Orphan Black: Echoes (S01E01)
watching orpha.n bl.ack ech.oes and the way i am holding back adding kira and/or delphine....guys the brain rot has never settled and i fear it never will.
greta needed to mentally remind herself of the good that was inside of carson. they weren't the same. carson was warmed like a cup of comforting coffee, and had the enthusiasm of one in low times. greta sunk at times. her highs touched the sky, and her lows broke through the ground. there was a mistrust with being vulnerable. it was much easier to have a loud, resilient personality. no one could hurt you there. the shorter woman's intentions were pure, not there to poke any bear. carson genuinely cared, and greta sometimes didn't know what to do with that.
" honestly ? " what more could carson ever want from her ? pulling her hand back into her lap, greta fumbled with her fingers. " i was just thinking about how this will all be over soon. " it wasn't the brightest of thoughts when the rest of the team was spilling laughter and beer in the other room. the sound of it was 'missed fun,' as carson stated. " i guess i'm just going to miss -" lungs inhaled, her chin turned towards carson. " this. "
carson tries not to think about it. the fact that this will all be over when the season ends. then she'll go back to what? as much as she wants to, she knows that she isn't brave enough to leave with greta. no, she'll go back to her unfulfilling marriage, the whole time wondering if the other woman misses her as much as she does. things would go back to normal - and wasn't that the most disappointing thing? pretending like this was a fluke. a phase. but she knows it isn't. this is what she wants.
she nods, the happy smile that carson often sported quickly dropping. "it doesn't have to be the end, you know." it's said quietly, in a whisper. she knows that it could very well be the end, but if she could just say those words out loud - maybe she could convince herself that being in this moment with her was going to be forever. "we can ... keep in touch. and i'll visit. then next thing we know it will be time to do it all over again."

hey, wait a minute! what about this house?
you know nobody ever comes here on halloween.
it's just a costume party.
there's nothing special about me.
being normal is vastly overrated.
you've gotta let me go! the whole world is going!
i'm certainly old enough to make my own choices.
[name], i'm sorry, but you are not going out on halloween.
you have been saying that for my whole life.
i gotta keep an eye on you.
why are you such a downer?
you can celebrate later.
when it's dark on halloween, where do you put the candle?
i wasn't even under a spell or anything.
i never could have done it without you.
it's just one night. what's the big deal?
you've been a lovely audience but the show is over.
we'll bring you some candy!
it's not polite to stare.
you can't tell what's in a monster's heart just by looking at them.
i'm so sick of this!
i think it's obvious why halloween is bad.
that whole razor blade in the apple thing was an urban myth.
there are just some things about halloween that you don't understand.
magic is really very simple. all you've got to do is want something and then let yourself have it.
how are we supposed to grow up if we can't explore the world, try new stuff, and take some risks?
[name], i am just trying to protect you.
why are you so obsessed with halloween?
personally, give me a good nature documentary any day.
you never let us do anything fun.
i'm something of a big cheese around here.
did you bring us presents?
the important thing is that i'm here now, and i'm so glad to see you.
you are not a witch.
i want you to go hang this on the door. it annoys the vampires.
how does all this stuff fit in here?
i've always said the movies can teach us about life.
why don't you put out the pumpkins? see, they have such cute little faces. just like yours.
i wanna help you fight the bad thing.
nobody around here really appreciates my taste in weird stuff.
i have deja vu a lot. i mean like, all the time.
could i talk to you in the kitchen for just one minute?
now it's time for dinner.
i like being here. i can have a normal life here.
i like being normal.
i'm getting that deja vu feeling again.
get that thing out of here right now!
i know that's why you came here tonight.
my neighbors disappear sometimes too. it's called moving.
every time you come into the house, it's chaos.
let's not fight again.
why don't you recruit one of them?
enjoy your leftovers, dear.
he's probably animatronic. disneyland's full of stuff like that.
see, you're a bad influence.
will you be quiet?
look, i'm trying to concentrate here.
what can we do to stop it?
that's very sweet of you.
what are you so happy about?
this is what i've been telling you about.
i have to apologize to you, [name].
