Hello, I'm Salted Caramel Cookie, but you can call me Salty or Cara.

My pronouns are he/him, and I am 26 years old.

I will mostly be using this account to save fanart and other posts I like, but also to keep track of plot, mechanics, and homebrew content for my CRK-inspired D&D campaign that I'm running.

I don't have a BYF or DNI, I'll just block you if I don't want you following me. I have a bad memory, so if you want to soft-block me, you should probably just keep me blocked because I may not realize I was soft-blocked otherwise and attempt to re-follow you.

I'll make this into a fic eventually. but I want to play dolls with PHM and IL and Bloodymary and my original alien species. I want to tell a story where Grace wakes up on the Hail Mary with "Captain" Simon already there prepping the mission. where Rocky is the only survivor of the radiation poisoning, but first contact yields two living humans on the Mary and two living eridians on the Blip-A. Simon is keeping secrets and the mystery eridian is keeping secrets, even Rocky is keeping the secrets that aren't being kept from him. and grace is in the middle of it trying to determine what's real and what's not while still trying to save (more than just) two worlds. and also there is inexplicably a child haunting everyone, but for now just Don't Worry About That

Josh Staub created the app as a labor of love alongside Deaf animators, engineers, and other collaborators.

“[The app] helps hearing and Deaf of all ages learn the rich and expressive ASL language in an innovative and engaging way like only animation can,” the Small Talk website states. Because Oscar is fully animated as he signs and fingerspells, users can rotate him to view his signs from different angles, making it easier to see how his hands and fingers move. They can also adjust the playback speed—slowing it down as they learn or speeding it up to test their fluency and handshape recognition. Crucially, they can experience Oscar’s larger-than-life facial expressions (unsurprisingly reminiscent of Disney and Pixar characters), which are an essential part of communication in ASL. [...] Staub doesn’t really view other ASL learning apps as competition. He sees Small Talk ASL as just another tool in the world—admittedly a pretty fun one—to help more people learn ASL and overcome barriers to human communication. “There are 48 million Deaf and hard-of-hearing people in America, yet the… community is, in many ways, an isolated community. There is a hidden barrier which impedes a hearing person and a deaf person from building deep relationships. ASL overcomes that barrier,” the website states. It adds that about 70% of parents of deaf children don’t learn ASL.
