This is a repost from my Facebook, still important*
Hey everyone. This is a long one so buckle up.
So yall know this isn't really like me to air my shit out to yall in any fashion other than quality memes and sarcasm, but I have been going through some stuff lately.
I posted a few months ago about my thyroid disorder and my deformed airways. I recently had a thyroid ultrasound done, and they found several small (1cm) cysts on my thyroid. Nothing to call the funeral home about, but still, wow. My doctor and I believe that this damage to my thyroid has been caused by a high fat diet (albeit a vegan diet) and my deformed airways making it difficult to breathe, making me tired to the point of putting unnecessary stress on my thyroid. I also took an at-home sleep apnea test. I found that I stop breathing several times throughout the night.
My ENT suggested FESS (functional endoscopic sinus surgery) to fix my deformed airways, allowing me to breathe properly at night and during the day, which could give me more energy and help my thyroid function. Sounds like a done deal, right? However, my insurance does not cover this surgery. It is a $9,400 surgery, and my insurance covers maybe $4,000. Ouch.
Without this surgery, I will continue to suffer from extreme fatigue, miss work, and lose money (eventually maybe my job). I am not a rich person (not even in spirit lol). I am not an optimistic person. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and being broke and in debt does not help.
Now, the kicker:
If anyone can donate to my CashApp ($slowmoelynn) you would be doing me the biggest solid. Idgaf if it's $1. You'll be blessing me. I have nothing to offer except some shitty amateur tarot readings and maybe a stick figure drawing of your favorite celebrity? Maybe I'll send you 1 (one) nude. Idk. Anything that can help me would be cool. If you can't, share my post and spread the word. ā
š¤”šā¤šš»š
I recently had to have a thyroid ultrasound, due to my TSH levels fluctuating on the extreme ends of the spectrum. They found 10 small cystic, but not cancerous, nodules peppering my thyroid.
So the course of action right now is major diet change. But honestly I'm so depressed and tired all the time, it's been so hard to eat healthy. My doctor wants me to cut fat, soy, and gluten completely. Then she wants me to eat my first meal before 9am and my last meal before 7pm. No snacks between meals. Sounds easy, but it's been so difficult.
All I want to do is sleep. And eat. And cry.
Do people realize that you canāt just get rid of the entire animal industry as well as animal agriculture? It is literally impossible to get rid of it
Why is it impossible to abolish? The animal ag industry exists because of consumer demand, get rid of the demand for animal flesh/secretions = the industry cant continue. Like we can already see this happening in the dairy industry (though I agree we have a very long way to go in other animal ag sectors) with experts predicting the demise of the dairy industry within the next decade, though I personally think thatās unfortunately too optimistic a prediction though it would be amazing if it is the case!
People said the exact same thing about literally every industry that has ever been abolished. People argued this about serfdom, about slavery, about child exploitation- that economies were dependent on them and these industries were too big to fail. Industries arenāt part of the fabric of nature, theyāre created by people and can be dismantled by people when they no longer serve our interests. Considering the fact that animal agriculture is destroying our planet, emptying our oceans, clearing our forests and polluting our air and water, Iād argue that animal agriculture no longer serves our long-term interests, and certainly not the interests of the animals we exploit.
Itās not something that disappears overnight, OP, but it has to be done if we want any kind of a positive long-term future on this planet. Hard work is just hard work, not impossible.
Animal agriculture as we know it, industrialized and wide-scale, is incredibly recent in human history. It absolutely can and should be abolished. In fact, thatās exactly what needs to happen if we have a chance of stopping and reversing climate disaster.
Not to mention we canāt feed the worldās population using animal products. Itās logistically impossible. Plant-based foods arenāt only the most ethical choice, itās the only one where we can survive as a species and not cause planetary catastrophe.
Ellie's Best Nut Milk Bag and Superfood powders
Guys, try Ellie's nut milk bags. They are the best šā
What my partner and I eat on a budget of less than $150/month between the 2 of us:
-unsweetened quick oats with fruit
-potatoes with beans
-fruit smoothies
-refried beans on tortillas
-bulk bag cereal (more my partner than me)
-whole wheat pancakes
-lentil soup (my fave recipe rn)
This delicious Mexican lentil soup is vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free! The best healthy veggie soup to warm up with. Ā Packed with protein
-chickpea potato curry with jasmine rice
Here's what you need: vegetable oil, medium yellow onion, garlic, curry powder, paprika, cayenne, cumin powder, allspice, fresh ginger, blac
-chickpea salad sandwhiches
A delicious Chickpea Salad Sandwich loaded with protein, fiber, and also super hearty! No cooking and less than 10-minutes to prepare.
