its ironic how I was really hesitant to start Blossom( novel) only to end up as my favorite cnovel. Similarly I was actually hesitant to start Tigers sniff the rose because I wasn’t sure I’d like the ML, only to end up absolutely loving it and Yan Shang becoming my favorite ML ever ( cnovel wise)

Not to sound like a broken record but does it make anyone else viscerally angry how we realized in the very recent past that we can successfully eradicate devastating human-specific diseases (smallpox) yet now there's a million people telling you not to vaccinate your kids against measles. I was !!! at how the vibe of MZY and LYR in the trailer reflected the novel relationship. She's both incredibly dominant and incredibly fragile - I mean, she has way more power (she's a royal princess, he's a hopeful examination candidate at the start) and money and she's unhinged due to her extreme damage (I keep saying Princess Wanning but it's seriously true) and in a serious rarity for a drama or novel (or really most works of any kind from anywhere), what draws her to him is the fact that he is so so so so good (not weak in any way - he's actually the definition of a zealot) but she's drawn to his idealism, to his principles, to his goodness (and a lot of conflict in the novel actually also stems from that - because what she loves about him is also the obstacle because he will pursue his ideal-driven goals whether she agrees with them, whether they interfere with her political machinations - he may be good but he's strong-willed as hell) and it's so interesting.

But yes, these are dynamics...

And they def kept her being the aggressor:

That is actually very much a big deal in the novel that she DOES jump him, that she physically wants him because some of her trauma is sexual in nature - it's one of the reasons she needs to initiate and to be on top and all that. (One of the most !!! moments in the novel is when she thinks it would be OK if he was on top, because he's Yan Shang and she feels safe.)

Anyway, they are both strong-willed as hell, he's rather adjusted (though murdery), she's not in the least and it's great.
