your first impression of your father is watching him slaughter dozens of men in cold blood, while screaming at them in a rage. while you had struggled to even kill one, you watch as the man said to be your father strikes them down one by one as the screams echo through the palace. and then he turns to you. and for a split second, you catch a glimpse of the venom in his eyes. of what the suitors must've seen, the monster that painted these halls with buckets of blood. and in that split second, you wonder for a moment if he'll turn on you too. so you ask, "father?" bc is this truly the same man your mother waited so many years for? the same man that you've been reminded of, that you've been compared to, your whole life?

is this man really your father?

I want to point out how the final fight in Epic is not in song 38 but song 40.

How after Odysseus became "the monster" he then, was the last boss to fight

And Penelope fights him.

Because she fights for her husband, for the man beyond the trauma, for the man WITH the trauma, for the man she will always love and will wait forever if necessary.

She makes him angry, he gets furious and Penelope is the only character so far who matches that fury and tames it.

And Penelope wins.

She defeats the "monster".

And all it's left... it's just a man. Her man.
