ANNOUNCEMENT: I'M QUITTING TUMBLR (but not really)
I know that absolutely no one is going to see this ever, but after 2 and a third years of being active on this site, I've finally decided to stop posting for several reasons which I'll list one by one. I will still be active on the site just to check in with what a few users are doing, but from this point onwards I am not going to post anymore of my art. I am terrible at wording posts anyway so here's all the reasons why i'm quitting:
REASON 1- CONSTANTLY GETTING SCAMMED AND WIERD USERS MAKING MY POSTS LOOK BAD
Every time i post art, one of the first notifications i get on them are always those fake check scams, where some sort of bot tries to use paypal to steal my money, which is very upsetting considering they don't even read what the post is about, and aren't even involved in my fandoms. I think they mostly just get to me because I tag my stuff as #my art, #fanart, #artists on tumblr, #digital art and #traditional art, and I could tell because all of their liked posts were from those tags specifically. As well as this I also think a lot of bots are liking my art because i often get blank accounts with what I think are auto-generated usernames, and they don't even post anything with the exception of some wierd scammy thing and/or some reblog that doesn't have any additional comment on it.
I also find it really annoying when some person excessively likes a bunch of posts related to one of my more obscure fandoms, yet they themselves are from completely different fandoms, and when I try to dm them about why they're even liking this stuff, they never EVER reply., Emphasis on EVER. I don't even know why they're doing this. unless they're just being plain rude.
I have also had the occasion in that some logokid from deviantart likes my posts, but that isn't as big as a problem as the previous two.
i just want to look professional, but these users always seem to soil my reputation
REASON 2- MOVING FANDOMS TOO QUICKLY AND ISSUES REGARDING USERS I FOLLOW
As an autistic person, i tend to change fandoms every few months, so i always end up with goals of making my account related to those fandoms full-time before moving on too soon. also for the record, some of the stuff i posted when i was first settling into a specific fandom are actually kinda cringe, looking back.
And i usually start following users who i know are quite big in the really small and obscure fandoms i'm in, or when they start liking and being appreceative towards my own posts, but over time, i realise they mostly just post and reblog about things that are outside of my fandom, barely giving enough love to my favourite characters who no one talks about. then it all comes crashing down in either one of 2 ways- i try to ask them why they've strayed away from their original content only for them to never come back with a response, or i keep pressuring them to make more and more art and stuff of my comfort characters which in turn causes them to block me.
REASON 3- NO ONE EVER LISTENS TO ME
ever since i first joined this site, all i've ever wanted to do is make it into the big leagues. i've always intended to be like those really popular artists who are always at the top of the fanart tag, and have well over a thousand likes. but of course, i've never gotten that treatment because i always post about stuff hardly anyone knows about, and it's always the same exact group of people who like my posts. to add on to this, half of the time my notifications are always about really outdated stuff and i RARELY get complimented on stuff that people like about my art, whether it's through reblogs or replies.
not that i get over 20 notifications a day anyway
and i often get artblock sometimes, so i always make posts begging for people to give me ideas cause my asks are open, recommending art challenges i'd made up, wanting others to draw my ocs, or just plainly asking a simple question like where to find a specific piece of merch. and every time people have just liked said posts without saying anything or turning to my ask box. even when i tried opening an askblog, i still hadn't recieved anything in return
all this just makes me feel really lonely, even when i edit the posts to admit so, not to mention the fact that some of my posts have ZERO likes!
so, with all that being said, i think i will base most of my art on deviantart now because it gives me more freedom to be cringe really, but i will still technically be active on here just to talk to and check in with blogs i'm still technically acquainted with, so i am not going to tag everyone who genuinely had an interest in my account as a sort of thank you: the accounts who blocked me for pressuring them (pencakes and this one patapon/dota2 blog who i believe might have changed usernames), @r0l13p0l130l13f4nxd, @planet-star-ving, @hurricanekat99. @hipparelinda, @ready-set-fish, and @moldyamethyst.
this is my final sendoff, so goodbye to me posting art and stuff!
