michael afton ISNT evil in the movie.

his scene with the ghost crew is so good because you can see on his face exactly how unsure and scared he is. he’s smiley outside the pizzeria, he’s smiley even when he hears the sounds of Lisa being killed he smiles, because a small part of him still feels what he felt when he was concocting his plan, the thought of following in his fathers footsteps. but as soon as he actually SEES one of them die, he’s horrified, and starts to feel the impact of what the animatronics could actually do, realizing he’s in way over his head.

even when he investigates the puppets box downstairs, he’s nervous, and as soon as he’s chased by charlotte, he runs out of the restaurant terrified.

that’s EXACTLY what seperates Michael from William. Michael isn’t evil, he’s trying with all of what’s in him to be like William, to be confident and unshaken, but he can’t. as soon as Michael is faced with actual consequences and the realization of what the animatronics truly are, he becomes terrified. however when William was faced with the animatronics, he wasn’t scared, even in his last moments he remained calm and vindictive. Michael still has emotions, he’s not a psychopath, and he’s not truly evil, as much as he wants to be.

“That’ll be easy to remember..” Michael flashed his tight lipped smile again, creases forming around his lips creeping up to his nose. The uneasy feeling set into Schmidt once more.

“My name is Michael. Michael Afton.”

He held his hand out, waiting for a handshake. Schmidt reluctantly followed.

Just thinking about how much better the fnaf movies could’ve been if vanessa was replaced by freddy carter’s michael afton in the first film..

i still to this day don’t know why they added a completely new and pointless character to the movies to serve exactly what michael should’ve served to the story.. only to add michael himself in the second film 💔💔 they’re backtracking so much to try to fit more lore in and it’s NOT working

definitely gonna write a fic of a rewritten fnaf 1 with michael replacing vanessa.. soon..

I truthfully believe this version of Michael Afton is incredibly true to the games.

I think the theories about him are a little annoying, and a reminder of how confused the majority of fnaf fans are. I think we all need to be reminded of two things:

1. just how little we actually know about michael in the games

2. what we learn about him from the small bits we get.

the first ever actual appearance of Michael is in fnaf 4, the game where, might I remind everyone, he is a bully and (accidentally) kills his own brother. in no way does that cement him as pure evil, but it definitely doesn’t help the little angel narrative people seem to have of game Michael.

his next canon appearance is in Sister Location. What exactly does he say?

“I did it. I found it. It was right where you said it would be.”

“I put her back together, just like you asked me to.”

everyone seems to think that Michael has been working against his father since the beginning. THIS IS UNTRUE! all i hear people say abt movie michael is “oh why would michael who hates his father be acting like this, this is nothing like game michael.” however, this is a PERFECT adaption of the beginning of Michael’s story. serving his father, doing exactly what he says, dealing with things his father can’t (as most think william is dead by the time of SL). it isn’t until Michael literally dies and comes back to life that he starts to realize and turns against william (“Im going to come find you”)

this movie was clearly setting up a redemption arc for Michael. this is exactly how his story should start, him serving his father. but i can only imagine at some point during the events of fnaf 3, he’ll come to his senses and work with Henry against william (now springtrap)
