much easier for us.”
A groan built in his chest, spilling from his lips seconds later, accompanied by a slow shake of his head, and Sabre fought the tremulous smile threatening at the edges of his lips. There were absolutely no innocent souls left in the world, he was utterly convinced. Zihao looked like the sweetest kid one could ever hope to meet, but Sabre knew better. When one became the undead, they were left with little opportunity but to feed on mortals—which could lead to some problems. It appeared the baby-faced member of their coven, lured people in with a false sense of security. Sabre remembered a time when he too, earned himself a nightly meal with laughter and much flattery. Now, his victims were lucky to even see him coming. ❝You’re not wrong there. What if their blood is like, green though, or something?❞
songxjaeyong:
his steps faltered, unable to keep himself from turning to grant the male a raised brow. really the answer should have been obvious, there were after all a very limited set of things one could do in a kitchen. not all of his kind opted to consume human food, it was unnecessary, but it hardly kept him from indulging in place of other things. “we’re going to pretend you are too smart to ask such a lacking question,” he sighed, continuing his journey. “i am sure you still have a brain, using it once in a while is good for you.”
Quirking a brow and mirroring the expression on Jae’s face, Sabre paused on the spot, meeting his companions' eyes. The disparaging remarks left Sabre unperturbed—he’d grown rather used to the others acid tongue over the years, after all. Perhaps even a little fond of the quips. He wasn’t sure, but there was a good chance he’d miss them if they were gone. And Jae, the vampire offered a bluntness unlike any other. It was entertaining, at least to Sabre. ❝Not everyone goes to the kitchen to eat, you know. Some go there to grab some wine, others to bake a cake… some to screw another vampire on the island. I’ve seen that shit with my own two eyes. It’s like they forget they’re sharing a home with others.❞
bvkho:
“𝕴 can neither confirm or deny.” Teasing with his own playful smirk, Baekho stretched his arms behind his shoulders, forwards, to the side, so on and so on. Friendly competition never hurt anybody, not unless you let it hurt you back. “Do you think you’d be able to catch up? Pick a spot, lets see how well you can do old-timer.”
Snickering, Sabre gave a slow, languorous nod as he raised a hand and flicked at Baekho’s cheek with his index finger. The younger vampires were forever teasing him about his age, but Sabre took it all in stride. After all, with age, came wisdom, and he certainly knew a thing or two about hunting. ❝Mhm. Catch up? I think I’m about to teach you some valuable life lessons, Baekho~❞