The scene where the deal was made changed my perspective on both Roderick and Madeline. We see the entire show that Madeline is the harder, colder and more ambitious of the two, but Roderick hardly even hesitating with making the deal to sell his children’s lives. Madeline hesitated greatly, and based off her body language in that scene, if Roderick had turned down the deal she would have as well.
On top of that, Madeline says she did not have any children her entire life because of the deal, Madeline puts security guards on all the remaining Usher children, and Madeline tries to preserve Lenore as an AI. Roderick seemed completely resigned to his families fate the entire show.
Also seeing that it was Madeline who had the plan for to make Roderick the head of Fortunato, lure Grus to the basement, and planned their alibi for the murder it’s ironic that all she wanted was to not be chained to some man, who dictats her life and ended up being chained to her brother and constantly having to work for his successes
@olympusrising - ares + gabrielle ( starter call! )
it was getting harder and harder to fix up the farm with everything disappearing. it wasn't like ares actually wanted to help anyways, but it wasn't helping gabrielle's case that everytime she asked him to do something - an item was missing out of thin air. it was a great excuse, she knows that much. she knows they weren't going to stick around much once he was settled, but how could he even get settled if he wasn't willing to put in the work? there's a part of her that found his struggle hilarious, though. seeing the god of war knocked down a peg was a dream. she just wouldn't say that out loud.
"i'm telling you - life on a farm is so much better when we can ... you know .. make it look better. but it's still pretty great, right?" a smile is flashed, leaning casually against the wall ( ignoring the fact that she heard something break again in the other room .. ) but she continues, flinching slightly as the noise from whatever broke subsides. that was a later issue. "being mortal has it's perks! i mean, i've only experienced that my whole life. i'm the perfect example of normalcy, so you'll be fine. don't look so doom and gloom, ares. this is the start of your new life."

there is something wonderful stirring in the depths of your being. something within you– something latent– is sleeping there, in the cradle of your mind. creativity comes naturally to you, just as breathing or blinking. you have the capability to extend yourself through art. but are you afraid of it? creating something– terribly afraid that it will never be as good as you hope? it will never be made unless you use your own hands. / NUMBER: 17 / UPRIGHT: hope, faith, purpose, renewal, spirituality / REVERSED: lack of faith, despair, self-trust, disconnection

@sadauroras (gabrielle) asked: ❝ the intimidating man stare does nothing for me, pal. ❞
The intimidating man stare continues, eyes scrunching up just a touch more. However, features relaxed after a moment and a slight roll of his eyes is given. He had always known that this one would be nothing but a thorn in his side and that's something she continues to prove right. Time and time again, there she is, trailing behind Xena, holding her back and it's quite annoying. Especially given his many plans that the annoying little blonde was keeping halted.
"Can't blame a man for trying," he mused with a small shrug, eyes wandering and looking elsewhere. They soon returned to Gabrielle, head canting to the side while tongue pressed against the side of cheek in thought. He could easily kill her and make it look like an accident, but Xena...Xena would know it was him. She already had enough to hate him for, he didn't need to add to it. Lips purse and pout before he begins to speak again, "I'm surprised to see you walking alone. Normally you're firmly locked in place at a certain warriors hip...she finally drop you?"
there's no doubt that she's trying to stand her ground and look taller than she is. there's a part of her that wanted to be intimidating. or at least a little bit more like xena was ( sometimes she'd study interactions between her friend and the people they'd interact with .. a plan to write down anything she could that would make herself more like her ) if she's being honest, the blonde never got the appeal of ares - if anything he was a thorn in her side. she'd never claim to understand why he was allowed to still be around - but gabrielle trusted xena and her opinions so she wasn't going to create that much of a fuss.
but even still, she scoffs. "drop me? no ... she's .." truthfully, she didn't actually know where the other woman wandered off to. she just knew that they'd always somehow find each other again. but she wasn't going to admit that. she wasn't stupid - she was aware that the man in front of her would kill her if he got the chance. gabrielle keeps her distance, trying to keep any and all nerves at bay that could possibly show that she was lying. "she's gathering things for dinner, so you better watch out .. she could be here any moment. i don't think she'd be happy to hear that you've been harassing me. quite the opposite, in fact." she's clearly trying her hardest to sound menacing.
