My husband has not read the Silmarillion or other Tolkien works outside of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit books. But I have been giving him lore dumps as I read through it all myself and he's decided to start making memes based on the things I tell him. Haha! So here are his first ones. 𤣠š
Such a good thing to remember. That in this broken world, in this time where anger, grief, and the desire for retribution reign even in my own heart at times, that our fight is not against flesh and that justice is God's.
The Lord of the Rings is so full of goodness. It's good on a literary quality level, but it's also just crammed full of good things written by a guy who understands goodness. It's good on a literary level, good on a moral level, good in its appreciation of so many different kinds of good things. You've got the vastness of ancient myths and the homely coziness of small towns and casual heroism from the most ordinary people. It knows a hot bath is good, an ancient legend is good, giving up everything and everyone you've known in a desperate attempt to save the world is good. So many different layers of what good is, and it understands and appreciates all of them. Very few books are to-the-core Good the way that this one is.

You must feel so edgy and smart hating on Rings of Power. Loooooook at meeeee, I'm muuuuuch better than all of you dumb people who enjoy things!
Typical ugly American. Keep your hate for yourself, you halfwit.
You say, going out of your way to be insulting and hateful. Lol! Also, it isn't edgy to hate the Rings of Power. I'm fairly certain it's the general concensus at this point. Just look at the viewing figures. You really just have to have eyeballs, braincells, and standards. I like to think that's more people than not. Although, more and more I am made to wonder about that. So, not cool or edgy or especially smart. Just common sense, really. If you are allowed to "like what you like" then I am allowed to hate what I hate. You know, equality and all that. You stand by your beliefs, and I'll stand my mine. And I believe this show isn't just bad. It is heatful, disrespectful, and malicious. A perversion of a beautiful mythos without which storytelling today would be totally changed and greatly diminished. They take the works of greater men and twist them into unrecognizable sludge to push agendas rooted in vanity and greed. It's the antithesis of Tolkien. I will never stop pointing that out. This is my line in the sand. I'm happy to die on the hill that is the great works of J. R.R. Tolkien and his son. It is invaluable, and it's worth fighting for.
It was already shown that only 37% of American viewers even finished the first season of Rings of Power (it does not deserve proper italics). That was already a hilarious fail, but more numbers have come out. Over the course of 5 days, the viewing numbers for the Season 2 Premier were roughly half of what the Season 1 Premier did in 4 days. This worthless terrible show is one of the biggest disasters in the history of television, which can only be a good thing.
Because here's the thing, the best way to describe this show isn't terrible, or boring, or cheap looking, or failing the source material. It is all those things, but the best word to describe it is hateful. This show is Hateful. The contempt for Tolkien and fans of Tolkien drips from the showrunners, writers, and actors. The number of changes they've made can't be explained in any other way. One explanation is that the recognize the true genius, imagination, and talent that Tolkien had; and lacking those things themselves, hate him for having them. The other is that they hate him for being a Caucasian Catholic Male.
The only other show that seems to have a similar hatred of the source material is Velma. The Acolyte and the most reason season of Doctor Who certainly hated the established fan base, but even they didn't show such blatant disrespect and hate for the source. Kathleen Kennedy on the other hand, does seem to hate everything that George Lucas created.
And the only thing the showrunners, writers, actors and fans can say in defense is "If you don't like this you're a bigot! You're a racist, misogynist, homophobe, etc."
I can only shake my head that entertainment has fallen so far and celebrate the failures of such awful shows made by such awful people.
I could not agree more! Thank you for summing it up so well!
Continuing to have a deep and truly violent hatred of Rings of Power that only gets worse the more I see of it. Genuinely I am so sick of people pretending that the show did anything interesting with the material given how apparent it is that they cared very little for the quality of just about everything but some of scene pieces. I canāt get over how awful the costuming is and how deeply I despise so much how they interpreted the Second Age.
Holy shit, some people are still ardently defending amazonās stinking shitheap that is ārings of powerā as being ātrue to tolkienā and⦠ugh.Ā It usually takes nothing but a casual browse through their opinions to see the glaring idiot-takes that go into informing such a viewpoint and itās always invariably the same old takes.Ā No amount of contrived bullshit, fucking stupid plot point stacked upon fucking stupid plot point along with a frankly cringeworthy script all justified by *checks* misquoting J.R.R. Tolkien and shitting on Christopher Tolkien can obfuscate the fact that itās just shit television.Ā Ā A shoddy, cringeworthy story that could have been generated via machine learning trained on online trends.Ā It doesnāt matter if you literally spend a billion USD polishing a turd, it still remains a turd. Ā And where does their loathing for Christopher Tolkien come from?Ā Is it just because he respected his fatherās clearly stated intentions and wishes regarding adaptions until the day of his death and these people donāt like that? It canāt be that simple can it?Ā Ā *shakes head*Ā I mean, feel free to enjoy it if you like, but youāll eventually have to admit quality isnāt subjective and if thatās the flavour of shite you enjoy, then who am I to stop you?Ā Just donāt go around telling others that it smells of roses.Ā It would have been fine (not good, fine) if it were just generic fantasy, might even be watchable, but if youāre going to adapt Tolkien certain standards are important and missing them so egregiously fully warrants it being labelled for the beforementioned polished turd it is.
I couldn't agree more!
Friendly reminder (not because I care about smut fan fiction, or whatever. Do what you want) That Aemond is, at the oldest, like 17 years old. I think most viewers and even the show itself forget this and often, but do the math. It's there. Just a good thing to keep in mind while reading his character.

This is really not okay.
I think some people fail to realize that men can be sexually assaulted, too, and not just by other men. This girl shoves him against the wall and slaps him three fucking times when he pushes her away. Heck, he has to push her away twice before she backs off for a moment. Then she goes right back to kissing him.
If the genders were reversed, everyone on this site would be flipping a shit. And if anyone dares to tell me that itās different when a girl does it to a guy, I will personally write you a three-page essay on why it is still not okay.
Iām just going to REBLOG this all the fucking time
I SWEAR I WILL ALWAYS REBLOG THIS.
This is not okay. Gender does not matter. Forcing someone will never be okay. Never.
Iām looking at every single one of my 290+ followers right now, and Iām expecting you to reblog this.
Hey I hope you all reblog this AND DONāT IGNORE THIS.
Women can be just as abusive as men, despite what society tells you.
This is the post that brought my attention to the abuse of men. I hope it can help someone else.
Someone who follows me better reblog this.
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!!
P REACH!!!
She hits him and still thinks sheāll get some? Abusive AND dumb!
If you see this post then you need toĀ STOPĀ SCROLLING because you can lookĀ at the cute cat pictures later.Ā REBLOG and spread the word because this is VERY IMPORTANT. Everyone should be aware that forcing someone and making them do things without their consent is wrong regardless of their gender.
not only does she slap him but she kisses him?? that is sexual assault right there.
