@sadlyshy
this was a great read. âLaziness Does Not Existâ by Devon Price
if someone commented "mommy? sorry" on a picture or video of me i'd be like oh yeah you're about to be
like idk i don't think i'm just being a killjoy about this one. commenting shit like that on random strangers' selfies or tiktoks or whatever doesn't feel like a compliment it's just uncomfortable to see and honestly comes across as really fetishizing. like 'mommy' IS a kink thing it's not something you can just call random people on the internet without their consent, it's the kind of thing that honestly could get you done for sexual harassment irl, and if that makes me a prude then shave my head and call me Brother James i guess.
This is my summary of Midnight Mass
Princess Peach was really just like âmy castle is gonna be a weird museum with maybe some living quarters tucked away somewhere but mostly just magic portals to battlefields and slidesâ and everybody was like yeah you beautiful binch go ahead
Thereâs a whole fucking room in the castle thatâs just a long corridor with a portrait of bowser at the end. Thereâs another specifically designed to be a trick of perspective so you run towards a portrait of a goomba that looks like itâs right in front of you but itâs actually far away and huge. Thereâs a room filled with paintings and then a mirror wall so you can like, see the paintings reflected, I guess?
Princess Peach just has a bizarre series of magical art installations and thatâs her house
Like she LIVES there. Thatâs her HOUSE. She was like âhey toadsworth can we have a giant grandfather clock that if you jump at it it takes you to a magical world inside the clock but depending on what time you jump in the moving parts of the magic clock world will be faster or slowerâ and toadsworth was like âk lolâ in her HOUSE
What Iâm saying is Princess Peach is a fucking legend
Years ago, my husband sent an email to Nintendo asking them a bunch of questions about Mario 64; stuff like âHow do Bobombs reproduce?â and âWho does the second baby penguin belong to?â and that. I bring it up because one of the fifty-odd questions asked was âWhy is there no furniture in Princess Peachâs castle?â
Nintendo of Europe answered every question, so I can canonically tell you that Princess Peach is so rich that she owns two castles, one for furniture and one for all her artwork.
(In case youâre wondering, the answers to the other two are âThrough a mixture of gunpowder and loveâ and âNo one. It is its own penguin.â)
Thereâs extra, and then theres Princess Peach
the people running the crayola twitter
Remember when Stephen Hawking was more worried about inequality under capitalism than artificial intelligence in a Reddit AMA and people started telling him to read an economics 101 book? Wild. Anyways rip Steve
âIf machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed. Everyone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution. So far, the trend seems to be toward the second option, with technology driving ever-increasing inequality. â Â
being a girl and hitting puberty is so traumatic. you go from being a genderless little free thing to being hit with shaving and makeup and growing breasts and skincare and menstruation and suddenly being sexualised when like a few years ago you could take your shirt off to play in the stream and trade yugioh cards with the boys and come home covered in mud and not even think about it. and then you spend years hating being a girl and hating everything puberty did to you and wishing you could be a boy or be completely genderless again and it takes you Many years to come to terms with yourself Or you simply try to Lean In to everything and do makeup tutorials on YouTube and claim itâs for fun. like how can this be treated as normal
trans people AND cis women đ€ struggling to exist in a marked body which the world wants to shape, control and project meaning on to against your will
omg thatâs not even all of it
So on my posts about racism or transmisogyny, I often see tags that basically say âI donât understand this but Iâm going to reblog it anyway.â If you see a âsocial justiceâ type post that you want to reblog but donât understand?
Donât.
I know this goes against everything youâre used to hearing on this website, but listen. Reblogging posts you donât understand is basically the equivalent of blindly repeating whatever youâre told. Even if youâre right, if you donât understand why youâre right, you could be spouting utter bullshit and you wouldnât even know it.
When I see âI donât know what this means but Iâm gonna reblog it anywayâ it sends a lot of messages. It says that you care more about seeming right than being right. It says that you want good ally credit without any of the work of being a good ally. It says youâre on my side because I can make a post sound good, not because you actually agree with me on anything beyond the surface level.
So instead of just reblogging that post, save it for later. Like it, draft it, bookmark it, whatever. Go to the opâs blog and skim through a couple of pages, see if you can find some context. If the post is old, you could try asking for context in a non-condescending way. âIs this post referring to something specific?â is a lot better than, say, âDoes this even happen? Iâve never heard of this.â
If that doesnât help, do some more research. Google, search tumblr tags for recent posts on a subject, ask people who have EXPLICITLY stated they are willing to educate. Maybe in the process youâll find more posts with a similar message to the original, but in easier to understand language. Maybe someone else already added a reply that adds useful information onto the op.
And maybe all of that takes a long time. Maybe, by the time you finally understand what the post was talking about, itâs months old and no longer relevant. Maybe you donât even want to reblog it anymore. Who cares, fuck that post. You learned and grew as a person. Thatâs more important than looking good on a blog.
still astounded by this literal weaponization of feminism against the working class. thanks for that liberal queens, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas
"Sounds like your boyfriend is exhibiting some real *manager flipping through flash cards* toxic masculinity. You're being uh... *looks to other manager who's mouthing words silently* you're being gaslit, sis. Do some self care and come into work okay?"
This blog is seriously gonna end me Catholics are so fucking funny
why are we reblogging this op (the catholic blog) has literally stated they support fascism
It's because we are laughing at him because he sucks
iâd like to make it clear that being well-read and having dumb bitch energy arenât mutually exclusive. can i give you an in-depth analysis of an academic article? yeah. am i still a dumb bitch? yeah and proud
Old movies that suck and are awful are great, but new movies that suck and are awful are stupid. Hope this helps
