So what is this bingo thing?
Basically itâs a card that is 3x3 or 5x5 (your choice) which has a random selection of prompts on it (drawn from the Saffi prompts database). The central square will always be a WILD Card (aka choose your own prompt) to make things more flexible.
This card is personal to you
When you submit the form for the card you can specify anything you donât want to see, anything you particularly want (e.g. in terms of types of prompts like characters or situational etc.), and you can also say whether you want the card to include NSFW or not. Weâll do our best to accommodate.
In order to complete the bingo card you basically play tic-tac-toe (aka noughts and crosses) with it, trying to get a straight or diagonal line from one side of the card to the other. You complete the line you have BINGO.
Just to be clear, how do I fill a square? You include the prompt in a piece of work whether thatâs a fic, or art, or anything creative! Basically if you think you have covered the prompt then thatâs great we think that too. You can do one prompt per piece of work. For example take writing fic. You can âfill a squareâ by writing a single fic, or if you felt like it you could write a longer fic and fill more squares (aka include more prompts) in the same piece of work.
So to say that another way. One piece of work can include just one prompt (aka square) OR it can include more prompts/squares. You do not have to include more than one prompt in a single piece of work. The choice is entirely yours. Further down I talk about âadditional challengesâ but they are extra, not mandatory, and something you can do/not do, or even start doing and then change your mind about. This is supposed to be fun and as stress-free as possible.
Are there rules? Not really. You can create any kind of fanwork you like. Iâm not doing minimum requirements or anything like that. If you think of an idea which covers more than one of the prompts then thatâs perfectly ok. If your fill also satisfies another event, then so long as that event is cool with it, I certainly donât mind two birds one stone. Basically if you think you have done enough to satisfy the prompt then great, so do we.
This is an all ages event. If you are under 18 you canât request NSFW prompts or complete squares with NSFW fills.
If you want your prompt fill reblogged to this blog then it has to be tagged appropriately. So please make a note of the rating, if itâs NSFW, if there are any triggers included etc. As guidance the major archive warnings from AO3 (Major Character Death, Underage, Rape/Non-Con, and Graphic Depictions of Violence) must be tagged for. With any other warnings the old âif in doubtâ applies. So if you arenât sure whether to tag, do so just to be safe.

What happens if I donât like my card? Get in touch, say what the problem is, and weâll replace the card or the problematic square.
What do I get for BINGO? Satisfaction? Kudos. The joy of having created some wonderful new works for the fandom. Itâs a self-challenge that is hopefully fun.

Badges. Because I donât know about you but Iâm willing to do a fair bit for what basically amounts to a gold star. I never outgrew stickers. They are just fun. Anyway when you complete your card let me know and youâll get a badge. If you do other stuff like a blackout (see below) then you guessed it - another badge. These are scalable so if you do more cards, youâll get bigger and better badges to show off. See the key for the badges here.
So thatâs it just make a line across the card? That doesnât have to be it. You could go for âextra creditâ and do what is called a blackout, where you complete the entire card. You could add on extra challenges for yourself like a particular word limit, or include them all in one long-fic (if you are a fic writer). You could add on extra prompts, like all the entries need to come under a certain theme e.g. Autumn, or include a certain colour like green. If you want help with adding an extra challenge to the card then Iâm happy to try and assist with that, but itâs not a mandatory thing. Whatever inspires you and brings you joy basically. The choice is yours.
Speaking of âfic writersâ is this challenge just for writers? Nope! This bingo challenge is open for everybody. Are you an artist? Awesome, have fun drawing. Do you make gifs? Cool, go for it. Do you make edits? Or fanvids? Or other kinds of fanart? Or music playlists? Or anything I havenât mentioned? Itâs all good!
Is there a deadline? A soft deadline perhaps. Iâm not doing sign-ups, and start dates, and all that. Anyone is welcome to ask for a card at any time. What I think might be helpful is to say try and complete your card within 3-5 months (depending on if you have a 3x3 or 5x5 card). As I know from experience that no deadline, sometimes = no motivation to actually get on with it. However, if life happens and you go over time then donât worry about it. No stress.
How do I post?
If you post on tumblr then we can reblog easily. Tag us @saffi-bingo and also tag the work with #saffi-bingo. If it doesnât get reblogged within a few days then feel free to shoot an ask/message. Nothing will be intentionally missed but tumblr doesnât always play nice.
Post to AO3, or elsewhere depending on the kind of fanwork, and then shoot us the link. We can make a post for it.