She hates men this much and you want me to not stan??? Absolutely not, I’d die for her

" mhm. sure. " hummed at her lips. greta enjoyed toying with carson. it was far too easy at times. the rise came from the way the other woman glistened around her. " yeah, - why not ? " a shrug of her shoulders. greta didn't fall to anyone's knees, but she did feel the pull. to fall for carson, it would be a long fall considering their height difference. " that's cute, that you think you'll embarrass me." she couldn't give the woman any satisfaction. " tell me, shaw, " greta slid a hand off of her lap. nonchalantly, her pinky grazed against carson's leg. " are you keeping tabs on me ? knowing when i sneak off ? " a lifted a brow, and greta cracked a small smile. " stalker alert. " her form of being flirtacious - making carson uncomfortable. being missed was a good feeling. the red head felt the warmth from the sentiment. " hows it going in there ? " curls brushed back as she nodded her head towards the living room area. from the sounds, greta could tell a few beers had been involved. the laughter was nice to hear.
a nervous giggle passes her lips, knowing that this was all on purpose. greta liked toying with her and it would be a lie to say that carson didn't enjoy it too. to be wanted. loved, even. this was so much different than it ever was with charlie. it was exciting, it made her feel alive. "uh, no. you don't believe in me?" there was no way to embarrass the other woman, she knew that. but she does feel her cheeks warm as she feels her pinky graze against her leg, wanting nothing more than to just savor the moment in her mind. "not keeping tabs .." she trails off, catching herself watching greta's movements closely, trying to be ahead of everything she was doing so she wouldn't be too surprised or taken aback.
"i just wondered where you went, that's all. the others were getting worried, you know how they can be." as if carson wasn't the first one to bring up that she was missing. it wasn't often that they were alone together - she'd take any moment she could get. "well, you're missing all the fun." she half jokes, her eyes set on the other woman. it was fun out there, but she honestly preferred being out here. "why'd you sneak off? if you don't mind me asking."
the past few weeks have been... a lot for her. though she was popular, stella has never really felt like the people around her wanted to be her friend because they liked her or thought she was interesting. she knew for a fact that some of her friends thought she was a ditz ( and well, fine, she isn't particularly intelligent anyway ). but the girls in the fight club were different; some of the other popular kids and self-proclaimed 'cool girls' scrunched their face up when they found out about her new friends, and stella thought she'd lose some of the fight club girls too after the what happened at the pep rally.
but here they were, still hanging out even without the club keeping them together. it was nice. really nice. "quit it," she scolds, even with a fond look on her face as she places the betadine on the cuts by the top of her eyebrow. "i think you could have! you totally had him for like, seventy percent of the fight. he just got a really good swing at the end." stella pauses, frowning. "does it still hurt real bad?"
she never was close with many people. they came and went, mostly. hazel tended to fade into the background. she talked too much, asked questions that were obvious, missed the jokes ... people didn't like that. to have something like the club, she couldn't be more grateful. she didn't even care that this wasn't actually what the club was for ... hazel unironically loved the idea of female solidarity.
watching as stella places the bedadine on her, she closes her eyes with a small nod. maybe she was more concerned about the fact that there was a chance that they couldn't beat huntington now that everyone knew they were frauds. stella was right, she could have beaten him, but it wasn't like it was a fair fight. "seventy percent is not a hundred." she says simply, finally opening her eyes. "it stings. i really hit that ground hard, huh? it was a total blur as soon as i started bleeding."
