I was at a Palestinian solidarity gig last night & the one Palestinian artist who was going to perform had COVID so the organisers asked around to see if there were any Palestinians who'd like to say a few words instead.

A local guy who was born & raised in Gaza offered to speak. He started with "I'm an engineer. i'm not a poet or a politician. I don't... do public speaking… I had no idea what to say when I came up here. So i'm just going to tell you about the street I grew up on."

And then he did! He went down the street building by building. He told us about the ice cream shop on the corner, the grocery shop, the charity that supports people with intellectual disabilities. He told us about the people who he knew growing up, the families who still live in the different houses. He told us about the university buildings and about his friends who quit being accountants to start a band together. All on that street.

All of which is gone now, by the way. Bombed to dust.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health released a full report with names, ages and IDs of those who were killed – maybe at least in part as a fuck you to Western media and the US president who suddenly cast doubt on the number of fatalities. Over 7000 people died. Whole families wiped out forever. It's beyond comprehension. May their memory be eternal.

Hey! I just realized that there are new incles now and y'all probably don’t know what Seungyoon and the rest of us are talking about by wishing Jinwoo a happy birthday on 9/25.

Soooo the story is that Jinwoo was actually born on September 25th (presumably a home birth) but his parents didn’t register his birthday until the 26th. September 26 is his legal birthday and from what I understand Jinwoo usually just goes with that day.

We just celebrate both days anyways and the only reason we know all of this is because Seungyoon spilled the whole story last year and he’s the one to repeatedly tell him happy birthday on the 25th. It’s a bit sweet tbh.
