So I finished my 50 year project, watching one match a year. Not always the best, most acclaimed match, sometimes just one I randomly came across. Many of them were very good, some of them were just okay. I thought I'd share my favorites.

Jerry Lawler vs. Terry Funk (Empty Arena Match) [06.04.1981, CWA]

A sort of found footage affair with a nature documentary voiceover. Funk's performance is insane.

Jack Brisco vs. Roddy Piper [07.07.1982, MACW TV]

Great example of the long forgotten art of "I put you in headlock and I don't let go so you will struggle to get out of it for 10 minutes".

Magnum TA vs. Tully Blanchard [28.11.1985, NWA Starrcade 1985 - "The Gathering"]

Incredibly horny I quit match. Feels like watching porn.

Yukari Omori vs. Lioness Asuka [15.04.1987, AJW]

No words, I just really loved it. Made me feel things.

Terry Funk vs. Ric Flair [15.11.1989, NWA Clash Of The Champions #9 - New York Knock Out]

Another I quit match. Terry Funk is like a scrungly cartoon wolf.

What're your favorite babyface performance(s) in all the matches you've seen thus far? I'm guessing you'll have liked Chigusa Nagayo's crush gals era work. any others u like in particular?

Oh man, good question... Nagayo for sure. The hair match, or hair public execution, is just so high up there.

Megumi Kudo... I haven't watched a lot of her yet so I'd have to say the Combat Toyoda match like a pleb. She's so so so beautiful it's not fair.

(I don't want to neglect modern women's wrestling but all performances that stood out to me recently were heels... or the "I slap the shit out of you" kind of babyfaces like Willow which are also babyfaces of course... but, idk, for some reason you got me thinking about the ones who suffer).

I think when Cena gets butchered like an ox it's very compelling too. The JBL "I quit" match in particular, the look on his face at the end when he's standing in the ring, beautiful. And, I do think he's utterly charming when the crowd is hostile towards him.

Punk as a babyface at the end of ROH suffers really well too. The Jimmy Rave feud, the way he dies in the dog collar match and his glorious victory in the cage match, makes me feel alive haha... I also really, really love the babyface performance he puts on against Austin Aries.

Oh, how could I forget Nigel... I'd have to go back and check in which matches against Bryan he's nominally the heel and which the babyface but I have to say, he's always my babyface and Bryan's always a cunt. Probably ROH Driven 2007 with the awful ringpost spot? And not to forget the Austin Aries match with the awful barrier botch.

Also I can't find it anymore, snowboiiii uploaded it and it was deleted again, but Yoshihito Sasaki vs. Mitsuhiro Matsunaga. That man got massacred and took it very well. I keep thinking about it, I wish I could see it again.

When teachers complain about pedagogical issues it can be hard to sort genuine problems from "old man yells at cloud"-type problems. High school students being functionally illiterate, prospective English teachers who don't read, medical students with no dexterity skills, those are concerning. Not laughing at Monty Python? Not so much.
