Swapped stars for skylines. The city where our past future dreams were made and died. I miss you, I wish you would never died.
I really miss this award winning human here, my best friend, partner in crime and the person that I still look for each time I enter a room. I found myself here, in this life that I didnāt particularly asked for, the life I didnāt see coming.
There are wounds in this life that hurt, that hurt immensely, that can be eventually overcome. But this isnāt one of the times, this isnāt like a long day at work. This isnāt like losing something beautiful just for better things to come along. āTransformationā doesnāt apply in this case.
We all go through loses in our life, but some loss, rearrange your world, which makes you see everything differently, comes with it is the kind of pain that takes you to a different universe.
No matter how well intent these words of comfort are, they donāt bring comfort to me, these are my top 3 lines that impacted me quite a-bit, and not in a good way.
1. Everything happen for a reason,
2. At least you got that time for as long as you did.
3.You will find somebody new.
Platitude and cheerleading does nothing. I wished people would realised that this isnāt a paper cut, or a crisis of confidence. I donāt need this thing to happen in order for me to realise whatās important. Or to understand the fact that Iām deeply love by another human. Finding someone new? How is it acceptable to diminish what I am feeling now, with the imaginary expectation of something that donāt exist yet?
Grief isn't something you overcome, thereās nothing wrong with it, and on top of this, is the expectation of how one must follow a strict code of socially acceptable way of expressing grief, or the need to find reasons. I learnt that there's no reason to find, grief is just an extension of love, and a natural response when you loss something you love. The reality is that, there's not a reason for everything. Things happened that do not have silver lining.
Review-United Newark (EWR) Polaris Lounge
Iām generally impressed with EWR Polaris Lounge. Thereās plenty of room and itās never too crowded at any one time.
EWR Polaris Lounge
Arrived at the lounge at about 3:30PM for my 6PM flight, I scanned through the buffet and made my way the Dining Room. There were several empty tables and the waiter let me pick where Iād want to be seated.
The Dining Room 1
The Dining Room 2
The table was properly preset with the Menu on top of it. The server came and took my order, whatās impressive here, she was attentive and the service was personalised to all of the guests. She explained in detailed the timing it would take to prepare each course, and recommended suitable drink pairing for the it. Upon request we can have all courses and drinks to be delivered at the same time or to have it on demand. Which is a good option if your timing is limited.
It was actually good, but the portion for me, is too small. The server saw my face when the food arrived, and proactively offered if Iād like to have the burger as well.
The burger was decent.
The New York Trio. Personal favs of mine now, I wasnāt planning on ordering dessert , but did it anyways, at the recommendation of the server.
I couldn't eat anymore after that, and head to the shower, unfortunately, it was fully occupied, with 40mins wait time. .At first, I didnāt mind, and waited at the sleeping suites. There were several suites, and at each suites, there were pillows, blanket, water bottle, chocolate, ear plugs and speaker that gives out soothing nature sounds to help you sleep. The staff offered if Iād like to have the warm blanket, and he came back with a very comfy warm blanket in no time.
I took about 25mins deep nap, and decided to ditch the shower and head to the gate instead since I didnāt want to cut it too close for my next flight.
Pros:
1. Major Improvement in service over all
2. Spacious
3. The food
4. The snooze area
5. Unlike SFO Polaris Lounge all facilities are within the same floor
Cons:
1. Shower wait time
2. Realistically you wonāt get to experience all of the offering in one visit
3. Ratio of server to guest are poor, hence, service is slow.
Tips:
1. Always reserve the shower first as soon as you arrived, if youāre planning on using them.
2. Donāt hesitate to request for your next meal when youāre ready, more often, the staff were hesitant to clear your table unless asked.
3. Pick your choice either the Dining Room or Buffet. I find the buffet weāre mediocre at most.
4. Keep low expectations, and youāll be surprise at the nice gesture of the staff and that way youāll leave happy.
Maybe, Iām just hard to love?
7 realities of having a job that travels. Part 1
7 realities of having a job that travels.
1. Time Lost:
Slowly, but surely, it takes me years to realise why we get paid very well, with allowances, not to mention the perks of 5 stars accommodation. Besides for the fact that itās a high risk occupation, it is to compensate for missing those precious moments in your life, the ones in a life time kind moments, like your birthdays, best friends wedding, anniversary, festive seasons, you sacrifice them all.
The strange idea of having to celebrate your birthdays with your crews that are practically strangers you just met 30 mins ago isnāt a strange idea anymore. As the years gone by, your family and loved ones just expect you wouldnāt be around, and suddenly your absence is the new norm and doesnāt make a difference anymore. (cont)

7 realities of having a job that travels.
Itās a dream of many, to be able to travel, stay at 5 stars hotels, exotic places, to dine at a fine dining restaurants, all while getting paid to do it, and able to call it their job. I am blessed to be one of the individuals who landed on these jobs twice.
7 years into the job, I have learnt to shut the constant nagging of people around me telling me how lucky I am and I should be grateful, if plays like a broken record. I am very grateful, donāt get me wrong. What Iām trying to point out here is that, we must not overlook the fact that it comes with a price to pay, both physically and mentally. There isnāt a perfect way to explain it in words, as it differs to the unique experience for each individuals. Only people that has similar work requirement that involves high travels would understand, the rest would say that Iām just whining and being ungrateful. I still enjoy having a job that allows me to travel, but, people must understand the price one has to pay for it. I feel that it is important to highlight and acknowledge these issues that are very real, and address them appropriately. Try to have an open mind and look at it from different perspectives. (Cont)

Traveling Not on Credit Card Points
It has been a while since I wanted to write this post, as the title said, unlike the other part of the world, I am not so lucky, to live in the part of the world where I could apply for a credit card, and earn points as I use it.
A little bit about me, I am an Indonesian, living in and working in Malaysia. So, getting a credit card is close to impossible for me here, moreover a card that could earnĀ miles for travels. I have always heard of traveling on points for a very long time, but never actually paid attention to it until earlier this year. Someone very close to me introduce me to a whole new level of traveling on points.
Although, there are no credit card that I could use to earn points here, there are at least 2 cards that I know of in Malaysia, that allows foreigner to apply and earn points with it.
Which is AirasiaBig Prepaid MasterCard (Issued by Tune Money Sdn Bhd) and also CIMBKwik Prepaid Card (Issued by CIMB Bank) . I have both of the cards and will make a separate post on the application procedure, and the pros and cons of the cards. This might not be traveling on fancy the First Class Seats of Emirates Airline, but its better to pay 500 Points + USD 14 to fly between SUB to KL rather than paying the whole fare + tax. Right? Admit it, we are all a cheapskate, well at least for traveling. I will try to post about the above cards in the next couple of days, as well as promotion of hotels that Iād thought worth the mentions.
