Swaine looked at his younger brother, unsure of what to make of his sudden appearance. “Hey Cassian, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in Hamelin?”

♕; “Cassian?” Having spent so much time avoiding contact with other people, the young prince was unable to put two and two together when it came to that nickname, and as such, his eyes darted around, searching for whom his brother might have been referring to. “Are... are you talking to me?”

"Insinuating…?" Swaine was a little unsure of how his words could have been taken that way, but it seemed that his brother really did like staying in the castle. That was kind of surprising since his own feelings were so much the opposite, but at the same time, not really that surprising coming from the person who had lived in that place his whole life.

When Marcassin started to look embarrassed, Swaine laughed. Finally, he’d gotten the reaction he was hoping for! That was his little brother’s true nature showing out, and it made him really glad that he still knew how to push those buttons, even if it was by accident.

"You mean you used to be even more of a shut-in than you are now?" he grinned.

♕; ”Well I..." He paused for a moment, lips pursing as he contemplated retorting by throwing his brother into the jaws of guilt, blaming the whole affair on Shadar. Although, what came out was an altogether more vague and rushed excuse. "To a certain degree... at a certain point in time, I was... very much on the agoraphobic side, however...."

So much for his usual refined and regal demeanour. Honestly, of all the traits to stand the test of time, it just had to be Gascon's resounding ability to work his brother up into a state of childish embarrassment. But then what could he do...? Gascon had always been the one with the sharp wit, where as Marcassin... for all the ethereal grace people seemed to hold him to, in the face of sarcasm he was better at little other than giving stammered responses.

"Even you have to admit, the very fact that I am here is proof enough that I've made a considerable amount of progress." And doubtless, his elder brother had already formulated the perfect sarcastic remark to respond with.

"Oh, really?" Swaine felt a little bit happy at the thought he was missed, even though he figured that Marcassin was probably just trying to make conversation, not really meaning it. He’d sort of put the words in his mouth, anyway, so it wasn’t really a compliment, but hey, Swaine was the kind of person to take what he can get.

And then with the last bit he caught on that maybe it was a relief at the castle for him to be out and about, and even that was kind of cool. “I suppose the castle must get pretty stuffy, I can’t blame you for wanting to get out of there.” Swaine laughed quietly to himself, rather pleased.

♕; "Pretty stuffy...?" Cerulean eyes widened momentarily, for the very reason he eventually came to discern was behind his brother's latter comment, there were times when dry humour went straight over Marcassin's head. "You wouldn't be insinuating I'm a shut-in now, would you?"

The huff which ensued as the young as the prince folded his lithe arms across his chest was half in jest, and half in earnest, a little disgruntled that he was lacking in material to help himself dispute that. "There... may be some truth to that, admittedly..." He confessed, slight embarrassment written all over his face, "but in my defence, I am no where near as bad as I used to be!"

"Oh, I see." Swaine smiled and tried not to let on how touched he was that his little bro was here. "My well-being, huh? I’ll bet you were just lonely, and too scared to admit it!"

Swaine put his hands on his hips and watched to see if it could get a reaction out of him.

♕; The prince gently pressed a hand to his mouth, suppressing a chuckle at that last comment, "Something along those lines, I suppose." He gave a gentle nod in his brother's direction, personal experience telling him that the best way not to let Gascon 'win' was to simply agree with him. "Let us just say that the palace lacks a certain something in your absence.” With which, he left the insinuation that the something in question, was a general air of chaos.

♕; "Why, you are Hamelin." The prince angled curiously at the stranger before him. He would have thought that as much would have been plain as day to anyone who set foot in the city's grounds. That said, there was something about this woman, an air of unfamiliar magic that lingered around her which suggested to the sage that she could very well have come from another world entirely. Whatever the case, he had allowed the silence to sit for a little too long, and the very least he could do was offer the woman an introduction, "I am Prince Marcassin, monarch of these lands. And if I may ask your name, my lady?"

♕; "Oh, not terribly long. A minute or so, at most." The young price replied, a faint smile flickering across his lithe features. "Forgive the intrusion, but I felt it necessary to check in on your well-being, Gascon."