-air fried potato wedges
-peanut butter toast
-mashed potatoes and roasted brussels sprouts
That's pretty much our rotation rn. Plus a couple non-vegan things my partner eats, like cheese on his tacos. I eat mostly lentils and chickpeas cuz they're easier on my stomach, and my partner prefers pinto and black beans. Some days I eat more fruit, some days I eat more potatoes. It all depends on 1) what I'm craving and 2) what's on clearance at the store.
Same shit, Different layout š¤·
Woah, hey! I haven't posted in a while. Here's a grocery list for ya!

1 large red bell pepper - 1.38
1 bunch green onions - 0.50
2 carrots - 0.74
1 bunch celery - 1.38
Total: 46.80
Most of this will last me a month. š The only things I'll need to buy here and there will be fresh produce.
So, what's been going on with me?
Well, in April I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism by a plant based doctor, and we have been trying to adjust my diet to save my thyroid. But, after seeing a plant based ENT for some breathing problems, I have recently been diagnosed with extremely narrow airways and a deformed jaw. Unless it's surgically corrected, my breathing will continue to be shit, which will continue to put stress on my thyroid and make it sick. I cannot afford the necessary surgery, so I am being put on a thyroid medication pending my next blood test results. And possibly being prescribed a number of breathing aids pending my next appointment with my ENT.
Due to the rise in doctor visits, plus commute (plant based docs are hard to come by in San Antonio, so we've been driving to Buda and Round Rock at least once a month since April), and due to my pup needing to have a bad tooth surgically removed, we are in debt up to our eyeballs rn. Our food budget went from being a very comfortable $225/month (this was a recent increase, like within the last 4 months due to a generous raise at work) back down to <$120/month. Not including dog food. I have been eating a lot of lentil soup and chickpea potato curries. Lots of rice, potatoes, discount shelf fruit, store brand food (which we never stopped buying even though we were making more money). Food stamps are out of the question rn as they only look at income vs rent and not income vs rent plus all the other bills I have piling up.
I took out a personal loan at 10.92% APR to pay off my $6000 credit card bill (at 24.99% APR). So here's hoping that provides some relief. Also selling plasma once a month (the saline solution makes me feel weird so I try not to do it so often), and we've been selling shit on LetGo and at HPB.
I'm trying not to stress out so much cuz we're fed, sheltered, and otherwise healthy. My partner and I have to go to the dentist and optometrist soon, which we don't have money for. So it'll probably get pushed back til tax return season.
On a brighter note, I'm going to San Antonio's first annual VegFest this month. I will post pictures!
Thanks for listening.

Potato Reset Day 5
Yesterday I was too nauseous to eat, so I didn't. Today I had chips and coffee for breakfast (whoops). This (above) is my first actual meal today. Mashed potatoes with almond milk, Kitchen Basics Unsalted Veg Broth, a little salt and garlic. Then I made a gravy with broth, mushrooms, oregano, pepper, and some mashed potatoes to thicken it. Delicious. I'm about to have seconds.
