nothing new from me, Baelor x Maekar omegaverse AU
featuring Daeron II being a mediocre father (he's not bad like some certain others, he's just missing his hot wife), Myriah haunting the narrative, Baelor ready to jump and Maekar tired of this shit
as a starting point, Myriah dies when the boys are young, but after Baelor presented as an alpha, and also after Aegon IV is dead, so then a few years later Maekar presents as an omega, wishing for his mother to still be around to help him through it (maybe he kept her scarf or something locked up in a box, so he still has her scent to soothe him a little)
and from that point on, him and Daeron II just don't get along at all, he was already struggling to be a parent after Myriah passed away, so connecting to his sons was already hard (whether he's alpha or beta, I think that also might be the reason for the disconnection between them?)
it gets worse when Baelor gets involved
so Daeron wants to wed Maekar off to a house that would give the best political and financial opportunities to the crown, or maybe to a lord that could tame him? or maybe both?
because Maekar doesn't really care that he's an omega. he's still not interested in proper etiquette, sewing, I think yk what type of lessons I mean. he still wants to practice his swordsmanship, to sneak out only with his horse and a cloak, to read about old valyrian legends. he's wild, rough, and definitely not how a royal omega should be (and in some ways, he's how Myriah used to be when she and Daeron II started to get to know each other better, years before their marriage)
and Baelor really wants to marry him
because there's no one quite as Maekar, no one who gets him, who sees him as more than his father's heir
it leads to many arguments with Daeron II, because looking at his youngest, he does not see him as a queen to the future king of the Seven Kingdoms
this situation lasts for years, Daeron II is proposing other potential marriages to Baelor, and Baelor refuses, repeating that he already made his choice
and soon the rumours are starting to spread because the heir is well past the age he should be married and sire a child of his own. even his two younger brothers are already bethroted, but not him. same goes for Maekar, who might be around ripe age of six and teen, but also with no suitors around him. the court is speculating whether something might be wrong with both of them
and that's causing trouble for Daeron II, with his council pressuring him daily about making a decision or ordering his sons to marry and get this over with
so he tries to talk some sense into Baelor but, of course, that's no use. Baelor's standing firm, and even if Daeron II threatens to strip him of his titles and position, Baelor's like, cool, go ahead, have Aerys as your heir, and so they reach a stalemate because yeah, no way that's happening 😭
and so there's only one option left, and it's convincing Maekar, which... well, doesn't go as planned because he's had enough of this shit, Daeron II trying to marry him off, Baelor refusing, and Maekar between all of this would rather become a Septa at this point
probably the key argument here is what Myriah would've wanted? because she loved her sons and would've wanted them to be happy? (wait because that would also work with Maekar, Dyanna and their children, why didn't I think of that...)
well, in the end, they get married, are happily fighting bastards together, have some kids, and all this stuff
