“So what’s the deal with this ‘Valentine’ thing? Bee said it’s a day where humans show love with a bunch o’ gifts and stuff - but then there was like different kinds, and all these rules, and it got really confusing.”

“Ah..well I..um…not very good with this sort of thing. But that’s basically it.. It can get pretty complicated though..some people are picky or get upset if you don’t do something specific for them..” He rubbed the back of his neck, looking up at the other, a bit surprised by the sudden question from him. “It’s usually the more sought after day to confess ones feelings..new or old?”

“Huh. I guess that last part makes more sense.” Sideswipe crossed his arms, head tilted thoughtfully. “Seemed weird there was just one day for givin’ gifts or whatever.” Sitting on a nearby rock, he glanced down at Ryou again. “You ever confessed to anybody?”

“I..well..no, I mean..too busy to get to like anyone..want to get more friends..” He clears his throat, feeling just the slightest bit of nervousness and embarrassment over such an admission to the bot. Ryou clearing his throat before looking back up at Sideswipe with a brow lifted. “Thinking of confessing to anyone today?”

He shook his head. “Nah. All I’ve got is my team, and they’re more like friends or family.” Sideswipe rested his elbows on his knees, considering something. “…I dunno that I’ve ever liked any bot that way. I mean, there’s some who I think are really cool, I like workin’ with ‘em and hearin’ ‘em say good stuff about me, but I don’t think that really counts.”

“Ah..well I guess that is it then, both gonna be alone today.” Save for now when they were currently enjoying one anothers company. Sighing softly as he thought about anyone he might want to give a valentine gift too or confess.. Just shaking his head and lying on his back, eyes drifting closed. “Not that it is a bad thing, just not ready for it…don’t need to be with someone to be happy.”

“That’s true.” Sideswipe was quiet for a moment, thinking again. “So is it just for romantic stuff? ‘Cause that sounds pretty limiting. I mean, if it’s a day to do somethin’ for people or bots you care about, then friends count too, right?” He didn’t have an amanti - honestly, he wasn’t even sure he had an amica - but maybe he could do something for his team. Especially Bee, since the older bot liked Earth and its customs so much.

“Pretty much, mean some friends give gifts but it’s not the tradition for the holiday.” He sighs and just wonders what one would get an Autobot for valentine’s day. The thought alone making him laugh a little bit..peering at him as he begins to roll on his side a bit to watch him now. “Holidays are usually pretty specific, except for Christmas..that one is for giving gifts to people you like and are close too..”

The Intern..

Ryou stood outside the..rather creepy lab, peering at the door and then the address written on his hand several times before he reached out. Tentatively knocking on the door as he tried to calm his nerves. He could do this, he was young..eager, willing to do what it took to get a position with this guy. A lab assistant needed ad was what had lead him here..though it was handed out by a rather sketchy guy who laughed when Ryou had taken it. After knocking the young high school student stood still fixing his hair and clothes before taking a deep calming breath. Putting on one of his best smiles, after all he did have a charming one, perhaps here it would help land this job. Even...if it was illegal for him to have one anyway, but he was sure it’d be fine. He looked quite tall for a sixteen year old. His papers in his bag that would display his grades and report cards...all A’s and high recommendations from his teachers and schools..there was no way he would be ‘unlucky’ and not get this job! @rickthehorrible

“You all?” He blinked and looks at the older man, the teen perking his brow a tad lazily. His hands gripping the straps of his backpack.

“Oh, uh, other Ricks,” he answered sheepishly. He forget he wasn’t on the Citadel right now. “It’s…kind of a long story, never mind…”

“Um..alright..” He blinked again, scratching at his cheek a moment before letting out a breath. Holding his hand out to the other then as a faint smile forms on his face. “Nice to meet you Rick..I’m Ryou, but my friends call me Guchi.” @rookiecoprick

He took the hand shaking it warmly. It was kind of nice just being called “Rick” without other Ricks there to get mixed up with. He hadn’t been called by his real name in a long time.

Giving a mild squeeze to the others hand he lets his smile widen, growing a bit more warm before he lowers his hand away from the others. “So are you on shift then?” The teen let that curious expression show again, peering at him with those amber colored eyes. “Would like to eat lunch with you if you’re on break...aha.” @rookiecoprick

While there were still many questions that Alder still wanted to address… he decided to let this guy off the hook. He was obviously a bit anxious, and not used to the surroundings.

“Well, former Champion. I was never much of one in the first place, though. Please, don’t see me as anything special!” he managed a warmer smile, “Do you need help getting back to the rest of your group?”

“Ah..my apologies..didn’t know you had lost, though it was rather cool..champion that wandered around.” He laughed a bit then, seeming to relax rather quickly, peering at the shorter male with an idle look of warmth and admiration. “That’d be nice..but I couldn’t take advantage of you like that.” He feels his face go a bit red at the offer to help him. Moving to grip one of the pokeballs at his side while shaking his head. “My Houndoom could probably find the scent of my class and lead me back..”

“Hm!” in turn, Alder bows subtly. “Ryou, all is forgiven! You don’t have to be nervous with me, I’m generally quite laid-back.” To further-emphasize that point, the older of the two pulls his hands into his poncho, grabbing at the hem of the collar from the inside as if holding it up like a pillow for his neck. “What brings you here? Just sight-seeing?”
