one time, i came upon a post about "Monsters of Mental Illness" and it represented illnesses like, depression, anxiety and schizophrenia and some other things. I showed it to my sister, who studies psychology, and pointed at monsters who represented anxiety, schizophrenia and such. (I do have anxiety and depression and I hope my sister will understand me) and asked her if I had that, which her response was, "No, you don't have those. Why would you show me these? It's not like you have one,â In my mind, I was telling her mentally, "Oh you just don't know, you don't care about me." she continued, "âand even if you do have one of those, it's not something to be proud of, it supposed to make you feel edgy and it should be hidden from any body else but you." I was literally crying in the inside. I didn't expect her response to be like that way. I thought she would undestand. I smiled sadly and fakely at her and said, "Yeah, and sis, I don't." That was a lie. Out of all people, it had to be her, my sister. Sometimes, my best friends would ask me, "Hey, you okay?" I would respond with an honest reply, "No. No, I'm not." "You want to talk about it?" "Maybe, not now. Maybe later." And I would smile at her. Honest smile. I would always tell her, my bestfriend, what was going on with my life. Of course I trusted her to tell her. Sometimes, my other friends would come and sig by my side at school and ask me questions. "What does mental illness feel like?" and "Why do you hide so much?" or "Do you have a mental illness?" I would nod shyly, I would tell them two sentences about it and that's for all. I already told one person, it was enough. What makes them happy to be with is because they are very cautious and they are people who understand you. That's why they are my friends. I think even my dad and mom sees it. Why not my sister, a Psychology student, sees it? To this day, I don't even want to speak mental illnesses about her. Ever. I'm just saying, (wrong or not, please don't judge.) that, if you have a mental illness, don't be afraid to let it out to someone or just maybe that one person to be able to understand what you are going through. Family or friends, it doesn't matter. Open up, let it out, it's going to be okay. Please don't be like me, don't lie to people who ask you things about you mental illness. Well, if you don't trust them, you can easily say, "I don't feel like talking about it to you." Be honest. Find that person/s and open up to them. Find people who care. If it's not the time, you can always try another time. And if they understand you, you should understand them too. I'm not bragging about me having a mental illness, and this is the reason why I'm still anonymous, so I'd like to just tell about my experience and give some suggestions and advices.
