Reading Brian Froud’s faery tales at 2am as a way to productively procrastinate my last assignment due today
Going through your old texts with someone who is now dead is a strange feeling. It’s kind of like seeing old photos or videos of them but, different, if u know what I mean.
So it’s now been a month since I was talking to this guy Nate. He’s the one I went on a date with that night I went clubbing with my coworker. Over the last month I’ve stayed over at his house about five times. We on that boyfriend status. He’s going to be in London for a university trip all July and is coming back on the 30th I think. I’m just anxious about my testing — it’s in late July and will determine whether or not I can do field studies in August. I’m eager to get to August cuz then I’ll know how to balance school, work, field studies AND seeing him and vice versa. I’ll be 21 by then anyway so I can purchase le’ alcohol teehee.
I had a dream where this gorgeous white chick was super into me and kept touching me and eventually we made out but I didn’t really enjoy it or feel anything while it happened 😭 other than dread like I was going down a dark path, she was like “oh my god you’re so perfect” and I was like “I’m actually gay and I like men, I’m only doing this because I thought we could be good business partners” and she was flabbergasted and felt betrayed and fucked off

Young Marika sketches
I was debating making Marika blind. Itako are an ascetic, cultic order comprised of women characterized by blindness or impaired sight, which is regarded as an ominous sign of heightened spiritual aptitude. They are trained as shamanistic mediums who invoke spirits and likewise allow spirits to possess their bodies. The ritual dance of kamioroshi is a ceremonial practice performed by itako, and one that the Hornsent likewise perform to call down divinities and invite them to inhabit their horns.
You could apply this real-world context to Marika by suggesting that she was taken into the shaman village and trained as one of their own due to her impaired sight. The jar saints wear blindfolds, and the Grandmother's eyeless corpse has her empty sockets deliberately obscured. I have a rather speculative headcanon that Marika's eye may have been healed or restored when she was endowed with the healing power of gold.
Alternatively, I have seen a theory proposing that the shamans shared cultural similarities with the dancing pagans of Dominula, in which the shamans cannibalized the very men they used as breeding stock in order to produce daughters. I have also seen another theory suggesting that Marika performed the kamioroshi ritual at the Divine Gate, calling forth the Elden Beast from the heavens to descend upon and inhabit her body through the power of runes reaped from sacrifices, with the conduit-like nature of the Hornsent and shamans facilitating the ritual.
The Divine Gate appears to incorporate shimenawa, symbolizing purification, while the chamber preceding the gateway resembles a cleansing chamber. In that sense, Enir-Ilim itself can be viewed as an immense shrine complex.
Kamioroshi Gene: Inara Fruit
The world of Kamioroshi revolves around companies and so I wanted to make a product, a GMO fruit from Kuino’s home world:
Inara The Inara fruit is a small, vibrant yellow berry that grows on a woody evergreen vine cultivated on the paradise world of Shalush, where it thrives in mist-laden, temperate mountain regions. The fruit boasts a citrus-like flavor with honey undertones — slightly acidic, yet delightfully sweet — and is prized for its water-rich flesh, which bursts in the mouth with each bite. The Maroudo family of Shalush developed a seedless variety that has become a popular export through the agricultural enterprise Enuma. Today, it is widely enjoyed as a snack and is also used in toppings, flavorings, and winemaking.
Kamioroshi Gene sketches — Philo & Olwen designs
I’ve been wanting to give Philo a design since march so finally did some sketches of them
As well as a slight Olwen & Teg redesign ideation
Additionally, wrote a brief Philo mood concept:
A single tear was shed. The boy had stared long into the night sky. A long, long journey he had endured, and now, at last, he found a moment of peace at the docks, his feet cooled by the still waters of the pond. The worry, the dread, the little deaths he had suffered were drowned out by the gentle sway of the reeds and the chorus of crickets. Then he saw a brilliant light breaking through the clouds. From within it came a voice that knew his name. The sound of God filled his being, and for a fleeting moment, Philo glimpsed heaven.
Seraph sketches
Wanted to sketch Seraphs based off a bunch of shit I read off of Wikipedia haha. There are some Syrian wall carvings that depict six-winged gods in head dresses, some with feathers, as well as what looks like winged serpents on ancient Israeli seals + like, how the word is related to fiery, flying serpents that god would send out into the world. I’d like to look into it more, but Seraphs are also like, passionately self-nullifying beings of fiery light, capable of death and healing and the like, ever in supplication to their Lord — molecules or the noise of God. I don’t know anything about anything but the Seraphs being serpents made me think of the snake of Eden or of Leviathan, a sea serpent of the abyss that exists as like, the lightless threshold between creation and the hell worlds. Serpents of light and darkness for Yaweh the old storm god.
hey, I really love your art! It's so unique and moody. I was wondering if you've been inspired by Tsutomu Nihei?
oh, for sure, he’s definitely one of the artists and writers I drew inspiration from, and thank you for liking my chicken scratch art! I had been developing an idea for a sci-fi setting and an online mutual of mine recommended I check him out and I really digged the vibe of Blame! though only got half way through it.
Y’know what would be a fun idea? As much as I love the demigods, wouldn’t it be neat if we got a story from the pov of one of their subordinates? Hell, what is we got it from the POV of a page in service to his or hers master, some manner of noble, who is caught in the turmoil of post-shattering politics when Morgott takes the throne and people like Godefroy, Godrick and Radahn wage war upon the capital. I had a vision of the page making erd-leaf tea gold rowa for flavoring, looking out the window at the capital while the smoke of incense creeps through the greenery of the room.
