sagelies:
he had never been this scared. to say that meant a great deal considering the amount of dangerous situations he’d experienced & luckily got out alive of, though, of course, not without sustaining few scratches here n’ there ⏤ new additions to his already worn body. where could he begin to explain ? how could he even start ? “ baby… ” her lips provided some comfort against the surface of his bruised knuckles, calming down his trembling hands. “ you know my dad… the way he is. i don’t think there’s much more to explain. ” to tell her the truth would put their whole relationship up in flames. the only stable, constant thing in his life would crumble right before him & not long, he knew, he would too. to keep lying to her, keep pretending that everything was all right, would leave him in decay. “ don’t worry your pretty little mind ‘bout it, yeah ? ” he slid his hands away from her grasp, for he knew that only a bit of persuasion was needed for him to spill when it came to her. instead, he caressed her cheek with his palm. “ i promise you, i’m okay. ” he leaned over & gave her a kiss that tasted like a lie.
he was right, of course he was; sage knew what sebastian greene was like and even more so what he was like around his son. nodding softly sage melted into his touch, turning her head into his palm to press a kiss to his hand when they parted. “mind is still pretty worried about you,” she admitted, a furrow in her brow that didn’t seem to want to go away. the words he spoke were those of someone she didn’t need to worry about, but, the way he said them wasn’t as convincing. “if there’s something going on, i just want you to tell me, we deal with things together, don’t we?” sage coaxed softly, hating the idea that she knew something was bothering him while she didn’t know enough to help. he might have told her not to worry but it didn’t help the slightest with the anxious pit in her stomach growing, something was on his mind and the way ollie hesitate to tell her wasn’t doing much to calm her down. “please, ol? don’t shut me out.”