budget friendly vegan āgreenā cleaning
so a while ago i made a post about how i found this book about cleaning with almost exclusively with lemon/lime juice, baking soda, white vinegar, and salt. now iām finally making the post about it that i promised!!Ā i have tried almost all of these techniques to clean my home and they work incredibly well, while not using harmful chemicals or at least limiting the use of them and also being easily accessible, and naturally vegan! ill now go into detail on how to use these. the basics so first iāll start off by saying youāll still probably want to have an all purpose cleaner (like seventh generation or method) as a backup, however these 4 basic ingredients will usually do the trick. baking soda mildly abrasive but still gentle, non toxic, can break down acids and scrub off grease. its extremely versatile for cleaning remedies and thereās lots of additional ways online on how to use it aside from what ill be going over in this post. it can even be used as toothpaste (use on its own or mix with coconut oil and maybe some peppermint oil), deodorant, or as an antacid! distilled white vinegar lightly acidic (compared to store bought cleaners) can be used as a disinfectant while being completely non toxic. lemons and lemon juice has antibacterial and antiseptic qualities, also has a good scent (as good as vinegar works, i still like to use lemon juice to cover up the smell). lime juice also works, but lemon juice is usually preferred. salt a little more abrasive than baking soda for scrubbing, and also absorbs liquids. (personally i havent really used salt at all yet for cleaning) multipurpose cleaner recipes for these, youāll probably want to buy a plastic spray bottle or reuse an empty one from an old cleaning product you had. these three recipes can be kept refrigerated to prolong use. you can use any of these as an all purpose cleaner, its just whatever you feel works for you! cleaner one 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 teaspoons vinegar or lemon juice ¼ teaspoon dish soap (like method or seventh generation) 2 cups hot water cleaner 2 16 oz baking soda 4 tablespoons dish soap 1 cup warm water cleaner 3 (the one i almost always use) ½ cup warm water ¼ cup vinegar ¼ cup lemon juice sink drains generally just pouring boiling water down the drain will do the trick (be careful if you have a porcelain sink as it could shatter from extremely temperature changes like from cold to boiling). but a great way to keep your drains clean is to pour a ¼ cup baking soda down each drain, followed by a half cup of vinegar (remember that baking soda + vinegar fizzes up a lot, so donāt panic when it happens! its just doing its job cleaning), let it set for about 20 minutes to an hour, then pour boiling water down the drains to flush them out. i try to do this every week, and it works so incredibly well! ovens sprinkle about ¼ inch baking soda across the bottom of the oven and spray it with water to keep it moist. repeat spraying it every 30-45 minutes (maybe 4 different times) to keep it from drying. then let it set overnight. in the morning scrub the dried baking soda with a damp sponge and then rinse off the residue. if theres still some grime in the oven, use an old toothbrush with white vinegar to scrub the stubborn areas. stovetops for initial spill overs, sprinkle with salt to absorb the mess and then scrub off. if you have an electric burner and something spilled/burned into the burner pan, sprinkle with salt and cinnamon and wipe off. the cinnamon will mask the burnt smell. additionally, all stovetops can be cleaned with a baking soda solution. use a toothbrush with baking soda to scrub, then rinse thoroughly. microwaves take a glass cup and fill it with ¼ cup vinegar and 1 cup water and microwave for about 4-5 minutes (you want it to be boiling for about 3 minutes). when itās done let it sit in the microwave without opening it for about 10-20 minutes. after that, it should be very easy to wipe clean as everything will be loosened up. you can also do this but instead of vinegar, use lemon slices put in a bowl of water - this will help with any odors in your microwave.
utensils and containers usually a baking soda paste (made from baking soda and water/lemon juice) will scrub these clean. if you have a lunchbox or thermos that is starting to have a weird smell, pour ¼ cup of salt into it and it let sit overnight then wipe clean in the morning. wooden kitchen items (cutting board, mixing spoons, bowls etc) for a cutting board, wipe with a mixture of a little dish soap and water. then wipe with a cloth dipped in salt. you should also occasionally clean your wooden products by wiping them with a sponge dipped in vinegar to remove grease and odors. you can also use baking soda to clean them. or you can use lemon juice by rubbing some into the wood and let it sit overnight and rinse in the morning. for wood items that are starting to crack, fade, or are becoming brittle, rub them down with a generous amount of olive oil, following the grain. you may need to repeat this two or three times. if theres any oil thatĀ āpoolsā anywhere, just dab with paper towel to absorb it. pots, pans, cookware, dishes for most things you can scrub with a baking soda paste. for things like really dirty casserole dishes, pour them with boiling water and a few tablespoons of salt and let it sit until the water cools then finish cleaning it. for really dirty pots and pans, usually just letting them set with hot water for a while works, but if you need to, put the dirty pan on the stove with water and let it boil for a few minutes. for tough spots that are still left over, pour salt directly onto the problem and then scrub. greasy pans and cookie sheets can be left to soak with hot water and vinegar to loosen them up. dishwasher about once a week put a cup of vinegar on the top shelf if your empty