So I binged watched the Hunger Game movies. Started reading Ballad. Taking note of character descriptions. Was talking about Snow with bf yesterday over call — “from a young age, he was using the perfume of roses to hide the musk of his poverty”
the Death Stranding audiobook is pretty good
KAMIOROSHI GENE: Lord Tikarathin, Eleka & Silat
The corporate conglomerate of unknowable name, a colony-entity by nature, permeates through bohu as a leviathan of ancient tehom — a beast bound to the hunt, for the Void is the only river by which it may travel.
Lord Tikarathin Lord Tikarathin dwells in the blackest den of the corporate core, an executive official and charismatic socialite with a penchant for bodily modification. He has served the conglomerate for an epoch, performing duties as a chief administrator and liaison officer between the Core’s subsidiary groups, securing operations. Tikarathin’s scarific modifications are beautific in origin, for the pigment black is an analogue of the void. It is culture, and it is vanity. The Core is a threshold, possessing a phantasmal liminality scarcely comprehended by those outside its depth. Tikarathin’s galas are of high repute and are often held within the Core: a deeply macabre yet lavish convocation of corporate members, their families, and attendants. Tikarathin officiates Ge Sol, a corporate ritual derived from solstice traditions of the past, wherein a mass celebratory aggregation occurs in orbit of the ancestral world of Terra, now derelict. Tikarathin is high priest in the arcana orgia of Tehom-Yam, an old corporate spirit and pillar of navigation — the personified void-ocean and fanged wanderer. When on excursions, whether for delegation or ceremony, Lord Tikarathin is ever accompanied by his secretary, Eleka, and his honor guard, Silat.
Eleka Eleka is a Tachton construct in the form of a pallid young woman — near pure white — her flesh purchased by Tikarathin from Azoth’s finest catalog of specialty specimens, after which he requested modifications. Eleka is a Tachton Safra, modified to perform complex calculations and data processing, a trait compounded by her corporate conditioning. Compared to other Tachton constructs, who constitute the basest caste, Eleka is afforded a modicum of luxury, but is nevertheless subject to her master. Eleka performs all manner of tasks, from the mundane to the clandestine.
Silat The Core Guard Silat of Vulcan is the bound escort of Tikarathin. Silat is a qelippin entity, a mechanized husk — Tachton Gavra — characteristic of the Vulcan brand, which specializes in brain emulation, brain-computer interfaces, and the synergy of artillery and cybernetics. Silat was once flesh, a member of the old Core Guard under Grigori, pulled from inventory for Gavra experimentation. Silat is the personal bodyguard of Lord Tikarathin, functioning as a warrior-protector with concealed movement and a flexible, contorted form.
New Kamioroshi concepts
Lord Tikarathin, a liaison officer from Corporate's blackest core, has been dispatched to the marsh world of Talbut to serve as the integration lead over Mægera's operations following Director Samiaza's recent antics, insubordination toward the conglomerate, and generally poor management of production and resources. She has been carelessly deploying units and losing candidates in the Shalush Program for cultivating sacrificial mediums, whether through escape, acts of violence, rebellion, or hauntings that drive them into hysteria. Tikarathin has arrived to tighten the leash on Samiaza and get operations back on track.
This is Eleka, Tikarathin's assistant, a Tachton servitor construct whose flesh was taken from cold storage. As his secretary, she is capable of performing a number of superhuman computations, serves as a repository for vast swaths of data, and carries out errands ranging from the mundane to the clandestine and macabre. Surgical scars from her augmentations run across her body. Her master bears similar scars, although members of the high brass often embellish or beautify theirs as marks of status.
A newer character concept, Silat is a Tachton servitor. Whereas characters like Gwellian and Eleka are flesh-based Tachtons, typically derived from and modified using living hosts or subjects, with augmentations performed to enhance abilities such as shape-shifting mimicry and other adaptive traits, Silat is the "muscle" to Eleka's subtlety. Composed primarily of machinery, he serves as Tikarathin's bodyguard and bound escort.
Some Samiaza ideations. Samiaza was once a candidate due to her possessing descent-gene characteristics, but because of faulty expression and insufficient aptitude, she was reassigned for Tachton experimentation. She was later placed in the role of handler and eventually promoted to director, owing to her obsessive, pathological disposition and her savvy managerial skills, which made her effective at driving production and coordinating large-scale onslaughts.
She's more akin to Silat — a "ghost in a shell," haha — but occupies a much higher position in the hierarchy. Even so, Tikarathin outranks her by a considerable margin. He is Corporate. Samiaza, by contrast, is more like an experimental prop-up overseeing a regional directorship, just one of countless subsidiaries beneath the conglomerate.
She performed well for a time, until she began making more and more mistakes. She's a bit unhinged. Then again, everyone within — or marked by — the Company is insane.
Sketch of Semuta, who I now think is the story's main character and protagonist. Her mission is to bring about the Company's death by any means necessary.

My friend took me to the club for the first time!
I also went on a very chill and succesul date. He likes to draw and is an expressive lyricist and writer. He’s kind of a busy-body when it comes to cleaning and organization but is very communicative. I stayed over at his place and we are planning on seeing each other again soon.