dishwasher. run a complete cycle. then remove the cup of vinegar, and sprinkle baking soda across the bottom of the dishwasher and run a second cycle. this has worked very well for me!! surface cleaning using undiluted vinegar once a day to scrub surfaces will usually keep them clean. you can also cut a lemon into wedges, sprinkle it with baking soda and scrub surfaces with the wedges. for anything stainless steel (faucets, knobs, etc) using baking soda to scrub them and then rinse with water makes them nice and shiny! lemon juice is also helpful to use for any hard water stains. floors (tile, ceramic, linoleum, vinyl) for tile floors use a bucket of warm water mixed with ½ cup baking soda and mop. rinse thoroughly. for ceramic, linoleum, or vinyl, use a gallon of warm water mixed with 1 cup vinegar. rinsing is not necessary. tea/coffee stains in mugs scrub with baking soda, and maybe salt if its more stubborn. garbage cans/disposals keep garbage cans smell neutralized by sprinkling the bottom of the can with baking soda each time you empty it. to clean a garbage disposal, once a month pour ¼ cup salt, ¼ cup baking soda, ¼ cup dishwasher detergent into the disposal, turn on the hot water in your sink and run the disposal. you can also throw the leftover rinds from lemons or limes and run the disposal to help clean the teeth of the disposal and give a fresh scent! grout make a paste from baking soda and water and scrub with a toothbrush. rinse when finished. toilets pour ½ cup vinegar into the toilet and let it soak for 30 minutes. then sprinkle a toilet bowl brush with baking soda and scrub any problem areas. use the vinegar from the toilet and any additional baking soda as needed to scrub clean. then flush when finished. bathroom floors for tile or no-wax floors, add ½ cup baking soda to warm water and mop and rinse. you can also add lemon juice for a fresh scent. windows and mirrors 4 tablespoons lemon juice mixed with a half gallon of water. you can also use rubbing alcohol or witch hazel to clean windows and mirrors. wood polish mix 2 parts olive oil to 1 part lemon juice. apply with a soft cloth. pet accidents scrub the area with club soda as soon as possible and let dry. then sprinkle the area with baking soda, after about an hour vacuum the area. if thereās still a stain, apply a generous amount of lemon juice to the area and let it set for 15-30 minutes. then rinse the area well and blot dry. another technique is making a paste from lemon juice and cream of tartar, letting it set and then rinse with water and blot dry. after the stain is removed, deodorize the area with a mixture of vinegar and water. thereās a few things i didnāt cover, but for most problems you can use white vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice, and salt or a combination of those for the vast majority of cleaning and itās almost always safe to use for whatever youāre using it on, although you may want to google it just to be safe before trying it. but there you go! i hope this helps you all as much as this has helped me. having these easily accessible, cheap, vegan alternatives has made cleaning a lot less stressful for me by keeping toxic chemicals out of my house, saving me money, and by actually working, sometimes even better than the high priced chemical versions!
Fully Raw Day 1: 8oz Celery Lemon juice. I thought it would taste gross, but it is suprisingly light and crisp. (It just smells gross lol). Breakfast will be the other half of a watermelon. Lunch will be 5-6 very ripe bananas. And dinner will be a romaine and coodle salad with an avocado. I wish I could tolerate more acidic fruits right now. I'd throw a bunch of tomatoes in that salad. But they burn my tongue and gut so bad. Maybe after I detox I can eat them again.
I was depressed before I went vegan and Iām still depressed 3 years later. If Chris Hemsworth feels ānothing but positive, mentally and physicallyā after switching to a plant based diet then fuck, fucking good for him, but not eating or using animals has nothing to do with mental illness or nutrition. Veganism is about animal rights. Stop painting it as a cure for everything negative in society. These are separate issues.
veg!!! @feedmeveggies
Best kitchen tip my Grandma ever taught me
I keep veggie peelings, cuttings, herb clippings and all other veggie compost in a freezer bag in your freezer for up to a month. At the end of every month I dump this bag into my crockpot, add 6-8 cups of water and cook on low for 6 hours. I drain out the veggies and herbs, and viola! You have like 8 cups of veggie broth.
I save things from veggies like: celery, garlic, onion, carrots, kale, squash, parsnips, peppers, etc. Basically any vegetable that would go into a soup, I save.
I also save bits of herbs that donāt make it into other recipes, or veggies about to go bad I have no other intention for. Itās an amazing way to cut back on costs and food waste. This stock can make enough soup to feed a whole family, or you can freeze it if you are only feeding yourself and thaw as needed.
You can customize with herbs and spices now, or when you go to make your soups. I like to at least toss in garlic, onions, a bay leaf, pepper and rosemary to the broth itself.
I havent bought soup broth in years, and I can make sure my broth is salt free or at least low salt!
Itās such a simple thing to do, and its noticable in your food budget.
So I just bought this very expensive slow juicer because it can make nut milks. I just tried to make hemp milk in it and while it does a great job and the pulp is super dry, the size of the hemp seeds makes it hard for them to all fall in the juicer without getting stuck to the walls. So the remedy would be for me, since it strains the pulp sooo well, to make the milk in my blender then run in through the Hurom to strain.
Other than this obstacle, this thing is amazing and I love it.
